Click below to watch a music video version! Super proud of how it came out, uses "Mr Blue Sky" by Electric Light Orchestra, which is one of the best songs ever written imo :)

Im 9 minutes late... =(
Matt Lowne you did the same assists as the Galileo Jupiter probe two earth assists and one Venus
Matt Lowne: nice ssto.. Mind if I hijack it. And take it.
Daniel W Stehle: they take a long time.
Matt Lowne I
>spends 17 years to get to laythe
>stays on laythe for 10 minutes
>spends 26 years to get back
>i didn't want this to go for too long
He took 2 hours taking the kerbals on EVA
That's my problem with, like, every KSP video ever! :D But to a large extent it's just the nature of space and space travel. I started my game with the intent to colonize everything, but it's taking so long to get the infrastructure set up.
most of those 10 minutes were from getting all the kerbals out/in the machine
Can't wait to see you work at NASA.
"Why did we launch 10 ships one after another?"
"So when the first ones crash we'll be able to do it better."
Finally 69
43 years Matt. 43 YEARS YOUVE BEEN GONE! DID YOU EVEN THINK OF THE KIDS?
all of the kids were on the plane
their not kids anymore...
Laythe mustve messed with their clock
They are clock thank you very much
Sharkisha-lekondra-mebarbodes Onomanapiea That makes completely no sense at all...
I like how Matt just keeps escalating these SSTOs. What's next? When does it end? 200-seats? 300? No one knows. He's simply unstoppable. I have the full belief that Matt could send an entire Kerbal country into space on an SSTO, and at this rate he might just do that. The Kerbals are Afraid. Its only a matter of time before they are all precariously strapped to a rocket just so Matt can prove he can toss the entirety of Kerbin into space with only one stage.
500
i am impressed 124 kerbals on a ssto wow just wow good job
43 years...some "died" on the way and the rest retired once they landed. ; )
There is a 500 seat version
Mlgm8 that is with refueling
Bradley Whistance made a 1600 odd ssto to dres
Sorry if i misspelled something
And refuelled
8:25 “I quickly quick loaded my quick save”
That's very quick
I quickly quick loaded my quick save by the quick shore
Nice man. Only took 43 years. I'd take that trip! The kerbal way!
I've done ssto missions that took more than 200 years...... manned ones too!
i mean who needs a base when you can land an ssto that bigger than a base
Imagine spending 43 years of your life to stand on a planet for 5 minutes, passing home multiple times along the way.
I'm sure some of the crew would have been a bit angry.
You Sir, are a GENIUS. When are you going to apply to join the design team for SpaceX or NASA?
As soon as they develop quicksave technology
see :unrelated footage"
This is standard behavior for space rocketry.
I think that's a bit too much for him
Matt Lowne When you Are designer, nobody cares, If It works or not. Tests Will say If design works or not
I am deeply impressed by your SSTO skills. I can't even get one into LKO.
Octagonal Torpedo 360 I cant even get of the runway
Glenniebrother I can't even get mine out of the SPH without my game crashing 😂
Start small and work your way up. Look at his ssto to orbit in 2.33 video for an idea of how to start.
Five mammoths, 5 of the biggest kerbodyne fuel tanks. The beast reaches orbit before running out of fuel.
lulz ikr, I've made pretty crazy rockets in my time of KSP, but I could never really get good at SSTO building... It sucks cause it's what interests me the most. But my brain just stops functionning when I try to build one XD
How to colonize a planet with one spacecraft
Craigslist Assassin its easy, just ask danny2462
With some fertile semen and the thing from women forgot the tranlation
Fair. Using “gravity-assists” is more like transforming energy than “creating energy.”
That's exactly what I was thinking. Energy can be increased, but neither created nor destroyed.
I did your guide to get a first time SSTO to minmus from few years ago and just returned a few minutes ago! Getting it set up and finishing the missiontook 2 and a half hours but I'm glad I learnt! I will use more SSTOs in the future
It's a pitty that the solar system doesn't have a 'second earth' with oxygenated atmosphere
CombraStudios We can fucking MAKE ONE.
YEEEEEEEAH.
@@trumint821 (Insert Kopernicus Mod Here)
I think we did a little while ago but shit happened
Sweet ship! I am currently planning in KSP to send a giant SSTO to Duna. I really do love these types of videos! Keep up the good work mate!
I really appreciate the effort to trim the video down. Well edited Kerbal play vids are pretty rare.
Wow fantastic Matt! this is by far your most impressive video yet, I remember I started watching you because of your 40 seat Mun SSTO!! :D Keep it up dude you're a KSP god.
