- Harvesting some of the bigger Prawns from my pool. These Prawns have been growing for about 4 months or so now. They are growing at different rate so I am removing some of the larger ones giving the smaller Prawns more time to grow.
Please notes: This recording was made back in late July 2019. I did not have the time to work on it due to my work schedule until now.

How many gallons and how many prawn to the pool. I have a 800 gallon set up now with the water ageing. Just trying to get an idea how many I can put in. Also what stops the small prawns from intering the water exchange?
Hi. You can have a couple hundred in your 800 gallons but make sure to have lots of netting substrates. It also depends on your harvest size. If you want bigger Prawns, stock 100 or under.
I wrapped the water pump with a piece of 1/8" mesh/netting.

How do they taste compared to wild saltwater shrimp? Any chance you have a shrimp per kW value?
Their meat have softer texture compared to the saltwater shrimp, people here say that the saltwater shrimp is tastier but for me that's not the case, it's how u cook it. I like the saltwater when they deep fried it but the fresh water shrimp taste better when you make it as soup or even half fried it. As for the market price, since the saltwater shrimp doesn't grow as big as the freshwater, the saltwater shrimp actually has slightly higher price if both r the same size. The market here categorizes the freshwater into 3.. A, B, and Those r smaller than B. A is the huge males it's from 7-10 USD per kilo while B are those females or males that r smaller ranging from 5-7 USD per kilo and the saltwater is around the B price per kilo.

Net is for substrate/breeding and tarp could prevent jumping, heat loss or humidity. 🦐🦐🦐

@@KTPrawns thanks I just found our ministry of fisheries doesn't allow them in the country so I might have to go to a place we can fish them and catch a few and keep them alive

I got 20 meter × 10 meter pond how many prawns can I raise in that..that prawns almost 2 month
It all depends on how deep the pond is, harvest size you want and substrates used. Large Prawns (4"+) needs about 1.5-2 Sq ft per animal.
You can raise 500 prawns

Your variation growth rate is determined by temperature control, if stressed by cooler climate their digestive system can't tolerate it. And nutrition optimization is another consideration, Only the strong may thrive.

Yes, that is about right. Some grow faster than others..

How much money do you make with this operation? Could you provide your family with enough protein with these if you were to only use them for yourself?

Yes, they female will need to be separated from the others.

It holds in heat and keeps the water temp more stable as well as reduces the evaporation
