It really bothered me how much people made Diddy's whole thing about his sexuality and not his power and abuse. Like, who cares if he was "fruity"? This man abused several women and several men, with a lot of old school icons like Fat Joe and Busta Rhymes seemingly in on it but refusing to call him out. This is not about sexuality and it really speaks to a huge amount of biphobia/homophobia still present.
The whole "no Diddy" thing feels rlly forced to me for this exact reason!! People were clowning on Meek Mill for being "gay" but like that man's a victim! Puff is an abuser!!
@chazaiya even if we separate Meek from Diddy, tf is there to clown him on? Who cares if he's gay? Half these people clowning him will be closeted anyway. It bothers me how casual this dialogue is yk
Is there proof. We all interact with people daily that hide parts of who they are so that people will still be in relation with them. Spouses do it daily so that their spouse will not leave them. Until concrete evidence is provided, we can't assume everyone that knows Puff knew what he was doing and participated. Do you believe everything you hear about your friends.
I think its that we know that have a sex circle is bad but I feel as black people, we just cope with humor 🤷🏿♂️
Yep. The conversation of the masses STILL hasn't moved on from his "gay house parties" for some reason. I wouldn't mind, but nobody is adding anything new, insightful or even funny to that dead topic. They're just beating the same old path while copying and pasting Katt Williams' tired quote about saying 'no' to Puffy.
Nevermind the fact that he's literally graping people. Smh...😒
Just an FYI. An NDA never protects illegal activity. No matter what anyone says
This is something everyone should know! I tell people this all the time when discussing the current events of the day!
Yes this
Thank you for highlighting that. The NDA as it relates to (or better out, doesn’t relate to) illegal activity is purely intimidation related. You’ve gotta figure the person signing it is hearing a lot of verbal harrassment masked as “need for confidentiality as a person of a certain stature” or whatever BS, so the fact the NDA is unenforceable when it comes to illegal activity is not going to compute in the moment. At least not to someone unfamiliar with all of the above.
Anyways appreciate you dropping that important knowledge in the comment section.
This right here. NDA is for the KFC secret recipe. Not for illegal activities and abuses.
NDA’s don’t hide illegal activity for sure but you do have to have proof that what is being hid is illegal. It’s a very effective intimidation tool as it keeps you from saying anything unless you want to go to court. Which many people in these scenarios don’t have the money for. Especially because it makes losing the case that much more impactful. You lose the case to implicate someone of something illegal and if you lose you or your witnesses who signed that NDA gotta pay for breaking the NDA.

The insult might be different, but the harm they're trying to cause is still the same.
I get your point but 'gay' was so much worse 15 years ago cos 'that sucks' was interchangeable with 'that's gay'. The fact that homophobia is living on in the word zesty is bad, but at least the word zesty isn't also being used as a general negative word.

Its kinda sad how some people define themselves by what they're not instead of who they love.
Is like the whole "JoCat made liking girls look gay" thing. No he didn't, he just unapologetically declared that he liked girls, and because certain fragile men don't actually *like* girls but need to cling to a masculinity that uses girls as a prop for their ego, couldn't handle it and made it a thing.
It’s really that simple 🙄 “If you ain’t h🫥mo you ain’t gotta say no h🫥mo” ~ Jadakiss
I don't think they can...
Fr!
The cyclical perpetuation of sexual violence requires a few things: the normalization of violence and particularly of rape culture, classes of vulnerable people (children, women, trans people, disabled people, Black people etc), and an set of ideologies (rape culture and sexism combined) that allows for these vulnerable groups to be exposed to this type of violence.
Appreciate you explicitly mentioning us disabled & trans folks!! ❤
Additional appreciation for acknowledging children/minors are also vulnerable. I've seen more and more people say it online, but nothing in person unfortunately: children are humans with their own opinions and emotions, they shouldn't be created just so people can play house for two years until the living being starts talking, and people can't use smaller humans as weapons for their bigotry especially when they don't see kids as meaningful beyond that. I.e, people scared of the alphabet mafia for being supposed predators, rather than directing their attention to predators in general and not excluding straight ones or even women because "they can't hurt men". They'd win 100/100 if they went after predators instead of 10/100 by targeting whatever minority group they fear the most.
