Trivia: During the final car chase, you can see a theater marquee that is playing the 1962 version of CAPE FEAR. Barrie Chase had a featured role in that film.

John Morgan Another Mad bit of trivia! Stan Freberg, one of the actors in the background of the film, also originally had speaking roles which were cut and never ever saved. He also made radio commercials for the movie!

This movie maybe too long to watch but it's the funniest movie ever made.I saw this in 73 or 74 and I was hooked. The cast was great, the car chases fabulous I thought i couldn't stop laughing every scene was hilarious they put all the stops. The scene with the airport where they landed and the stunts perfect

Slight correction, a car didn't "fly off this cliff". It went sailing right out there.

I've been a fan of IaMMMMW since the mid-60s, when I was a child. It's amazing I didn't know about your RUclips channel before. I just found it. I've seen the film probably more than 50 times, and I have absorbed almost every piece of information about it available. The greatest mystery to me was that I had a vague memory of Dick Shawn jumping into the red Dodge and speeding away. I figured I had made it all up in my mind until I heard that a scene did exist (one of the sources was Mark Evanier's blog), but it was cut very early after the film's first release. Had I seen it as a child? It was not a dream? I have seen the photo still, and it unfortunately doesn't match my memory. I recalled it as the Dodge being in a driveway and Shawn backing it out, throwing it in D, and speeding away, and no memory of Barrie Chase with him. So, I'm not sure my mystery was solved, but anyway interesting to know the scene was shot. Thanks for the interview! I subscribed, and I'll watch the rest of your videos.

I'm sure you know, Barrie Chase has a huge fan base out there. Could you just do a side series where you just talk to Barrie Chase and have lot of clips for her to look at and comment on? This installment would have been notably improved if you have an iPad for her to watch that dance sequence that she hadn't seen since she worked on IAMMMMW. I envy you for having access to this wonderful woman. What stories she can tell. And you can be part of that.

Be sure & pick up the 5 disc set released in 2015 ( wonderfully remastered & restored ): The Criterion Collection - It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. Do a SEARCH & you get get the list of special features included. The commentary track on that film is one of the BEST I've ever heard. What's strange is that early today ( Aug. 20th, 2017 ).....I had JUST finished watching a short documentary on 'the making of'..........and I was reminded that ( I think these are the only 2 ) only Carl Reiner & Jerry Lewis were still alive. Didn't Marvin Kaplan pass away last year? As soon as the documentary ended, before logging off.......I decided to check the headlines on my homepage. BAM! Jerry died today at age 91. I'm a little surprised that George Burns ( & maybe his wife Gracie ) weren't in the film somewhere.

In a couple of chase sceans. Obviously near Long Beach Naval Station. There were a couple of Aircraft Carriers in the background. One appeared to be an Essex class Carrier and the other. A Midway class. You might have to blow up an image to get the numbers on the smokestacks. Do you know what ships they were ?.

To be fair, this film features an incredible spectrum of comedy, and doesn't indulge in any one part too much. Don't like it? It'll be over soon. However, like long playing records, there are sections you initially want to skip over, but turn out to be slow burners that you come to love. Dick Shawn's part was that for me, and myself and friends often lampoon him when driving anywhere.
