Interesting to see a little bit of behind the scenes at a launch. Probably all the Multistrada most of us would ever need, but If I was in the market I would still hanker after the V4S.
After riding the V4S at a Ducati session, I missed my ST4s, the V4 was amazing but misses the energy and drive of a V2.
Smooth fast and like a Honda.
Well thats my view and I do like to see development, I am not a traditionalist..
Great presentation, it's nice to see what a bike can be like to just ride and not bounce off the rev limiter when just going down to get milk and bread. This had a lot more real world riding in it. Thanks.

KTM 990 SMT did all that-minus the electronics -12 years ago. Tyre technology has been one of the greatest improvements to handling, comfort and grip. The difference between the old Bridgestones of 15 years ago and something like the Metz M7RR is a revelatory. I’ve recently discovered the joys of single cylinder, non-electronic simplicity. No good for fully loaded, two up touring, but massive fun on the tiny back roads which rarely get visited by anyone except lost tourists and farmers make it a mini adventure within a few tens of miles - 43 bhp 150Kg perfect for the job.
I went for a KTM 690 Duke R lots of fun!

Watched your great honest review Mat, had a test ride, loved it, got a great deal and picking my red one up on Friday. After three GSs I’d had enough of the weight and fancied something different, a very underrated package and yes I tried the over priced V4. To be honest I can’t wait and taking it back to Italy next year😎.
May I ask, price difference aside, what did you make swing over to the V2s?
11:05 Would you say the bike is undersprung if you want to tour with a 200lbs (90kg) rider and 120lbs (54kg) passenger? Or with the electronic preload you have enough adjustment to make it work even with luggage for a super smooth and comfortable ride? Was the bottoming out before or after you set the proper preload setting?
New ones are a bit salty for me, so we are struggling by with our 2015 white 1200s !!!! Got it with 21,000 miles for 10 grand !! Truly the best bike I have ever owned!!! And I am 69 !! 😂😂😂😂😂🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍🍺🍺🍺🍺

I like the idea of this bike and would consider one if I hadn't such a bad experience with the 2015 Multi - it was always in the dealers being repaired and eventually rejected it.

I see you are going about 70 kmph in the second gear! What is actually the recommended gear to ride this without over accelerating?
950 & V2 are may favourite Multistradas!
I think it perfect, I got rid on my 2015 DVT due it's lumpiness at most normal conditions AND it just does not need 160 hp. Great for a arm stretching squirt in a straight line but where else can you use the ponies? I had more fun on my vstrom 650. Handleing is always stellar on the multi. I am sure the 950 will be a much better bike for most of us. The manufacturer's have jumped the shark with too much unusable horsepower.
Just an opposing view: I have a ‘13 multi 1200. But I live at 4000 feet elevation, and do 90% of my riding at 5000-7000 ft. Given drive line loss and altitude induced hp loss, i’m already down to 105-120 hp at the wheel depending where I am at the moment. So all the hp becomes very usable for me.
I loved my 15 plate 1200 dvt base. Miss it for road presence, but other better cheaper more fun bikes out there.

Ducati is so expensive in Australia… that even the owners are afraid to mention how much it costs to service or maintain. Saw the Multistrada on the weekend and it was like Time stood still ☺️Lovely bikes though 🤗… Great style of reviewing.. subscribed.
Try the V2 then try a V4, then buy the V4. The V4 is astonishing, I'd have been disappointed if I'd have gone for the V2, I'd be hesitant to overtake on the V2 compared to the V4, you really do need all those horses with the V4, it is incredible. The downsides of the V4? It drinks fuel, but that's because you're munching miles and having so much fun on it, and you want to nail it, everywhere.
The 950 multi was the bike I wanted when it first came out but it was just not suitable for this vertically challenged oldey who often had a pillion .I did sample it and it was great .I may have to revisit the new version .
I think the V2 is only 10mm lower but on the S version you can lower it a bit further using the skyhook suspension
@@les2935 It is also a thinner seat, so it feels much lower.. They are worlds apart, I've ridden them both... I have a 30' inseam...