...and for those who are like, "I can feel love for queer folks and still say 'No Diddy' and/or 'no homo,'" no, you can't. Love should be mutually felt, and queer folks like myself have already made it quite clear, over and over again, that we do not feel your love when you say or laugh at that. Diddy's alleged victims are not affirmed or supported when you say or laugh at that. His sexual orientation is not more deserving of your ogling than his alleged crimes, and is a silly distraction from some horrific charges. Doesn't matter what it means to you personally; respect what it means for the people who are the most marginalized by that statement.
Stop it. People can hold two thoughts that are polar opposites from each other We are not perfect beings also. Funnily enough you can say "pause" and not be homophobic. You can occasionally make racist jokes and not be racist, you can ocassionally make sexist jokes and not be sexist.

Diddly has committed a plethora of dastardly acts, but folks wanna condemn him for his questionable sexuality? The stupidity of it all. 🤦🏾♀
So many people saying "it's not to do with no homo it means... uh... no creeps... yeah that's what it means!" Nah. We know where it comes from. Adding "no homo" to the end of a sentence is very very obviously a thing, which this is based on. Adding "no creeps" to the end of a sentence has never been a thing. This new phrase is 100% based on "no homo" even if people aren't conscious of it. I think most people aren't being intentionally homophobic, they're just not thinking about it, but we can take a moment now to reflect on it and realise it's not a good phrase to use!
Aside from that, anything that gets us talking more about grooming and abuse of kids and young people is a good thing. I hope we keep this energy moving forward and stop normalising things, and having 'open secrets' where everyone knows so-and-so is a creep but we all just look the other way.
I agree. It's still sad and horrible, but if anything there's something to be gained from horrible people being exposed for violence and bullshit. I just wish the attention would be more on a person's actions or how they weaponize their identity to get away with stuff, rather than the identity itself. Say, a woman who assaults a man but because "women aren't stronger than men", we both degrade a whole ass victim and allow said woman to continue her abuse. Or a black guy who is also an abuser, but will then try to frame anyone who wants him in jail as a racist, even if there are more people who'd want him in jail specifically because he's a black guy.
...sometimes i wish it wasn't all so complicated. I dont know why we can't just give everyone the same sentences and trials for being a pos, instead of giving a harsher or lighter sentence based on gender or race or goddamn money. Then again, we wouldn't have a executive, judicial, or legislative branch.
As someone who had to be convinced not to use this type of language when I was younger, I appreciate you pulling this argument apart for me. The kids saying “No homo” and “No Diddy” aren’t probably watching this video, but we who are watching it are now more thoughtful because of your take. I continue to navigate my own complex feelings, and as I continue to impress upon our younger generation the importance of interrogating their own hearts, we all get better for it.
unc i don't think you know how much that your uploads make me happy you're probably the only father figure this asian kid has even if in a parasocial way
He's a great parasocial uncle. Happy you found him.
As far as cycles of abuse, it's about normalization, which happens through a lot of ways. If you experience abuse but you recognize it as abuse, then it's still not normal to you. But if you don't process it, and you're in an environment where abuse is normal, it's easy to fall into that as a defense mechanism. And then like any hazing, once you're in the position of power you perpetrate the dynamic because you "paid your dues" and now you want to reap the "rewards." And if anyone complains, you dismiss it because you went through it too, so it's not shocking. This is why it's important to attack the normalization of abuse, and to talk about this with people. Sometimes that may be the opportunity for someone to process what they went through, and realize they've been hurt, and they're hurting other people.
THIS

the no Drizzy is nearly 100% at this point. largely because the predatory stuff has been on his jacket for a decade as well as the "sus" stuff.
You can clown people for being fruity because it doesn't actually matter if they're gay or not (at least it doesn't matter to me. The whole fruity thing covers sexual innuendo too and I'd argue that's where it's used more than just not wanting to be seen as gay), you can't clown people for being predators because you're not accidently a predator, you can say something that is a double entendre or is sexual innuendo without meaning to.
