A Good Choice? Self Adhesive 'Peel and Stick' Tiles + Posh Wallpaper in Camper Van Conversion

- Unsure whether these sticky self adhesive 'peel and stick' tiles are any good? Well we wondered too, and this week we use them to tile our van conversions kitchen and decorate with some posh paste the wall wallpaper.

There's no doubt that using these peel and stick subway tiles are quicker and easier for the novice; plus they are a lot lighter. On paper they seem like a fantastic idea, despite this we weren't totally sold as we began using them. But you need tiles in van life, and these are super popular and affordable.
We have also selected some new wallpaper this week, as we wanted to inject a pop of colour in our van conversion. This was new to us; not least as it is a paste the wall type of paper. We were then left with a problem of how to finish the edges between the tile and paper.
Like most things we are novices at this, and just wanted to share how we did it. Let us know what you think in the comments.

- trim fix adhesive
- white wood filler
- CBE sockets
- paste the wall wallpaper paste is Anaglypta brand. It has PVA in it and was from Toolstation
- Wallpaper was from Lust home

We used those exact ones in my mums van 3 years ago and we've been to Portugal and Spain and they've stayed on and most people think they are real!

Morning guys, I've used the self adhesive tiles in the kitchen area of my caravan, and absolutely love them, so much that this winter I'm going to put some in my shower room/dressing room, and man that wallpaper looks fantastic and the wooden trim finishes off perfectly, can't wait for next week's video

I used those tiles in my ambulance, they stop being quite so sticky on the face after a few washes but they are silicon so allways feel sticky when dry 🤔
I love the wallpaper 😎 a bit trippy, id get Lilly to colour it in 😁 some nice bright 🌈 colours 👍 the wood strips look good and hide the join lovely 👍

Ah that’s good to know re. The stickiness and makes sense. They did seem a bit gummy for sure.
Lol Re. The colouring. It has already been suggested and we’ve already hidden the crayons (jokes).
Those tiles look great and really go with the build, great skills even when winging it! Electrocution isn't fun 😂
Ha. You know it - always try to avoid electrocution if you can.
Not a lover of tiling and papering and like you I hate the gap sealing..never get it straight. I’ve got so re sealing to do myself after finding a leak in my hightop van..waiting for the gunk to arrive..night of thunder and lightning heavy rain and worry..it’s what you get when you cut corners with iffy materials. Again looks a nice job you’ve done there..keep up the good work.
Ahh, yes it’s a struggle. We might redo the bead along the back as it’s just not quite right. It’s so tricky though, something to master 😆
The struggle is real brother..more rain this afternoon, I’m gonna be left with a swimming pool instead of a camper at this rate. Why does it always happen just before a chuffin rain storm..why didnt I notice the leak when it was dry..one of life’s little conundrums. Stay dry, stay straight.

Good eye. Believe it or not it’s always been like that. That piece of birch was less than perfect from new, which was a shame. Weirdly you can’t see it when the light is off, which is a bonus. I think if I ever get another piece I’ll recut it, but it looks way worse on camera to be fair. Good eye lol.

Lol on this occasion it wasn’t me. I’d own up to it haha. What is true is I knew it was there, decided I’d put it on the ‘inside’ then totally mounted the doors the wrong way round to hide it. So in a way it was my fault but not. But was 😂
Looks amazing guys, great job 😁 I always cut something wrong when making stuff for the van. I have learnt to count it as a first try 😉 also hate mastic, but have found WD40 to be my friend, you can get a really nice finish 😁
Oh that’s a nice tip, will look into that. I do think I’ll be giving it another go as it’s not quite right. The tiles have worked out well though 😊.

So top tip for WF40…squeeze on mastic, chalk or adhesive as required, then get a rubber/latex glove, put it on, squirt some WD onto your finger of the glove and a small amount along what you have just laid. Then just run your glove finger along. You can mould the stuff in what ever shape you like, you don’t get messy and it leaves a smooth shiny finish. You can just wipe off tge WD once everything is dry 😁

All the little bits are always time consuming but its really coming on, what you going to do next year when its all finished ? Mini trailer ?
That’s too true Paul. We have a few things to finish inside. And something to build for the passenger footwell - we also have something large to change out soon. As for the outside, a mini hauler sounds like a plan. We do want to build a hefty rear bumper with a tow bar. So that’ll be the first piece of the puzzle 😊
I'm probs going to wallpaper the underneath of my overheads.. Haven't found another solution 🤗

Tiles are great real tiles would have been a good few kilos so good weight save and the wall paper goes really well to ihate wallpapering too donny
