    🌺 I installed peel & stick tile in my RV & one thing that was very helpful was when starting a new piece, I would only peel back 1 -2 inches to get it started & in place. Then I would slowly pull the rest of the backing paper. While gently pulling the backing paper I used a rubber squeegee to push against the tile to the wall & it was very helpful!! It kept the pieces from leaving any bubbles & layed all the tiles down at the same time for great adhesion. Make sure you have great scissors, plenty of razor blades, marker, pencil, level, good heavy duty ruler 📐, if you use a plastic ruler most likely you will cut into it and it will cause problems getting a good sharp edge. PVC trim, caulk.

    if you peel off only the part you are about to stick and pull more off as you go it will help from getting stuck in places you aren't ready to stick yet

    Thanks for the helpful video. I think I will unscrew the cap around my window, so if the cut is not perfect, the cap will cover it.

    If you live in Arizona it bubbles up in the heat and does not stay stuck in all places from my experience. Better off making a faux subway with either wood or draw with a marker on a clean or painted wall.

      Those are good ideas too! We can get pretty hot (100ish) in Wisconsin, but the humidity is brutal. Nothing like Arizona’s hot days though!

    I added peel and stick tile to my RV kitchen as well but my experience was on was not good. I didn't know at the time that some brands of stick on tile will turn yellow in the heat or cold of an RV. The color I purchased was a mix of light browns/tans/grays and white. It made the whole area look really nice. Unfortunately the tile turned a light yellow within a few months and after one year was much darker yellow and it started peeling up at the seams. I live in south Florida which very well may have everything to do with it. Thankfully, it come off the wall very easily with no tearing of the wallpaper and I believe that was due to the extreme heat in the RV at the time I took it down. Live and learn.

    From experience this stuff does not stay stuck to the wall. All it takes is the hot summer and the cold winter and it peels right off. I even added a line of silicon at the top to help it from pealing and it lost adhesion in the center. Save yourself some time.

    Love the look and you make it look so easy to install! Do you think it would work to cover existing ceramic tiles in a kitchen backsplash that are outdated?

    • @SilverLiningDayDreams
      @SilverLiningDayDreams  2 года назад +3

      Thanks. I don’t think it will work over tiles as surface needs to be flat. Some people have painted their ceramic tiles. Have you considered painting? 😊

    Thank You for sharing! This video was very helpful. Other than cleaning was there anything else you did to prep your wall for peel & stick tile? It looks great 👍

    • @SilverLiningDayDreams
      @SilverLiningDayDreams  2 года назад +2

      Thanks. I think sometimes people paint and don’t let it cure long enough before attaching the peel n stick. If walls were primed wait at least a week and if you top coated over the primer wait at least 2 or 3 weeks. Take care 😊

    This looks great and the tiles look so sticky. How have they held up now that it has been on for about 8 months? I have watched one video giving a 1 year update and theirs started falling off the wall so I am curious about the product you used. Also, I have clicked the amazon link you shared and it is not an active link....boo-hoo🥴 TIA

      Thanks. We’ll put a newer link that we found at the end of this comment. We were last at the camper in the middle of March and I looked closely at the peel & stick subway tiles and they were holding on tight to the wall. So all is good. We’re thinking because we painted and let it cure a month before applying we have less chance of it coming off. I don’t think we’ll no for sure if it will stay on the wall until the end of 2022 because we have to actually use the camper more with the temps and humidity fluctuating over the coming year. So stay tuned 😊.

    Hi, The backsplash looks amazing, I am wondering whether it has held up through out the summer heat? thanks for the video I'm thinking of putting peel and stick into my van this week

    • @SilverLiningDayDreams
      @SilverLiningDayDreams  Год назад +1

      Thank you, it held up beautifully! I think the reason is that we primed and used good paint over the old wallpaper, and we let it cure around a month before we used the peel and stick. It’s not the “quick and easy” way, but we’ve never had any problems with that or the wallpaper we put in. It’s been over a year! 🙌

    Is that a product design for RVs only? Or is that something that you could install as an alternative for backsplash in the house?

    • @SilverLiningDayDreams
      @SilverLiningDayDreams  2 года назад +3

      Can be used for either in a house or in an RV. The real thing does look better in my opinion but the peel and stick still looks nice; especially in an RV 😊

      We’re in the upper Midwest and as of November it was spot on sticking.
      No problems with anything. Because it’s in winter storage we haven’t been there since November. In 2 or 3 weeks we will be at the RV and will do a follow up video at some point. Stay tuned 😊

    Curious, was there a reason you painted before applying your tiles? Also, just one coat of what primer?

    • @SilverLiningDayDreams
      @SilverLiningDayDreams  4 месяца назад +1

      Sorry for the late response.
      It’s been a while, but I think we put two coats of primer and at least one topcoat maybe two top coats.
      We did this for two reasons… one is after it cures for a month (all you really would need is one coat of primer though) the wallpaper may adhere better.
      The second reason is that if we remove the wallpaper for a change then everything would already have been painted.
      Take care 😊

    Question since this was over 2 years ago did the backsplash stay up or fall down? We did this and it fell off after sitting in the high heat of summer in storage. So trying to figure out the best way to do this.

    • @SilverLiningDayDreams
      @SilverLiningDayDreams  8 месяцев назад +1

      Our held up great! It may have to do with us using the primer and letting it cure for a few weeks. Try the primer, and let us know if you try it again!

      Sorry to hear that! There’s a love hate relationship with peel and stick. Some people apply it correctly and still have problems. We were fortunate to have it keep sticking two years later. Can’t wait for spring to be able to get back into our camper! Take care 😊

    Loosen your outlet and shim it out and reuse your cover plate.
