  • This video is recorded 30 days after I stocked my 100-gal stock tank with 28, 1.5 inch Juveniles. In 2 weeks, they grew over 1/2 inch. In 30 days, they grew over 2 inches. As stated, some are growing faster than others. Freshwater Prawns grow faster in warmer water since they will eat more. Therefor water will get dirty faster due to wastes produced by the Prawns. So water maintenance needs to be done more frequent.

    I can see in the second half of the video a lot of the prawns have molted and too soft to eat food. Keep up with the updates!

    I would love to see videos on how to raise shrimp larvae. I used to raise some seahorses and it was a VERY difficult task keeping green water, copepods, etc. available and keeping the water clean. I did this on a small scale, but would like to see how you do this? Also, when a female is ready for the brackish water, should be introduced slowly over several days to the brackish water or simply introduce her with the normal temp and small water acclimation procedures you recommend?

    What sorta cost per lb mature prawns roughly when all expenses are considered over their life? I'm not saying including buying the equipment I'm just asking operation and feed cost

    Are these the giants from the phillipenes that get up to a pound and 7” long apiece?
    I was seeing $300 2male/3female breeding colonies that put out a lot more than 28 eggs.
    I would like to do something bout 10x this big just to have enough for a few boils.
    A 300$ colony meant to produce 1000s seems like a huge waste

    Do you raise your prawn larvae in a brackish tank? I could’ve missed it but I don’t think I’ve heard you talk about that

      Yes, larvae need brackish water to survive and grow until they reach post larvae.

    Which is better for survival rates .. verticals substrate or horizontal substrate?

    • @KTPrawns
      @KTPrawns  2 года назад

      Horizontal seems to work better for Prawns when they are molting.
