    I bought the 70-200 2.8E FL ED VR when it's on sale ($650 off). The lens is incredibly sharp. AF with D500 is super fast. Many complained the zoom ring placement. I actually like the design. With battery grip on D500, it's very natural to hold the lens without touching the focus ring. I used it to shoot sports and got great results. I am looking for a 17-55 2.8 but it seems it has no match to the 70-200 2.8 FL.

    I know you hate the Nikon 80-400mm but to be honest it works fine for me but agree the 200-500mm is a good lens and costs a lot less. Keep up the good work.

    Great vid! As epic a lens as the 200-500 is (I own it, it's epic!) I do think you need to get a review in of the Tamron 150-600 G2. (has to be G2) I've seen a lot of posts in your vids asking about it and I don't think there's another person on youtube that'll do it properly like you. The flickr page for the Tamron has some amazing shots and in particular Rowe's BIF page on the lens is ridiculous and I mean ridiculous... so it might be worth putting it through the cycle! With Tamron having a few other really nice SP lenses I think a lot of people are wondering if the 150-600 is a dud like the 15-30 or dud. Thanks Ken love your work!!

    Ive always shot sports and wildlife with a 70-200 2.8 VR II and the the 300mm 2.8 VR. The 300mm is kinda heavy but not too bad, I did a whole day at a zoo carrying it and was fine - no damage to my D700 and got some really epic shots. The only time I notice a big lens like the 300 2.8 is when I sot down for a cofee and its on the table.

    Theoria Apophasis, in your opinion how does the Nikon 200-500 holds up to the150-600 lenses of Sigma and Tamron?
    Is the fact that it is also from Nikon makes the D500 more optimized for Nikon lenses like the 200-500?

    What is the model number of the $600 lens that is attached to the camera? I'm looking for a replacement (under $1,000) for the 70-300mm vr lens that I dropped. I used it to take bird photos with a Nikon D850.

      I used that lens on a Nikon D90 (crop sensor) for aerial photography. The auto focus was fast enough. The image rendition was a little flat. The reach was good, though 400mm on the long end could have come in handy. I wonder how it compares to the 200-500mm on a full frame?

    Theoria Apophasis, would you be able to do a comparison between the AF-S 70-200 f/2.8E FL ED VR and AF DC-NIKKOR 105mm f/2D?

    • @kathodosdotcom
      @kathodosdotcom  7 лет назад

      now thats some radical apples to oranges comparison :) ease and speed and convenience are the only reason id grab the 70 200 over the 105
      however ease and speed and convenience happen all the time as necessities, dont they

    I have taken great wildlife pics with the 200-400mm, birds on the wing, even using a TC, how does it suck?
    TC if a bird is close is fine in good light, even the hated 2X.
    I even have the original version, sure, it's a 5.6, If one uses it properly it is not a bad lens at all.
    What, do people not realize the limitations, a 400 is not going to be great for any object that is too far away and any 5.6 is not great in low light.
    . The 300mm 2.8 sets in the tripod, the 200-400 is around my neck on another camera without the tripod mound, it's light and I don't even worry about damage to the camera.
    And why would I prefer a 400 3.5 over a 400 2.8 using a TC other than price?

    Most game systems are loss leaders. It's a known thing in the gaming world, when new systems come out - the companies lose around $100 a system. Only to make it back in software sales.

    Nice tips! I really enjoyed the video! Why do you say AF-S NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR sucks? I have one... And i do not have many complains about it.... The only downside I found is its mediocre build quality... Dust gets inside it... But apart from that, I have nothing to complain about these lenses...

    I've tried a D500 with that new 70-200 f2.8 & it's unreal. However I still think Canon has the best wildlife telephoto the EF 100-400 f4-5.6 mark 2 lens, sharp & more compact.

      bobbintonn could I ask you? if I have choice between d500 d750 canon 6d for family and life around
      what will be your advice?
      thanks

    • @Vaptomwen
      @Vaptomwen 7 лет назад

      On those 3 , probably still the D750 over the D500 as DX doesn't have many wide angle lenses , but otherwise D500 is a good choice. As for Canon I'd wait for a 6D Mark 2 , there are many great L lenses for Canon & 3rd party . Maybe Nikon will soon update the D750 as well.

      but tell me please also about nikon technical support . if I buy any nikon camera. not from official shop. and I'll get some trouble with camera. service centre of nikon will fix my camera? because I heard something. but maybe it is rumours? !))))

    • @Vaptomwen
      @Vaptomwen 7 лет назад

      #Evos I have never dealt with the technical support of any camera company so I can't help you there. Not even my D600 had the famed oil leak of You Tube. I'll also add I have never bought a camera online or grey market & I happy to support actual physical store where you can try physical cameras. Otherwise I'd probably have bought camera like the original em 5 or Fuji XT1 both of whom I don't get on with the ergonomics & controls. Equally thanks to physical stores I can say the Canon 5D Mark 4 is quite an enjoyable camera to use.

      I seen one guy taking images of a little tiny screw that was maybe 2mm long. He had a ton of extension on the lens and was filling the frame with it. I think he said he was for a catalogue. It amazes me that a screw can be manufactured that tiny. Like those tiny screws holding your macbook together.
