I didn't make the cost list of both, but I am planning to swap my Mitsubishi pajero with the om606 over the m57 because 1) it's cheaper in my country, (500€+-) and 2)no electronic needed which is a very difficult part if like me don't know how work on it
606 pricy to buy and parts needed for it are pricy installs but probably easier. M57 theres so many diffrent choices to make about the install that price is really variable. I went with the earlier engine as wireing is easier. It only takes 9 wires from body to ecu and 5 of them are the pedal. Theres plenty of standalone options aswell to make it even easier.
The exit of the air box goes to the left but in a 200tdi the intake is on the right. That also being the hole in the wing and the snorkel is fitted on the right. Do you do any sort of kit you sell to move it

Sorry for parading my ignorance. Does this engine have any can-bus electronic control and if so how does it interface with that old style vehicle. I've seen people fitting a modern engine into an old chassis and the software issues have been massive and more problems than all the mechanical aspects put together. Nice looking job by the way.
Well you need power plus exciter wire for the starter and you need power feed plus exciter for the alternator but not the same exciter wire. Oh and also sensors for oil pressure and oil temp and water temp, maybe a tach if you fancy, that will come off the alternator if you buy one from Luke. That is if your running electrical gauges. Hope that helps.

Also, am I able to request a specific year of motor manufacture? I live in California and cannot install a motor newer than my original one to pass the emission standards.
@@uliwehner Well, for starters, its California. In order for me to do the swap, diesel has to have been an original factory option and the engine can't be newer than the year of my vehicle. There are hoops you have to jump through and its a hassle, but it is possible. Other options are is to put in a Land Rover diesel, which I hear can be boosted up decently, and putting a Cummins4bt in it, which was my original plan until I learned of the Mercedes engines.
@@westernwanderer8397 the 4 bt is massively heavier. They do make the power with the right parts. Power driven diesel has a video of the dyno session of a 4bt in a Ford excursion. 435 hp and almost 1000lbs torque
I don’t have a 500HP version, I only have an 680HP version. 500HP you can do that all day with stock pistons. Well until you run out of fuel. Only time I’ve ever seen a piston failure is if the injector has problems or your rings weren’t properly gapped for the intended use. Like injector constantly dumps fuel and never shuts off. Unless your putting it in an airplane why would it be wide open for long durations of time?

The VW 1.9 is a very popular swap into many different vehicles so finding the swap gear for those is super easy. I.E. my 92’ Suzuki Sidekick has 1.9 swapped in with an M5R1 Ford trans n T-case, that market is over saturated with people building swap kits. Luke’s busy building OM605/606 swap stuff which I only know of 1 other company currently building swap kits for those motors and only know of 1 guy building 8.5mm mechanical pumps, he even produces a billet pump housing which is freakin sick!!!
Sadly, these motors and their associated conversions have become way too expensive. Back top sticking with what we already have. Luke, HTFU and do up the VP44 pumps and stop hanging on the ZD30 hate.
Is something British? Well. It’s gotta have three things: 1some English made POS that needs a drivetrain swap cause they apparently can’t make an engine worth a fuck. 2 a German, Japanese or American powertrain (usually newer) 3. A god damn Land Rover.
