I also ended up with a "serial killer prawn" blue claw. Went from 65 prawn to 4. You could say I am at a loss, lmao.
Tilapia are the way to go for aquaponics but I do find the prawn fascinating, trying to decide if mine are worth keeping around with a wrist injury (water swaps, ugh!)

here in Aus we call them Cherrapin (Macrobrachium rosenbergii this is the species of shrimp/prawn you're keeping right?)
We have those in a texas river lol they only come out at night though

I had those but I put some baby crayfish in the same tank, the prawns were all eaten 4 months later.

17.5 inches omnivores will eat anything they can catch.
Also sold as "feeders" here paid 3 bucks for a dozen pure freshwater heater 75/82. Calcium in the water helps them molt.