Thanks for doing modless, it really helps xbox players like me!
Mysteryfoxx RJ same
Mysteryfoxx RJ And Linux players like me!
Uh, you can get mods on linux. Just run CKAN in mono, it works fine. I use linux and it is what I do
GandalfTheCat In Wine? It told me I needed .NET 4.6.2 when I tried it in a clean 32-bit Wine prefix, and installing .NET up to v4.5 with Winetricks wasn't enough to get the 4.6.2 installer to work.
What Wine version are you using? I tried it on 2.9-staging.
Or are you actually compiling it from source with Mono? I didn't know you could do that, here. Might be worth a try.
Lol console peasant why would you play KSP on Xbox if all platforms...
Excellent video chap! I just started and all of what’s in this video is very inspirational! Keep up the expeditions!
Matt you beat me to it. i'm working on my 100 seat ssto but then you come out with this. i am both saddened and impressed.
Matt Lowne - Hey, I've made a cool new SSTO with 60 seats!
Matt Lowne - Hold my beer!
So they landed on Laythe after 17 years and returned to Kerbin after 43 years, nice trip :-)
Your KSP skills are godlike holy crap man.
I feel sorry for the kerbals, they got stuck sitting there for 17 years
I remember my first attempt at a Laythe landing - it involved the trusty Perceus-class interplanetary rocket. The orbiter performed well as expected, but the trusty Hermes-class lander that it used didn't have enough Delta-V for surface ascent and that mission ended with a bunch of kerbals stranded in the water following the failed takeoff attempt.
Have you ever considered putting radiators inside the fairing to help re-entry?
Amazing! Your videos are only getting better!
Instead of returning to kerbin, place all the kerbals in seats outside the ship and deorbit it into jool.
Danny would be proud.
For anyone wondering what music is at 10:13, it's the Bach Prelude and Fugue No.1. I had to research this by naming the notes and I found it. YOU'RE WELCOME
Great Video!
Don't worry too much about the length of the vid. I genuinely enjoy you, and I am pretty sure I speak for most of your subs. Plus, more ad revenue for u ;)
nice video! keep up the good work! :D
Matt, my friend, your endeavors are starting to press harder and harder on the borders of ludicrousness regarding the amount of kerbal head count. That said, I loved it.
My God your content is so damn good why don't you have more subscribers
I think he has the most of serious KSP players...
Oh yeah him. Well the second most of the serious ones.
Try making a big ssto, then put a smaller ssto inside it and fly to anywhere you choose
That ladder trick is really sweet.
I'm intrigued... What made you want to use a couple of Whiplash engines as well as the R.A.P.I.E.R's? Do the Whiplashes have better acceleration or efficiency until you need to leave the atmosphere?
Ok, I've always understood gravity assists and how they work, but how do you time all of your assists to get to your destination?
ITS ABOUT TIME.
You're doing this and the best SSTO I can make can only get to orbit.
10:20 nice ground shadow you got there
Well I can only think about this mission with life support systems. I would love to see that mission. Nice video dude
*Flies ssto to minmus* Yay! I has skillz!
*sees this video* FUUUUUU
*_YaYy'1111 I HAz SKIllllllllllLLLZZZ cDxDDDDDDDDxDDDDDDDDDDDxd DDddddddddxdxdxddxdxx XxxXxXXXX I hAZ ZKILLzzZ_*
Thats... pretty good.
Seriously, not sarcastic!
Skythedragon i can`t go to the mun, you gone to minmus!
lucas lima minmus is waaaay easier than mun
lucas lima 50 percent of the time my rocket blows up when I separate srbs. And 90 percent of the time I just fuck up my orbit and blow up😐
the ssto master back at it again
Thats a long ass trip for those tourists, I hope you provided snacks.
I love the colonel bogey intro.
43 YEARS of mission!?! Holy hell!
that unrelated footage bit really got my ;D
The unrelated footage earned my thumbs up for unrelated reasons.
um..... game wasn't crashed......
Maybe you have 128GBram...
no one knows how computers work
The Yangem Except you can’t run shit with 4GB or RAM.
Henry Chan you can play kerbal space program with it
Pfffffft 1 tb of ram, pls
MEKEX real man have over 9000 gb
"I will never send an SSTO to laythe again"
Welcome to Matt Lowne's Laythe Tour, which only costs a few million dollars and about half your lifetime!
atmosphere is E X T R A T H I C C
*sigh* goddamn it matt... raising the bar like this.
