Hi Paul. I hope you get to see this. Just like to say a Massive THANK YOU! Just got a 773 from killer ink. Came with the brother power. Got it working via WiFi via my phone, using Brother software. First go a printing DISASTER! Paper jam, just horrible. Watched this, plugged in an old hard drive power supply(12v2amp) next print, perfect! This has saved my a huge headache and troubling killer ink with my issues. You sorted everything out here. Your altruism knows no limits pal. May the universe be kind to you pal, as your a star 💫
It was frustrating me for soooo long. I just wanted to give him back i called to brother today. I would send him back to fix him because I have waranty. And i would have probably buyed the same one for the time that I have no printer so i can keep on working. Also because I didn't find any other good stencil printer.. I just found a 12V supplier from a beer light. Maannnn, the designs I tried and always jammed.. They go through now! A bit slow but it prints without jamming! Wow man, thanks!! Really saved me
THANK YOU! You saved my brother 883 from going into the trash bin 😂 I was so sadand so mad, trying to figure it out on my own. Then I found your video. Today my new ac/dc adaptoe 12v 2a was delivered and the magic happened (plus density settings). Thank you!
@@thomasthomas6534 i prepare the portrait before print it - I use to digital outline it using tablet. The stencil is really good this way. If I directly print the image, I'm not happy with the result
There is actually a setting if you look in one of the settings apps from their driver page - you have to be on updated firmware - for stencil mode and slower speeds. That worked for me a lot better than the 12v.
After years of using this and having all these issues to find out it was running just a lil to high on volts🤦♂️ thank you for the tip just printed the smoothest it’s ever printed
Hi Paul, great video, I am new to all this but have managed to purchase a brand new 623 with brother power supply, I have printed line work but have had issues with getting the stencil to transfer to skin. Could this be down to the power supply?
Iv seen some artists actually pulling/forcefully guiding thermal paper through to minimise any jamming.. but if this works better! Worth trying a few different plugs..
Hi paul, can you help me out? I’v changed the power supply to a 12v 2amp cause with the 15v it chewed the paper away, Now with the 12v charger it wont chew it but in the middle of the stencil the printer just turns off itself everytime. You know how to fix this problem?
Hi Paul - My PJ773 has DC IN 12V-15V on the machine. Can you recommend a good adaptor to buy instead of using the Brother 15v which was supplied with the machine?
12volt is still better. But the new 883 with the usbc supply is much improved. Often, the limitation is the paper. It just can’t handle that much heat. 👍
Man my stencil machine is so bad for small tattoos or details :( i will try this.. hope works better! I have the Brother PJ-723 and i use Spirit Stencil paper..
I made stancil on same way with smaler adapter 12v 2A and on Brother pocketjet PJ-773 wotk perfect. Specialy with Brother app where i can setting intesivity. Thank you.
I had a similar problem to that. Turned out it was the power lead. It had broken inside but the outer casing looked fine. My printer would randomly stop printing etc. All because of a Dodgy lead!
Can you do a video on how to print a document with regular paper. I’ve been trying for an hour or longer. Just keeps feeding paper the opposite way it should go, then switches back and shoots the paper out all in one go. There a certain paper I have to use because even when I got it to cooperate it fed out blank. And why would it start feeding the wrong way? I have the 763-Mfi
oookey so I just bought from killer ink, got it today and it didnt print out antything, not even a dot. I use Spirit thermal paper now. So why do they give us that adapter then when obviosly I wanna use it on stencil?? :( I have a big tattoowork in few days and this was supposed to help me now. And I cant even find 12V 2A herein norway, ugh...... Killer ink should do something about this, paid for it for this use.
I am in Canada and on Amazon there is a 3 to 24 V dc variable output power supply with a bundle of 14 different output plugs and polarity inversion adapter. Usable rotary switch output compatible values for Brother PJ-XXX Printer series are 10-12-14 Vdc @ 3 A and there is a big LED voltmeter on it. It should be very easy to choose a value corresponding to your preferred or future stencil paper choice.
The battery will still produce 15v so you’ll have the same issues as you would with the brother psu. Turning on stencil mode will help this a little but 12v is always better with the 7 Series. - p
@@ThatTattooShow If i live the battery in the printer, and the 12 volts charger conected to the printer, wich volts will the printer utilize 15 from the battery or 12 from the charger?
Paper jams always. Even i tilt the image a bit. I already tried your other tips and tricks video. It needs to 3-5 tries before you get the right density for it not to jam. But when i use stencil mode its too LIGHT. I don’t recommend this printer.

Sadly, that won’t work as the firmware cannot throttle the running voltage to 12v. The only effective way to make the machines run correctly with thermal paper is by using a 12v 2amp adapter. Period. You’re welcome.
@@ThatTattooShow Brother has a firmware update software where there is an option that you can mark your printer as a "STENCIL PRINTER". I did this several times on 600 and 700 series.