@@franklingoodwin yeah but that clowning for fruitiness comes inherently from wanting to stick to the idea of traditional masculinity which being gay fall out of

I work in family abuse intervention… and I LOVE your channel. These are nuanced issues that need to be discussed more frequently… physical sexual and emotional abuses in our families are THE most underreported health and safety issues in our country. People are not growing up to perpetuate these cycles just because of poor modeling- the trauma literally changes our physiology, our endocrine and nervous systems… survivors are biologically wired to act out. We are essentially converting our children into “time bombs”- and you don’t have to physically touch them to pull this off!! Toxic environments physically impact them just the same!
As an old gay (mid-30s lol) who grew up in the age of "no homo," I appreciate this video so much. The "no homo" stuff endangers kids, especially black and brown queer kids and just teaches them it's not safe to be themselves, especially around the adults who should be protecting them.
OH MY GOD... I'm 45 and mid 30s being an 'old gay' just took me out. It's okay, I refer to myself as an 'elder gay' 😂
re "elder queer" being a thing -- a group of us (I'm 45, my friend group is thereabouts too) were recently talking about how goofy it is that OLD is mid 30 - mid 40 in the queer community, and then we were like "oh, it's because we lost so many of us in the 80s and 90s to AIDS". Society has its own antibodies
Progress towards equality is always SO fragile, and the fragility is often most obvious when we feel justified in attacking someone. Gay slurs are wrong, until you think you're going after a wrong person, then the gloves come off and we throw anything at them. We have to understand that loathing someone is still not an excuse for homophobic behavior. Ethics still apply to punishments.
Yup. You may not know her, or maybe you do, but I've seen a lot of people that rightfully dont like Blaire White unjustifiably call her a man or "it". Which not only says they don't really care for whatever dumb shit she's said now, but that all they care about is getting a "free pass" to be a pos. And when you're being a pos to another pos, people are more willing to ignore it. Especially online, because if someone ever tries to clarify that the infamous person of the week isn't bad for being black or something, then a horde of people will assume you're defending them. Sometimes, more often than not, people react more to a person's identity than either the petty shit or straight up crimes they've committed, and it doesn't take much to see their statements as shallow.
Yeah, some people can be so monstrous it's almost like they put their humanity up for sale, but it really says something about someone if their first reaction is to call that person whatever slur fits. Right, because the man being gay or blaire being trans is the worst thing about them. They are incredibly unserious.

But if ur dl aren't u trying to avoid suspicion? What's wrong with calling it out?
@@jamarkellum1370 Yeah, they want to lie to women and use them as covers
@@jamarkellum1370it's not about avoiding suspicion though, sometimes it's just someone who doesn't want to admit they're gay or queer. Sometimes it's someone who's not really for it to be known, or just someone who feels that nobody needs to know anyways.
And "calling it out" is literally a few words from "outing someone". There's a lot with calling someone's queerness out, especially when that queerness is imagined and all that's ""sus"" is a guy who babytalks to his pets or has platonic lady friends. Which, yes, I've seen guys get called sus and straight up gay for.
At the very least "outing" someone just shows yourself to be an idiot, thinking that affection or happiness is gay, and at it's most extreme outing someone can lead to their death. It's happened many times before, by friends or coworkers or strangers or family. You can't knowingly and willingly put a person's life on the line and act like you didn't know nothing. It should be obvious, considering the amount of people that hide their identity and the much larger amount of people that are more than willing to murder a dude for liking guys instead of gals, and/or vice versa.

It can be offensive*. Why do you think it's always offensive? People say "pause" when they accidentally made a sexual innuendo that isn't about gay people or associated with them. Do they also say it when they say something that sounds "fruity"? yes, but that's also often sexual innuendo
I thought it's something thats used more when you need to double back on a statement that was just said like if its a hot take, or if its so wild it whiplashes you

So if Diddy did require his former co-artists to sign NDAs in exchange for compensation for their work, I don't think it was to prevent them testifying in court reguarding the recent investigations. If it was, then Diddy has some bad lawyers.

Diddy has basically been an open anime villain in the black community for years. Like, we've been hearing about his ultra horrid behavior for so long and we just kind of rolled with it. It's telling how pretty much now high profile celeb has come to his defense, like even R. Kelly had famous folks ready to ride with him but with Diddy, NAH NAH!
