You have to see Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish Called Wanda, Trading Places, Freaky Friday, True Lies, Knives Out, and Everything Everywhere All at Once. Such a great actress. So many horror movies have been influenced by this one right up to modern times.
One thing that people always seem to forget: the people in horror movies don't know that they're in a horror movie, and that the rules of real life do not apply. Normally, when you stab someone in the neck with a knitting needle, you don't expect that person to get up again. And when you stab a person in the eye with a wire hanger, then stab them in the gut with a huge knife, they definitely are not getting up again. That is why Laurie drops the knife. In real life, there is no way Michael gets up again. This also applies to most horror movies. Only in when you're in a horror movie do you have to kill the killer multiple times to even have a chance at being safe, and even then, you're probably not.
Great fun reaction beautiful ❤ just a great first real slasher movie... One note of clarification since you don't celebrate Halloween like we do here in the US. When Laurie went banging on the neighbor's door the reason they didn't answer and shut off the lights was likely due to pranksters doing it all night to them so they just avoided it. 😊😎
You liked the gravestone on the bed scene. One of the major studio theme parks in Orlando recreated that scene in the room for their movie tour - that's the room I remember most there.
Regarding the sound balancing, many movies from the '70s get remixed years laster for remastering and it's not always an improvement. On top of that the audio doesn't always process properly through streaming services and I think that's what you're experiencing on this film. You need to check out a physical copy to hear the audio properly, and in the case of this movie I think the original 1978 mono track is on the disc, which is how it would have been heard originally.
For something completely different but spooky, you should watch the 1971 film "The Andromeda Strain." It is extremely entertaining and sort of in the realistic realm of a science fiction story that is close to realistic.
"I'm guessing there's a second movie ..." yeah, about 20. I don't remember many, but 2 is good, a continuation of that night at the hospital. And I think 3 is excellent. It has no Michael Meyers, but it's a very well-done film.
A classic film. This is the best of the slasher films. I definitely recommend Halloween 2 (1981). A great film by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. I have two film recommendations for you. First, if you want to see Jamie Lee Curtis in another horror film. I recommend "The Fog" a great 1980 film also by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. She stars with the late Hal Holbrook, Adrienne Barbeau, and her famous actress ",Psycho" (1960) scream Queen mom, "Janet Leigh. A very good scary and suspenseful film. Finally, if you want an idea for November, I recommend "Dutch" a great American 1991 Thanksgiving film, starring Ed O'Neill from "Modern Family" and "Married With Children". A great film written by the late and great John Hughes and Directed by Richard Vane. A funny, yet meaningful film. Great review!
Just so you know…. The Halloween series has 4 different storylines. 1. H1 and H2 2. H1, H2, H4, H5, H6 3. H1, H2, H H20, H Resurrection 4. H1, H 2018, H Kills, H Ends The Halloween series originally meant to be a anthology which is why Halloween 3 is a different story. But when H3 was released they realized people wanted more Michael Myers. Also it’s 2 complete remakes by a director named Rob Zombie who came out with H 2007 and H2 2009. Definitely watch the other Halloween movies. Check out the movies Trick ‘r Treat(2007), Friday the 13th(1980), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(1974), The Shining(1980), Child’s Play(1988), and Psycho(1960).
“Why are they making it so s*xual?” Remember: Michael's sister's boyfriend has just made o*t with her on the sofa in the living room. You can guess the rest, which happened upstairs in the sister's room. Immediately afterwards, Michael comes into her bedroom. So why would she be dressed? She doesn't know that her little brother is suddenly standing in front of her. The camera angle at the beginning shows the situation from Michael's perspective. He also puts on the clown mask that was on the floor, and from now on we see the action through the slits in the mask, once again from Michael's point of view.
I know why she was naked lol I meant her screaming while being murdered was made very sexual as well as all the other female murders in the movie, it was very strange
Michael has no motive. He just kills because he wants to. No hate, no love, no obsession. Just murder. Unless you go with the Thorn trilogy. I prefer the Strode trilogy.
You know what is a Trope? Movie reactors assuming that a movie is going to be lesser, or presumed ineffective because it’s a classic. In most cases, filmmaking and effects were even better before CGI and major jumpscares. Movies like Halloween, JAWS and Psycho show how effective the use of a good score placed at exactly the right moment, is everything within the realms of Horror film.
The point that she seems to be overlooking in her critique of this movie, when compared to others, is that it is both fictional and grounded in reality. The FBI, estimates up to 2000 unknown serial killers in America, so who knows how many there are worldwide. That means, a “Mike Myers” can be staring at her, through a window right now.🎃
Hi Iced Quokka, how are you lovely beautiful lady? I find this movie and the whole franchise vastly overrated and even after all these years, there's still been no payoff. A proper horror movie that I highly recommend for you to react to is An American Werewolf In London (1981) It has a satisfying payoff, terrifying scares, incredible academy award winning special make up effects and funny moments too.
He wasn't disfigured at the end. He had just had a coat hanger stabbed into his eyeball..
This movie ranked at #14 in the 100 scariest movie moments on Bravo
Great reaction to a classic! It's a must-watch tradition.
Potentially might be my new re watch for the halloween season 🥰

