With all the devolpmet you can't send the all the water south. But stopping the spraying and allowing nature to filter the water naturally will help this problem. Remember this is not a lake Okeechobee problem it just happens to be at the end of the line.
@@tomharris5742 Why not just tear out the dams? Wild rivers do best, just look at Southern Oregon and the wild rivers coast. Those structures were built after a hurricane pushed the lake into Lauderdale, maybe build a defensive structure and let the lake go free?
Your lesson is not totally correct. The dike was built after the hurricane flooded Okeechobee city and Clewiston. I have lived around the lake for over forty years. In that time I have watched the quality of the water decrease as the spraying has increased. Water went from clear to muddy hydrilla died. Sucks and waterfowl decreased every year to the point that it is now almost non existent. But if you think tearing out the dike and risking peoples lives is a viable solution good for you.
I agree. They can't release the Water to the south because homes have been built where homes should have never been built. Plus it would kill everything south and contaminate the Brighton tribes Water. The dam must be removed but the Water must be cleaned up prior to the removal plus the homes that were allowed to be built must be purchased and the people moved into new homes. Our public officials and protect agencies have been failing us for decades.

After spending close to fifty years on Okeechobee and seeing what happened to the water quality after the spray program. I firmly believe the problem started there. The same thing has happened north and we lost our aquatic filter. If you want to help solve this problem please show up at FWC's meetings. Be advised that they make the times and the dates inconvenient for the working man. That should tell you all you need to know.
You can’t fix that problem with more chemicals I’ve been thinking on this for quite some time and I have my own thoughts about how to correct this without causing any more grief to the wildlife I think that you should start looking at live Cole it’s a product that is natural to our environment the rest of it is simple cleanup there’s a lot more to it than just these two things but it’s a good start I’m pretty sure I can fix Lake Okeechobee and the rest of the lakes
You should consider adding context to your c9ncluding advice "...letting the plants grow back..." Not all those who see this will be previously familiar with your channel and videos. The number knowing that Florida's government agencies and subcontractors have been destroying all of the plant life in the waterways using powerful and dangerous herbicides. Without that knowledge and context, and if a viewer might not know what algae is, it almost sounds like you could be suggesting letting the algae grow more to stop its growth o.0
Theses videos should get more views. Outrageous that fl spend that much money.
Spend? You mean they gave it away.
Pray for those souls that think they can get away with this
Outstanding video! Thank you!
Why not just undam the lake and let it flow south into the glades again?

Over fertilization of crops such as sugar cane and turf grass causes fertilizers to run off into waterways which is the primary cause of algae blooms.