Hopefully some Justice will come out and he faces the consequences of his actions.
As a bisexual/queer person, I'm also confused about the bi-erasure with both Diddy and Drake. If we're going to assume someone's sexuality, can we at least do the math? Not that I want to claim either of them as bi... but the total erasure sucks.
Honestly, I think focusing on *alleged* abusers sexuality, instead of their actions, is always going to end up in people making assumptions or derogatory accusations. Someone's sexuality has absolutely zero bearing on any of this. Who cares what he gets off to sexually - the only thing that should matter are his actual actions that have affected those around him.
Look at kevin Spacey - he was accussed of being inappropriate with children, but suddenly the narrative shifted to him being gay, and suddenly the discourse was about gay men in general and whether being gay makes you a p3d0 instead of focusing on the abuse he was accused of perpetrating.
And honestly that's the price you pay for having principles lol you necessarily have to defend people you may not like overall, but you do so for the principle of it. Wrong is wrong and two of them don't make a right. Think of it this way, if oppressors can get away with oppressing the worst among us then how do you think they'll treat the rest?
Thank you @lindsaytoles2023 and to your point @kezia8027 he’s probably bi which isn’t the problem

The "no homo" phrase has always been about toxic masculinity. Anything that doesn't embody whatever the ideal man is supposed to be gets labeled as gay, even if its not inherently gay. Being asexual? Gay. Not being into physical sports? Gay. Dont like violence? Gay etc etc. So even as we shift away, very slowly, from hating gay people, men still need terms to describe being "not manly". So now we have "sus" and "zesty"
I'm really glad you're covering this, I thought "no Diddy" was weird from the start but I never see creators talk about it, your the first person I heard talk about it
As an actual old person and am endlessly amused at how old FD presents himself as. You are still young little bro, a time will come when you have a big laugh at yourself over this, trust me. No old bro.
I mean, I'm not sure why people need to gatekeep age. I've met 80 year olds who are younger than 20 year olds, and 20 year olds that are older than 80 year olds. People who constantly decry their age or how other people identify themselves seem deeply insecure about their age. How does FD identifying himself as "old" affect you to the point that you feel the need to deny him his agency in how he self identifies?
Well, anybody will seem young when you're significantly older. I thought toddlers were young when i was in fifth grade, bout 9 years old. I thought fifth graders were young when i was in eighth. I'll probably think 30 year olds are young when I'm 40. Merely a function of the passage of time
No old is hilarious 😂😂😂😂
How did you get this far without understanding that when someone like FD describes himself as old, it's because he's aiming the things he's saying at people who are significantly younger than him? I thought he made that super clear, but I guess you weren’t listening to the video because you were too hyped about your weird flex.
Pdfile diddy
Bro I really love what you do. You have me teary-eyed, hearing you take this subject so seriously. I appreciate you so much, out here doing seriously important work.
As I watch / listen to this for the first time, I just saw a video from CNN showing Diddy attacking Cassie
You given off the Uncle Iroh energy. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for this. It's so responsible and I appreciate that you are saying this so it's not just me
I really appreciate what you choose to talk about and share here and in general. Especially messages and content for young men. I wish I had someone like you to listen to when I was an adolescent and now as a father, I'm grateful folks like you exist in the world my children will one day be navigating on their own.
I got my Nebula subscription because I've gotten so much out of your content the past month or so. I just keep forgetting to watch on that platform instead of here.
I know you don't do it for the praise and I'm just a random voice that you likely won't hear, but I want to give a very genuine thank you for the things you create and share. It is a beacon of light towards a possible brighter future in what feels like very dark times.
Yo you're right but, the way you dropped that nebula sponsorship was one of the best segways I've heard in a bit.
"Segues"; the Segway is the goofy self-balancing mall cop scooter
Homosexuality is currently, imo, too intertwined with hypersexuality and sexual deviancy.
And this a result of our perception of gay men AND some gay men's *performance* of their sexuality.
I think the idea that gay men really aren't all that different from straight men is what we should be pushing.
Jeff Foxworthy did say "being gay seems just like hanging out with your buddies... until one of them says 'hey...'"
