Hi. It take 5-6 months to grow to harvest size of 5 inches or so and 8-12 months to reach 7-12 inches. But it also depends on feeding and growing conditions.
KT Prawns thanks. Are they able to live out their entire life in brackish water? So that you could just throw them in a tank and let them breed/grow without too much work.
Hi sir, pardon me for asking, but what is the substrate or sand/gravel you use in the video? and can i use lava rock for freshwater prawn tank to promote beneficial bacteria?
+Creative Genius Productions It's alway difficult to tell at a young age. You can tell when they are about 2" in size. The female have smaller claws and have more rounded body. They male usually grow faster and bigger.
A few other questions Do you raise you prawns solely in tanks? If yes how long do you grow them for and what size are you able to achieve?Do you not run a biofilter in your pool at all? Would you recommend growing in tanks for commercial purposes?
It all depends on vegetation in the pond and if there are fish are not. Prawns will need plants and other water critters (small fish, snails, etc) to survive. 2000 Prawns would be a good number for the pond.
@@KTPrawns Oh, fine then. I was asking if 2.023 square meter of pond can really produce adequate amount of food for an adult macrobrachium rosenbergii weighing more than 500 grams? I got this figure by calculating the 2000 prawns you suggested per acre.
Prawnhub
Reported for Prawnography.
This is what you call, *Prawn hub*
Nah this is what you call taking the ultimate one for the team
Awww the prawn is having so fun with his or her baby
I have a 20 gallon tank for the hatchlings. How do I do the brackish water mix ???
How long does it take for the prawn to grow into a giant? And will both males and females grow big?

No, they will not survive long in brackish water, Maybe a few weeks. They are Freshwater Prawns, they need Freshwater to survive.
KT Prawns that would be nice tho lol wouldn’t have to go through the hassle of separating them into diff waters. I wonder if anyone has tried it.

Hi there, I've been having a hard time distinguishing the males from the females. How do I do this?
+Creative Genius Productions It's alway difficult to tell at a young age. You can tell when they are about 2" in size. The female have smaller claws and have more rounded body. They male usually grow faster and bigger.
I sent you an email, my prawns are at least 2"

Creative Genius Productions I want to know this too
Female prawn before: virgin
Male prawn: chad
Now am I correct in that they mate in brackish water, then female hatches the fry in freshwater?
MrTurbotoby no they hatch in brackish water. The larvae will only move upstream to freshwater after metamorphosis to post larvaes
No ,eggs hache in brakish water.
Those arms ;) and i thought mating was like with some of that and then some of that >.> and ya
Hugs😂
I'm watching this because I got curious right after eating a prawn full of eggs
Can river shrimp breed in aqurim????
i don't see any boinking
Do you increase salinity to encourage breeding or do you move the berried females to brackish water just for hatching?
Move the Larvae to brackish water after hatching..
prawn pawrn
If you keep them in a pond without feeding them, how many adults can an acre naturally sustain?
It all depends on vegetation in the pond and if there are fish are not. Prawns will need plants and other water critters (small fish, snails, etc) to survive. 2000 Prawns would be a good number for the pond.
@@KTPrawns By the way, what is the largest species of freshwater crab? Would it be better to keep freshwater crabs or macrobrachium rosenbergii?
@@KTPrawns By this, do you mean that 2.023 metre square of area will we able to produce food for one adult prawn?
No sure. Never raise crabs before..

Hello, do u add salt into the water?
Hi. No salt in the water. They are Freshwater Prawns, live and grow in freshwater.
What is the food of your fresh water drawn?
Frawn
Fooking prawns.
I can relate I'm not proud of it but I've taken a few grenades for a friend

Sorry to hear that. That Dead Prawns may have just molted. Did you have netting substrates in the container for them to get away from each other?
