Hi I’m Matt Lockey, welcome to my Coach Lockey RUclips Channel. This RUclips channel is designed to help you play better golf, and to help you enjoy your golf more!

I want to help you play better golf by providing coaching videos on all topics about golf. How to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
As well as helping you produce the best long game you can have, I will help you lower your scores by chipping better, stopping duff and thin chips, pitching the ball closer and creating backspin like the tour pros. Finally, I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts too!

As a teen in high school, I used to make extra money by working on pitch marks on the greens at the local golf course late at night after I got finished working at the gas station, back when stations had attendants. I would wear a headlight / miners light and repair all the marks on the greens I could locate. I did not get paid to do that at the course, but I did get free golf.
How long did you have to do that for each day?
@@CoachLockey I would work about two or three hours average Monday through Friday. I refused to work weekends. That time was for fishing, country western dances, beer drinking, and generally howling at the moon. A man must balance life with hard work vs fun.

That's funny. I've been playing golf for more than 30 years and all the way during this time my underlying thought has always been 'I just don't want to make a fool of my self'.

This looks good, subscribed to your channel after your recent short game lesson.
As far as tough courses go, my top two would be Aldeburgh, and Royal Cinque Ports. Both off the back tees. Aldeburgh was played in a gale. It made me feel about three feet tall!
Whilst playing at these events it's always a bit perplexing how you see so many people playing off plus two and better. Most of whom shoot in the 80s and in some cases, in the 90s.
Other favourites include Berkhampstead, Hankley Common and Woburn (Dukes).
Enough of my waffle.

Hotchkin is one of my favourire courses. Yep relatively flat. The chap I played with ten years ago handicap around 12 must have had twenty bunker shots before the last few holes by which time his head had gone. Slightly surprised to see water in bunkers etc. when I have been there it always seemed to have just avoided rain and showers as if it was a magic kingdom. Well played Lockey. I played a course in Portugal which was ranked very close to the Hotchkin (in European ranking) but in my opinion was quite a long way behind.
The amount of rain mud island has had this year has been incredible. Thanks for the comment and watching

I play in the province of Ontario, Canada. This past spring I got the Golf Canada app and it gives me my handicap amongst other options.
I don’t think I will ever need my handicap to play anywhere, but it’s good to know what it is,by the way it’s really high.

Its so hard to start your ball that far up the right side when you are hooking (drawing) the ball. Every time I try to start it up the right side, my draw doesnt draw and Im in trouble up the right side. Hard to play with a 20 yard draw, lol
It is, which is why I had a lesson last week myself 😂
I emailed England golf a while ago and asked if they could put stats on their app and they did it! Only annoying thing is on competition rounds I’m not using the app to upload my score so can’t put the stats in, there doesn’t appear to be an option to do it retrospectively, might have to send them another email!

Handicap without joining a club, is this really a good idea? How will smaller clubs survive?
Funny you say that. Milestone just reach by iGolf - 10,000 iGolfers have moved into club membership.
Just watching this, I’m really not trying to be awkward but as a solo golfer keeping a hcp cert is really difficult. Does igolf allow solo submissions ?
Afraid not. Has to be signed by another iGolf user.

Unfortunately solo submissions would not be acceptable for handicapping, for a round to be acceptable it must be witnessed and verified by another MyEG user, this can be either a club member, iGolf subscriber or an iPlay user.

I’ve only seen the short game area of Woburn watching Dan Grieve’s short game lessons. Would you be willing to play that course?

You would struggle more at Painswick which is meant to be England's easiest course
When they come up with a way for people to get a handicap when playing solo golf I will subscribe. Till then it’s pointless for me.
I signed up believing I would be able to get a WHS handicap and didn't realise you need your scorecard signed off by someone else. Which I have no one who can do this. If I had known I would of done exactly as you said
I have a USGA Handicap through The Grint app. I mostly play alone.
Balls to the WHS. I went from 10 to +1.6 in 1 round 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
