I guess we both ended up on this video for the same reason. A show striving too far from its source material to appeal to many fans and yet too convulsed and confusing to be targeted at a fully new audience. Seems to me like they didn't have any faith in the source material itself.
They were going to at the height of Halos hype but it fell through. They did test screening and everything I think. Neil Blomkamp was going to direct it. After it fell through They used some of the test footage for that live action halo marketing campaign I'm pretty sure. Then Neil went on to make district 9 not long after. I actually think some designs made it into the district 9 film but I'm not positive.
Women can have facial hair and sure a Spartan would be pretty masculine. In fact you'd probably not have female Spartans or you wouldn't really be able to distinguish them with all the augmentation.
Totally agree."Halo: Landfall" promoting Halo 3 was great too. In this video they said how "iconic" the Spartan armor already was (2010), and that it had to look as "hero like" as possible. Wish some one would have sent that memo to the Paramount series producers, MC's armor at times looked Halloween costume grade...smh.

The Master Chief has to be one of the most iconic characters of all time. He really does inspire people to believe and to be brave. I can not wait to see what happens to him in Halo 4. 343 did a fantasic job with CE remake and will do an even better job with the fourth installment of Halo. may the Chief be with you

@212DP actually the director Neil Blokamp and producer Peter Jackson were going to make this movie and they made part of it but it was far too expensive and have postponed it for later. They were looking around for other ideas to make similar to this and that's where the movie District 9 came up as. If the Halo movie was made then it would be around the same time as District 9 came out.

The chemicals used to augment the spartans were entirely different from the chemicals used in Orion. Alos Orion was a group of volunteers, majority of which consisted of aged officers. The Spartan program consisted of children that were forced into the program. In my mind this is why they're different.

It explains the first time contact was made with the Covenant on Harvest. You should check it out, its a really good book. I hope the Independent Halo Movie that is about to come out turns to be as good as this Trailer , they say the special effects crew from Avatar is working with them but im concern since is with a limited budget and the story is not in the official canon.