@@ArabicNameGuy and honestly, when I really think about it, "No homo" is more of a pushback against being sexually inappropriate/hypersexual than it is a pushback against being attracted to men. Homosexuality is just so closely associated with hypersexuality that it gets misconstrued.
Like, it's more wrapped up in the idea of a gay man being sexually inappropriate than it's wrapped up in the idea of a man being gay... If that makes sense
And all of this time we've been responding by saying "what's wrong with being gay?"
Instead of analyzing why homosexuality is seemingly synonymous with hypersexuality.
And we call the fear of unwanted sexual attention from men, "homophobia"... But only when straight men feel that way
This!!!!
but rereading your comment, i also think that anybody should be allowed to act or "perform" their identity however they want, of course in any way that's harmless to themself and others. It's not feminine gay men that are at fault for the stereotypes attached to them, it's the fault of whoever came up with it. Stereotypes are a double edged sword-if you act outside the stereotype people will constantly question/doubt your identity, even forcing you to conform to the bias in their head, and if you happen to act inside the stereotype people will see it as a justification for their prejudice, or a moral failing on your part. People shouldn't have to worry if their personality or behaviors fall into a stereotype, nor is it their job to make sure people don't see them within that assumption. Ultimately it's up to people to deconstruct and reanalyze their biases/preconceived notions, not blaming it on the victims of those assumptions.
@@Vesperad0 I don't disagree with you, I just think it's a subject worth analyzing.
I just think there are some behaviors that are coded as "gay behaviors" that don't really have anything to do with being attracted to men.
And like you said, gay men feel as if they need to do these behaviors in order to be visible...
But at the same time.... People can't really have negative opinions of those behaviors without it being viewed as a hatred of homosexuality itself.
I promise I have no issues with men that like men.... But at the same... I feel like I should be able to be annoyed with some sex-obsessed man, wearing lipstick, in a half shirt.
But I feel like there's plenty of LGBT people who would put the sex obsessed man on a T-shirt and say "this is who WE are!"
And it just gets hard to sort out. 🤷🏾♂️
I work in a kitchen w nun but browns and blacks and this whole damn time my coworkers have not brought up the abuse from diddy at all just the fact that he’s sus. Like dawg what are we doing 😭
It's really nice to hear someone explain this in depth. I thought about this when the Cassie lawsuit first came out, the justin bieber video in the club and jokes being made about all of it, etc.
It always bothered me how people only focused on the "gay" aspect instead of the sexual assault and physical abuse that is the main and most pressing issue.
Thank you this one. Very well spoken.
Extremely smooth nebula pivot ngl
Great vid man. I love your perspective on hip hop and all that comes with it. Especially knowing your politics. Keep em comin bro.
A perspective beautifully and perfectly expressed and explained with care.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This has annoyed me for some time now and especially now that metro boomin got us singing "I'm going in, no Diddy" but in his defense it can still be seen in a predator way
I just always took it as apologising for using sexual innuendo or say something that can be seen as sexually inappropriate.
Thank you FD. You a real one. 🙏🏼
Huh. I thought that "no Diddy" meant not being a creeper/sex pest/sexual abuser. I only knew about the women that he may or may not have abused - this is actually the first I heard of him possibly doing stuff to Usher or Biebs.
I mean, you see how using a version of a joke about being gay to represent a sexual predator is a problem, right? Especially in a climate where the gay panic is back to "they're predatory" again?
@@Jane-oz7pp Oh absolutely. I'm admitting my ignorance, basically.
Absolutely love your moral compass! May you gain many viewers. (And don't let the bustards screw you down!)
Thanks for the queer support Sig. Always means a lot, all while giving great insight too.
2:05 I keep thinking of the South Park episode where Diddy keeps threatening to murder everyone if they didn’t vote and now I’m like “oh ya that makes sense” he’s always been a horrible person 😂
“No Diddy” mean no diddler (no non-consenual contact or inappropriate graphic obscene language/behavior
Yea, and couching that in the "no homo" meme while the far right is trying to paint queer people as groomers and predators is totally innocent and will cause absolutely nobody to draw subconscious connections.
so glad to see someone addressing this with the seriousness it deserves.