Thanks Mat. What a nice treat despite the weather and restrictions. I like the dash (electronics), that both head lights are on. What is missing is engine sound... this isn't an electric motor right?
I read and watched various reviews about the new multistrada V2 , but why no body pointed out that it's actually just a multistrada 1260 with smaller engine and minor changes?
I have never understood the turning lights in the handguards. Looks so easy to break and I guess expensive to replace.
Thats a deal breaker for a california lane splitter like me. I brake my bar end mirrors regularly
For a fit 60 yr-old, which of these bikes that you've reviewed would you recommend for "enthusiastic" touring--the V4, the K1600GT or GT, or the V2? I've had 2 K1600GT and am considering buying a new bike, would love your opinion. Thanks.

I do wonder if they do more to these bikes than polish them for the camera. Do they fine tune the fuel mapping so they ride perfectly for the journalist’s?? That would be interesting to know( for the buyers/not the bike makers)

I paid $22,000 Canadian for my 2017 triumph trophy it came with a button for heated grips installed, and no actual heated grips 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣

Mat, did Ducati supply a dozen brand new bikes? After 5 mins on gravel surely they become very secondhand. Do they then use them at a dozen dealers as demos, or sell them as new bikes with a few hundred miles on the clock? I've always wondered how they deal with this.
Get yourself a pair of those enduro SIDI boots. Gortex, comfortable and like wearing ski boots. Best boots I ever bought. £300 sheets though 😬. Buuuut, they’ll last forever, you can replace the chunky soles, lifetime guarantee, if they leak you get new ones. The fasteners can be replaced easily, I haven’t had to but if they were to break, you can just undo the screws.
At the price of high end bikes these days,,full safety and things like heated grips should absolutely be standard.

I’m currently on a ‘21 950S, best bike I’ve ever had. Also, I prefer it to the 1260.
I have a 2020 950s, it's a fantastic bike to ride everywhere, cornering, light off road, totally satisfied 🇧🇷✌🏻

Hmm...i actually like how this looks instead of the V4s..it's less busy? If that makes sense.... wouldnt mind a slight bump into a 1000cc though.

Isn't the rear brake connected to the front making dragging difficult to impossible? Lose the rider modes and traction control, make cruise and heated grips standard. No one who knows how to ride needs rider modes or traction control.

Great launch report Mat. Gotta say I think 110-125 usable bhp is the sweet spot for any twin/triple road bike. You can wring its neck without hitting hyperspace and in theory, immature middle-aged fools like me and thee have a fighting chance of keeping our licences. No overtaking on a press launch? Not overtaking used to be considered an offence.
Great review, but there is one characteristic thats often forgotten...fuel consumption!? Petrol is now so expensive, and that's something I think about before I buy a bike , especially if it's your daily drive or if you do alot of travelling. Ducati's have been known to be a bit thirsty...
Mine averages 4.9 litres per 100 kms with half of my riding in the city and the other half on country roads at a spirited pace. I wouldn’t call that thirsty.

Since I saw new MV Agusta 9.5 Lucky Explorer I cant help it, but all other new (or "new") adventure bikes look less interesting then they should. I am very interested in comparing it with bikes like this Ducati, KTM 890 Adv, Triumph Tiger 900 etc. And since everything that is new is probably beta tester today, well... I may wait sometime before somebody talks about the reliability.
Nice video though, was enjoyable to watch, Ducati does their homeworks nicely, diferentiating themselves from others by making sportier kind of adventure bikes. Kinda like Porsche SUVs.

No adaptive cruise control, and blind spot awareness as like on the V4 at least as options is disappointing.
Excellent review once again! I'd consider buying one, even the base model, rider aids be damned!...the V4 is much more bike, but cost prohibitive. So give the base one with heated grips & cruise control
