I know that this isn't a normal video that I usually do, but I try to do these kind of videos every once in awhile to just remind myself that I have control over what I want for myself. Things may be hard sometimes, but it's all about how we react. I've had a lot of messages from people talking about how they appreciate my input and positivity. I try to be as real as I can. I'm not here on RUclips for views, I'm not on social media for popularity. I'm using these platforms because I get messages and comments hearing that my content helps others. Even if it only helps 1 person, that makes me so happy.
So I didn't intend on publishing this. This would normally just stay in my hard drive for my future self, but life is short and I wanted to share this to possibly help others. I hope it helps you in any kind of way. Thanks for being here. -Spencer Berke

DUDE, right!! I had a women who did this often at a dealership I worked at. I hated it so much. Why does it matter to you? lol. I think people enjoy getting others in trouble because they're hurt or miserable. It makes sense, I have sympathy.

Im only 19 and I went to school for automotive technician and I still haven’t been able to find a job at a dealer. Over the last few months I’ve been debating whether I want to pursue this career or not because the dealership jobs just looks miserable to be honest. I’d rather work for a independent shop but I just don’t know if its what I want to do. I just want to have a free schedule and enjoy what I do no matter how much money it makes. Happiness over money always.

I understand. I started at 18 in the dealership game, even before that I would visit often. It looks amazing from the outside, but in the dealership world it's so toxic and sad. It just sucks to see the reality, but at the end of the day the earlier you can see it, the better. AND, there's a possibility that you do work at a great dealership that has a positive environment. This is the ups and downs of any work place. Just have to go with the flow.

Wow… glad you published this video. It’s raw and unfiltered. I’m sure everyone can relate to it in some way. And certainly I can see how it helps you deal with your mental and life pressure challenges.
The only thing that I would suggest is perhaps to rethink the negative feelings or experiences you had at your previous jobs. The inability to do what you want when you want it while on the “clock” or being restrained can actually be good and constructive for you. It’s called structure and being able to function in a structured environment prepares you for the real world and raises your chances of success. Structure does not necessarily equate to loss of creativity. If someone claims it to be true 100% then they are avoiding dealing with reality.
Nonetheless, I’m glad you are sharing your feelings. I’m glad you’re doing this for “you”. But always remember this will pass to. Stick to your passion, do what it takes, do more than what it takes, do more than what everyone else would do if they were in your shoes and success will come to you. That success could result in sense of accomplishment and fulfillment or even financial.
I met you once at Mike’s shop. I’m the guy that knows Kris, the gentleman you got your last car from.
Look forward to seeing you overcome your challenges and finding ever increasing happiness in life.
Cheers and keep at it Spencer.
    Sean

I suffer for depression anxiety and PTSD everyday bro! Have had and do have bad thoughts as well. I’m ex military. My wife of 23 years has stuck by my side through my struggles with depression and the pandemic sure hasn’t helped. My daughter has BPD she’s 15 now and I feel like it’s my fault she has BPD somehow she got her disease from me and it hurts. I’m 53 with a great job, an amazing boss who understands all I’ve been through. the VA is taking good care of me. I’m very blessed and depression sucks because you don’t wanna do shittttttt! And next thing you know your daughter is 15. I’ve been there for her and if I didn’t have depression could I have been a even better dad to her. You do your best for your family. I hate depression, so I know what your going through. Stay tough bro. Everyday is a struggle with this disease and it sucks.

RIGHT. I hated knowing that there were people in my envrioment that I didn't want to see or talk to. It sounds rude, but I don't want negative energy in my life, even 1% negativity. Sometimes you have to face it, and when you do it's annoying, it brings you down and drains you badly. But, we have choices thankfully. All that negativity gave me motivation to get out and go out on my own.... be alone, be free.. enjoy the sunsets, enjoy fresh air, sleep in on a Monday, go drive for hours with nowhere to be on a week day... THOSE things, that's what life is about. Not worrying about making an extra $100 on a deal that took weeks to put together and having to dread phone calls from people that you don't want to hear from. I'm glad others see it too.

@@SpencerBerke I left new car sales at 23. I agree, management seemed seriously outdated. Being told to make X calls, sell X cars, sell X warranties (that I didn’t believe in). If I didn’t sell a warranty on a person financing, it was like the end of the world. Selling the car wasn’t even fun anymore and demoralizing. Since it was all about $. I had the best backend numbers at my location of 12. I had one bad start to a month and I got talked to, so I just left. I 100% agree, I would rather make less doing something I enjoy. I love cars to death, but selling them isn’t for a car enthusiast. I haven’t worked for the past 5 months, enjoying the summer in my A90 and going camping with my family. Enjoying the trees and the birds =]

@@duck8280 Sounds like fun. I'm in the same boat but thankfully one of the best dealerships I've worked for. Just would be nice not to be stuck at work from 8:30-8:00pm 2 days a week. I understand sacrifice but not when it comes to sales where I don't necessarily have things going on 100% of the time.(If I'm paid for my time).
That's my biggest annoyance with FInance. Like that's your department. I don't ask for you to sell the car for me do I? I'm fine with going over it briefly just so they're prepared before going in. It's nearly impossible to sell every single thing. I probably sell most of extended warranty, rust proofing and GAP insurance.

