But with the stock variants the new models would absolutely wreck the old ones. Nah, it's just gear ratios. All of these are modded to hell anyway, virtually none of the original car remains besides the chassis. Old cars right out of the factory were SLOW compared to modern standards of fast cars, and I mean absolutely painfully slow. Your standard V6 Camry or Accord today would beat almost any "fast" muscle car from back in the day, or at the very least give them a hard time... and those are just the family grocery getters. They would also get like 3 or 4 times the fuel economy while they do it. Put a modern V8 Mustang or Challenger against a 60's Charger or whatever and it would be laughable stock vs stock. I am pretty sure they're not old under the hood.
Sniper 2000 I guess that true but the way they squat on the launch 😵🔥 also I think they tend to have better launch speed
@@alextunstall6912 that's cause of improper weight to power distribution people mod these cars without knowing the proper physics of the car and destroy them. Electric cars such as tesla roadster have really one of the best acceleration but they don't squat on launch I am pretty sure most of them have already ruined their car. But you are correct they are cool to look at.
Whenever I see an old school car I imagine that if I throw that car at any other car the other car would just get obliterated and the old school car would just have some scratches.
Agreed!
Better title: purpose built drag racers in old chassis vs mostly stock new cars
no the newer ones are still built to be a drag car the owner does it
also the older cars weigh less
you know what there also is???weight reduction methods taking out seats ect... which is most of the time done to a car that is being made into a drag car
Better title: Purpose-built production Race Cars VS shitty new cars.
The 1969 dodge challenger had around 425 hp stock, today, I can get a 2020 dodge Challenger with 305. sure, the upper limit for power for these vehicles has increased, but so has the minimum, and the cars from the 60's-70's were built for racing from the factory. I don't see anyone racing today's challengers stock *because they suck as race cars stock* unless you put in WAAY too much money to justify not just buying one from the 70's.

Because they're tuned up and definitely not stock. Seen this in a lot of old muscle cars vs new supercars. Supercar is stock and launches poorly, old muscle is suped up specifically to be faster than the supercar. And it launches well, while the supercar doesn't even accel fully. It's a total hoax.

Carburetors do give better response time but with some driver skill and some tuning you can get a newer car to launch almost the same.
