But if you think about it, what about super silent stealth missions? 500 years into the future, advanced radar would detect the pods. So wouldn't deployments like HA-LO insertions still be used, just with better tech?

Against an overwhelmingly superior foe humans still prevail. Like a Wolfpack out on a hunt. Such a missed opportunity with the new halo show. Halo landfall and the ODST live action out everything
So many amazing assets from the live action Halo 3-Reach trailers wasted. Could've gone into making amazing Halo content for TV/film, instead we're stuck with Forward Unto Dawn and Nightfall.

Also, Sierra is part of the military phonetic alphabet (A=Alpha, B=Beta, C=Charlie, D=Delta, etc.) and most militarys use this alphabet to codename things, such as a target site, person, target person, or even squad. For example in the Canadian Forces there is a regiment called the "Royal Canadian Regiment"
If you want to be totally accurate. Spartans are Navy special forces because the rank of Master Chief is Navy specific, no one else uses the petty officer ranking nomenclature. Being first a former Navy dependent and then serving myself, when Halo first premiered I was really glad to see the Navy finally get some attention from sci-fi. My bootcamp CC (Company Commander) was lead by an MC. I met a lot of Chiefs while my dad was in and Halo was prety accurate in his personality heh.

@DrN0mN0mN0m It carries one guy because ODST drop in heavy fire zones, which usually have anti-air. They drop individually because its harder to destroy a bunch of smaller targets than it is to destroy the normal pelican dropship
@miniwars123 i agree, i loved playing through ODST but when i got to multiplayer i could only play with people on my friends list. maybe if it had some sorta slayer or other variant yeah. and firefight matchmaking, that would be nice. and the idea of the drop pod spawn would be bad ass. XP
some people actually make armour and sell it. or parts of it etc. I met one guy who makes his partially out of military grade gear so not only does he have the look and ruggedness of armour, but also its bullet resistant in places...
@dogman123andrew and then the RCR is seperated into batallions, (1RCR, 2RCR etc.) then in those battalions it is seperated into Squads or units, (Alpha Squad, Bravo Squad, etc.) Also, I just realized in my other comment I said B=beta where it is actually Bravo, sorry.
even Steve Downs believes there will be a movie! i mean 'Forward Unto Dawn' is a step in the right direction and all together the series of shorts will be (i think) an hour and a half. Maybe we're getting there... eventually.

I give credit to the airbourne units, i just picture if there was ODST not only could we base this rapid unit on earth, but anywhere, though, you do have a point, they are using space ships.
@DrN0mN0mN0m parachutes are slow and leave you vulnerable when they are deployed, not to mention legitimately difficult to quickly take off drop pods are heavily armored, can safely and effectively store equipment, and travel o fast to be easily shot down until they hit the ground oh, and they look badass

@pricture Spielberg didn't make District 9. He didn't direct it either. The director was Neill Blomkamp. Blomkamp was signed on to direct The Halo Movie; with Jackson as Producer. But he wanted a budget over $200 million, and the studio didn't trust Blomkamp with it, seeing as how at that time he'd never made a full length feature. So they scrapped it. Jackson felt bad because he saw the promise in Blomkamp, so produced District 9 for him to prove to the studio that he could make a full length.

But instead it was exactly the same as Halo 3. The commercial made me believe it was going to have an intense story but it didn't. So whatever...
well what separates air assault infantry from other airborne divisions? they all have a different punch (So to speak) ODST, just imagine the mobility, the rapid assault, and the intense training and gear, you could spend hours mobilizing troops into a plane to a location, or you could have men and women, ready to fight in a flash from the earths orbit.
they should have made a mini series about ODST ala band of brothers....