Those crazy spins... I wonder how many throws up during those..
Laythe Colonial Transporter - very good job ! :)
in real time this video would take 43 years dear god...
Make an orbital craft that runs only off of RCS
Sometimes when I go to Minimums, Mun sends me out of Kerbin's gravity.
Nice background music of Colonel Bogey March at the beginning.
Good SSTO video Matt, i can't play because my machine crashed and it's going to take a month of repairs to get it back to an operational state.
That explains the little dot flying into my friend.
And here I am being proud of myself getting a 3 person SSTO to the Mun and minmus...
10:31 pilots are like OOOOOH SHIIIIIIT!!!!
Mr Lowne. Some of the most impressive masterpiece (when comes to SSTO) were made by you! mah boy
Sad they're killed on ksp2
The rolling during landing would have created so high a G force..I don't think anyone would have survived that
I noticed you said NASA instead of ESA or whomever is your country's space agency, and it baffles me in a sense! How did America become so mainstream to everything? America is only 250 years old, versus England and places which date back idk how long but WAY longer than we do. I mean in the look of things, my country is in it's infantile stages being such a young country, yet somehow we were catapulted in to the main light somehow. Which we are nearly an extension of England, etc... We all came from there primarily, so yeah it just blows my mind apart!
You should do an underwater/underliquid eve or laythe base! Make the base neutrally buoyant or at the sea floor. You could have submarines that could shuttle kerbals from a floating launch/landing pad! It would be cool but the last part is far fetched. Also you should revisit your Jool station! By the by, love your videos.
Too low and you'll explode, too high and you'll pass by
Being in orbit is when you are high enough but still being pull by earths gravity but when you get pulled by gravity you are high enough that when the earth starts curving you are still up in the air. Basically, you are falling for an unlimited period time. That what it means too be in orbit
Note: to instantly land your craft on the surface, please press Alt+F4.
Great Vid Matt!
You are a god damn wizard
another great video, no surprise
Matt, you Scintillating Sanctimonious Scientist!
10:49 *"SO INCREDIBLY T H I C C"*
Nice mission! I wonder: would you be able to reenter Kerbin on the first pass after using your engines to slow down before the aerocapture?
10:14 I won't mention what I saw at first in the shadow, but after getting my mind out of the gutter and re-watching it, I was able to enjoy the video a bit more lol... if that didn't make sense, that's fine, it isn't making much sense to me at the moment. Sleep deprivation is a heck of a thing
the 124 passengers got to retire after just one mission! they may not have any bones left or eye sight, or sanity but they have a nice paycheck
"starts counting the kerbals to see if there are 124 of them." you know what fu** this I hope I can trust you XD.
Finally, an SSTO that doesn't have a MK3 design.
You are awesome matt!
i was just wondering but there is probably at least one person counting the kerbals in the shot near the end of the video
Ahh some good old colonel bogey in the background... I'm not even going to say the words to it
For a 45 year long mission - given NASA's limit of 3.8lb's of food per astronaut per day, and 90kg average astronaut... you'd need 330 seats weights just to support the food requirements of 1 astronaut
Kerbals are good stress fasters
to the Mun and back, no timewarp
"Let's try spinning, that's a good trick"
OMG I CAN'T BELIVE IT!!
Now try with tac life support
Man, i love your vids!
make a jumbo plane next!
jesus, 124 kerbal !? you are crazy!
I menaged to land my hudge 12x rapier and 2x nuclear SSTO with 2 Kerbals and mining equipment on the Mun (it's mining fuel for a home tripp), this creation is also on the Duna's orbit (I lost patience after 5-th crash landing ;) and I was so proud of myself...until now...
sorry for bad English and SSTO to Eve sea level and back to Kerbin, with no mining please ^^
"You'll need several hours of gameplay to pull this off!"
Has 396 hours of gameplay.
Can barely do a Mun SSTO
"Jool Space Station in ONE Launch!" I sleep
"124-seat Laythe SSTO in KSP 1.2 - no mining!" Real shit?
Do these ships have interior detail? Can you simulate being a passenger on the ship and move about the interior?
For some reason I could never get a fairing to work for the nose cone of my SSTOs, the thing would always generate ludicrous amounts of drag whenever I used it.
1 FPS is my normal framerate. Be happy, Matt.
And still i can land on the runway. And buildand fly SSTOs.
oh my god Matt you've done it again also could you send a HUGE rover to Duna I'm talking about using the biggest wheels and multiple science labs if you know what I mean