Nick Castle played Michael, but for that brief Unmasked scene at end,it was Tony Moran brother of Erin Moran ,Joanie on Happy Days tv show🎃🎃
it's a tradition for me to watch this movie on Halloween every year.
It’s the perfect movie for halloween 😍

This movie is scary. A classic
What a great soundtrack!
It’s honestly so good!!

Yes, Halloween 2, Same night!!! Watch it next!!!
John Carpenter was a drummer so he got the theme song from a drum exercise.
You liked the gravestone on the bed scene. One of the major studio theme parks in Orlando recreated that scene in the room for their movie tour - that's the room I remember most there.
Black Christmas (1974) and My Bloody Valentine (1981) are pretty good too.
Lets not encourage psychopaths by telling them they can do better.😊

Btw Iced Quokka, this is Jamie Lee Curtis very first movie.
On Halloween you're not gonna notice someone walking around in a mask. Driving around in a mask on the other hand is very weird.
For something completely different but spooky, you should watch the 1971 film "The Andromeda Strain." It is extremely entertaining and sort of in the realistic realm of a science fiction story that is close to realistic.
I used to watch it and enjoy as a kid but im old I grew out of it doesn't scare me anymore

Check out Halloween 2 and The Thing.
You need to react to "I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) " one of the best modern suspense horror movies.
I think it was a struggle to get hold of pumpkins as it was filmed in the spring.
LOL

Michael Myers is really a boogie man. If you continue to watch the Halloween series, you'll find out why he is the way he is.
This was the movie that gave Jamie Lee Curtis her nickname "Scream Queen".
She is really not a very good actress, though.
@@trhansen3244 If youre pertaining to this movie, you know it was her film debut right? You cant expect an Oscar performance for your first movie..lol
@@angelomaurizio1668 I am not. I am talking about her career overall.
@@trhansen3244 Everyone has their opinion.
John Carpenter wrote, directed and did the music for this film.
Please watch the other Scream movies as Well, they were sooo goood
Planning on continuing them very soon 😊 I’m really excited to watch them! If not in November then in January 🥰
naked people always get hairs on the camera lens in horror movies in the 70s
6:39 driving is easy as there are millions of morons on the roads daily
You need to watch Halloween 2 it takes place right after same night
She got up to 108 bpm.
You definitely need to watch Halloween 2. The rest can be skipped.

I like Halloween 2 better.
Crazy talk. You are likely a Trump supporter and therefore a white Nazi white supremacist fascist dog walking white thespian.

I'd like to watch but I haven't seen this movie so allegedly you are not allowed to watch a reaction of a movie you haven't seen 😶🌫
LMAO cheater

The first one is enough for
Me, never watched any of the later ones.
Could have done without the opening line. So cringe..
I agree. The original is fantastic but I don't get all the hype after that. 2 and 4 are ok at best but that's it