Yes , it should be no Predators! Forcing people to do things without out their consent should be the big deal about Diddy and thats women, children and men!!😳 And whats more taking advantage to swindle to even murder!! This is really nad not funny at all!!
2:27 :D GET OFF MY LAWN
8:01 - This is a misconception we also need to stop perpetuating, because there are a lot of us who were abused and lived with SI for a very long time because of this misguided "cycle of abuse" narrative that got repeated so often. A lot of us would rather off ourselves rather than be abusers, and it is an unproven assumption for which research has found no causal relationship and it does not need recirculation because that also puts a lot of child SA victims in continued danger from our own misplaced fears.
The vast majority of child SA victims do not go on to abuse and the majority of SA perpetrators do not report experiencing SA as children.
It is enough to criticize SA as abhorrent. I do not need people I respect implying I'm more likely to be an abuser because past me had already been driven to attempt some extreme solutions to prevent that from happening before I learned this was erroneous.
I know it's said without malice and with good intentions, but it needs to go.
I really like “pause” cause it doesn’t put anyone down, and it’s hilarious
I don’t think he mentioned “Pause” but that one works, is like our version of “That’s what she said”.
@@devzeppilin I have also head "Yes, homo", "resume" and "No hetero"
Big facts here... telling kids to be better is weird to be in the position to that. ... feeling older.😅
right? I've been thinking on it a lot lately. Damn pandemic and maga bs aging us all by 25 years 😅
You gotta tell ‘em no!
My biggest frustration out of this is seeing POC influencers use him being black as the reason they’re going after him when the victims are mostly WOC. The same was done with R.Kelly.
This channel is a breath of fresh air
“Prison Daddy” is craaaaazy.
Thank you for this video
I'm surprised there was no reference to the word pause in the video, I understand "No Homo" makes more sense to be used in this context but I've personally heard the term pause about the same if not more so growing up.
0:51 Honestly fantastic summary of DJ Khaled. No idea how he's able to pull the names he does.
I have so many male friends who are victims of molestation as kids or teenagers, by either grown ass men or women. Only to finally break down and finally tell someone years later only when they are in the company of fellow victims of SA solely on the hopes they are praying for the hopes that they won't be laughed at or mocked. Our society is still so fucked because anyone regardless of age and gender still don't feel safe coming forward when abused.
Justin Beiber was very, very clearly waving those abuse flags left and right, but more adult women kept trying to grab at him.
Finally someone making this point. 100% being thinking this but not come across even one comment alone this line.
The "No homo" tangent was great. I've had a similar conversation about basic use of the word gay as a general negative, like "oh, that's so gay" about something that has 0 to do with queerness or campness or anything. More than probably 98% of the people I know or associate with don't use it as anything but as it's actual definition, except the odd lighthearted forgivable joke within context, but one of my oldest friends still uses it way too often and inappropriately (alongside painfully casual transphobia) and it's just embarrassing at this point, especially after it continued after coming out to him and the rest of my group as bi at fkin 34. I'm so done with the "I didn't mean it like at you or anything" arguement, it's the dumbest take. I simply don't get why anyone would think they can decide the impact of something that is used to attack a group that they're not personally a part of. I had to call out my own bro for using the fxxxxt slur, but he stopped immediately after, that shit cuts us more than so many understand. It's 90s era shit now at best and even as a millennial I feel like that kinda word use either makes you a dick, seem pretty dumb, or reflects a quite unbalanced group of friends. Context matters for sure but definitely time some people tidied their shit up a bit on this
Here we go.
You are truly a light worker. Keep up the good work.
This is almost outdated since it's started to shift to "no Drake" and "no Drizzy."
That's not better
Completely missing the point, u ever wonder how many people watch this self righteous rhetoric n don't get it?
@@johnwerner69 I didn't say it was better and I don't think it was better. It's not even different. I'm just noting how sticky this joke is and how quickly it shifts to new names.
9:37 idk unc, he had to be protected by someone/group for all this time
I just realized too, it must feel really fucked up for those sex workers to be made to perform that on underage people when it comes to lil wayne and that guy u brought up. Like what the fuck, imagine being a prostitute and your pimp sends you to a 13 year old birthday party like what the fuck do you actually do.