What’s up Spencer! I’ll start by saying a lot of us feel stressed and depressed from time to time it’s like a “mental flu” it passes with time, but, it has to be dealt with; I have loved the look and sound of the V8 M3’s before being an owner. When I purchased my 2011 e92 M3 I completely understood the love for these cars being an owner. Coming to RUclips for mods and service info I came across your videos. Hey Spencer we met in Pittsburgh a few years ago. Back then I also struggled with mental health and a toxic relationship and unhealthy body weight. Fast forward a couple years and I’m about to start my first “real” full time job, start grad school, continue doing RUclips, and keep up with my fitness passion. I think we have a pretty similar mindset where we just wanna hustle and grind and I also feel pretty guilty and lazy when I take a break from it. I think it’s definitely setting me back with my social life and dating, but then again like you said, it feels like a distraction from the grind when it does happen. I’m so focused on bettering myself that I feel like I don’t even want to make time to be social. You were one of the very first RUclipsrs that I ever started watching. I love your approach to life when you say that we just need to do what makes us happy. You should make more videos like this btw.✌️

I have to be honest with you i checked a couple of times if didnt was me missing out on an notification or maybe it was me. Had a rough year myself on my way back now, so i totally get your point where you stand. Dude i love your honesty your content just the whole package. ❤

Dope video man, hard to be this transparent. I talk with myself all the time, like literally talk to myself lol. I constantly try to remind myself to enjoy the process, it’s not always about the end goal and the rewards. Keep your head up, and you got this far not by chance, but with persistence and skill. My one concern is whenever I’m fully satisfied with my progression or goals, will I be satisfied? Or will I say, “now what?” Either way life is short make the most of it 🙌🏾👊🏾

Thanks for making this Spencer. I started following for you BMW stuff because I have a E92 335i and I love what you do man. This video speaks a lot of truth that I don't think you hear about on social media. Money isn't everything, having that freedom to see your mom on a Wednesday is significant because MANY people don't live with that kind of freedom. Freedom comes with responsibility which is often related to stress, but like you said, focusing on what you love doing makes it all worth it. Much love man, keep it up, keep talking to the camera as you love doing :)

it's actually kinda funny how you mention small things becoming stressful, like your smog issue. for example, i currently have my exhaust banging against my frame right now cause stiff motor mounts, and i CANNOT find the root cause but for some reason stuff like that stresses me out way more than it should. it also might be obvious to some, but i recently learned stress is terrible for your physical health. but yeah, it's cool you brought that up, cause that's something i know i need to work on, and maybe for a lot of others as well. the world is unfortunately easy to get stressed about

Thank you for sharing all of this with us. It gave me a lot of perspective as someone currently balancing summer college classes and two jobs. I work 7 days a week and often question if this is really what I want. This video shows that it's okay to question your own decisions, and make positive changes to be better, even if it's scary. I've followed you for years now, and the E9X platform is one I hope to own in the next few years. Funny enough, I was in Irvine the same week you got the new E90. If I had known, I wish I could have met you IRL and talk to you. Sometime soon :) much love from NorCal.

Great advice bro. Too many people focus on the short term money and never stop and think about what truly makes them happy. I was guilty of this too, and to this day, it’s hard to turn it down. I find myself always coming back to RUclips and making videos. Connecting with like minded people and helping them in any way I can is incredibly fulfilling.
Keep it up man. Things will work out as they should!

I can relate too much. I used to live in Irvine so my commute could be only 5 minutes one way. For a job that I hate, even though the money is really good. Having a family makes it harder to make that decision to make less money for a less soul-sucking job, but watching content likes this (raw and uncut emotion), is motivating me to make changes in my life to pursue the same freedom you are looking for. I need to seek discomfort too… I’ve gotten too comfortable over the years.

Great video bro, I needed to hear most of what your talking about at 22 years old. Makes me realized how blessed I am to be down here in Newport and have the friends that I do. Happiness and fulfillment is more important than money I’m just starting to notice this more as I get older as well. Relationships, human connection, and time are the most valuable things to us. It’s never good to be consumed by money and “flexing”

I’m 29 also, I love my job and what I do but it’s always hard not to feel pressured by others even if they don’t mean it to do more to make more money but im truly happy I don’t need more money I have my M3, beautiful house, my wife and soon my son will be here. I also don’t have social media other then YT because I feel less pressured by what I see other post/have. I feel like I do what I want because it’s truly what I want. I also think it’s normal to feel depressed here and there it’s how you get through it that matters for me that’s cars and working out and being alone on drive/walk

No matter how much you think you have your shit sorted. Everyone comes to a point at some time where they have to contemplate these issues in life.
Some people are lucky and they have their life dialled in or they think they do for 95% of the time from start to finish. Most don’t and need to reflect like this and admit some hard truths to themselves to make the changes needed going forward.
Great honest video. I think more people than not are not happy, fore-filled and satisfied with the current direction their lives are taking them and need to take control and redirect like you have.
