@@LabTech41 This is a great idea. I'd add a pair of limb lopping shears to the kit list. Getting those longer limbs cut into smaller chunks before sending them downstream will help keep other culverts etc from clogging. Plus keeps hands out of cold water as much as possible.
What i appreciate about you doing this work, is that i have seen first-hand what happens when the crews repsonsible for maintenance dont do their jobs. In 2003 Hurricane Isabel came to Virginia, dropping something like 15 inches of water in a 25 hour period on top of Richmond VA, and theres a low place near downtown called Shockoe Bottom. It dates from the mid 1800s, and has lots of restaurants, shops and nightspots. We call it the Shockoe Bottom Bathtub, because of the terrain, and it ultimately drains(thru some culverts) into the James river. Well, when the rains came, no one realized that the culverts were clogged. They had not had maintenance in at least 10 years, and were full of debris and grown trees. Cars with drivers got picked up and floated down and the drivers drowned, because the area filled up with water so fast. The videos of it are horrifying. One lady screaming help me, help me, i cant get out! And she and the car were found two days later, but by then she was gone. Several others drowned as well, but not in the same area. Many businesses were literally under water, and took months if not years to recover. After the investigation it was revealed the culverts had blocked the drainage to the river. There were lawsuits, etc. All this to say, Post 10, you are doing very important work, and i know you know that, but i want others to know that! God bless you and keep you safe.
It's really astonishing to me how a city-council responsible for that kind of maintenance work doesn't understand the risks coming with cutting funding for that work... "Too expensive, we'll deal with it later, it won't be so bad really"... NO FORESIGHT AT ALL... One could get mad if it wasn't so sad. I seriously applaud your efforts in providing civil engineering services to the public free of charge. I might suggest that you carry 2 more tools; a machete and a shovel. The machete can be used to reduce the size of long branches as to reduce the chance of clogging what is down stream. The shovel to create channels in which when water starts to flow through the culvert it will wash away the soil, muck and other debris. Always start at the highest elevated culvert first to harness the kenetic energy before you lower the standing water (More wash down power). If you decide to launch a piece of tree down the culvert make sure to rotate the stump bottom first so the branches don't dig in. For example , people drive a Christmas tree ontop of a car with the base facing the front of the car. It's more aerodynamic: less drag. Love your work... Love your videos... I used to do the same thing as you've done 20 years in Decatur, Georgia. Totally frustrated by the streets flooding out caused by careless lawn care workers blowing leaves and grass into the streets.
You're Awesome and you have a big heart. Be safe.
The most satisfying content on RUclips.
The most satisfying moment was 18:30.
Young man you dont have to explain a dam thing to anybody. Hard as you're working if they don't like your work I'm sure you wouldn't mind if they would drag there lazy behind down to a clogged culvert and show us how it properly done!
20:40 why do i get the feeling we're gonna see that log in the next video, at the next culvert down the river?
I think it's a great thing that you do young man. I hope the people where you live appreciate all that you do!
Anyone else waiting for him to start pulling on a branch and end up removing an entire tree?
😂😂😂😂😂
“There’s a bit of an island here.”
*rakes island*
“There we go, that’s clear!”
I think he's had to move a large branch or the log of a thin tree before-
I gave a like! I see in the comments a lot of good people want to help you. Maybe set up a Amazon wish list for gift givers? Just a thought. Great video!
On his home page in the "about" section there is a Patreon and merchandise site
Glad your getting hip waders and you got your glove back! Hope you’re warmed up! Be safe out there!
I'm not, I said TALL HIP BOOTS. Waders are dangerous in moving water
Yes, I understand. Glad your getting them! I get cold just watching you in your flooded boots!
@@post.10 Glad you are getting Hip boots/waders!
Individual tall boots that go up to your hips are often referred to as hip waders by manufacturers as opposed to chest waders, which is what most people think of when referring to waders.
Either way, keep up the good work!!
@@post.10 good hint, never really thougt it out. They could rapidly catch water and drag you underwater.
It's a pity the world isn't filled with people like you. Sir
We all need to be one.
Sad how popo think they have to check out a guy with a rake.
😊🍑 It’s so satisfying to hear the rush of the water 💦 and see it finally flow through the culverts! Thank you 🙏🏼 so much for all the back breaking work you do to keep debris cleared away from so many areas😃. It is very much appreciated!😄👍🏼
weird how i sit here for 30 mins and just watch you work. its an amazingly satisfying experience.
Your videos are oddly satisfactory, keep up your great work! 👍
Well done top man top job 🇬🇧🇺🇸
British & American flags!
Get it “water logged”. If I had a business cleaning storm drains I’d hire you. I’ve watched many of your videos and I don’t know why, but I enjoy them. Keep it up man!
AllAboutAnal your name tho... rotfl!!!
I know why you like to dig around dirty holes. Also, i think he should open up a buisness and hire you.
It's good of the police keeping an eye out for what might be a dangerous situation.
We have the same and warn the local fire station that we will be having a bonfire, so they are aware.
Keep safe.
Thanks from the UK for the video
This is me every time my girl shaves her legs in bath tub
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

What da heck lmao
Best comment LOL
She the Girlla of your dreams~!!!
This culvert is kinda ridiculous. It's so massive with its five pipes, yet it clogs up with such a small amount of stuff.
yet the one off the reservoir was single and smaller yet had all the reservoir overflow.
Not cloggedah...partially cloggedah..
Sending ah...downstream ah
They’re calculated for by the surface area of the watershed and rainfall statistics. Under a big surge it would clear itself out. There’s five holes because one less wouldn’t work because they’d interfere with the road. They’re designed to pass the worst of realistic surges.
post 10: "in this situation, there goes my glove"
Great quote
harrysarso lol
I used to go beaver hunting with my dad and removing dams was hard but I loved doing it, so watching you do this brings back great memories thank you for your videos. 👍
Rake guy cleans all drains for the entire city with no compensation. In the meantime City storm worker employee finally completes level 252 on Candy Crush while sitting in his cozy office. Goals.
These videos are so satisfying to watch! Just seeing the relief of the water after his hard work is so addicting! Makes me want rain and a rake! 👍❤️🤣
You're like the Dr. Pimple Popper of the water clog world! I love it! Keep up the great work!
Poor log was just trying to watch until the end, so that he could like, comment and subscribe to the channel.😭
"Being a mother is the most difficult job on the planet"
Right. Awesome work man, I don't think most people understand how important you are. Thank you
It's so nice to see someone enjoying what they do for others, ñ being a big blessing, what a nice young man u r. Thank u so much. 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍50 out of 10.
Rake man: I have brought my rake, my gloves, my camera, and I am ready to take on these culverts
Rake man, mere minutes into the video: *chucks rake aside and goes straight at it with his hands*
In all seriousness though, I have such intense respect for you and what you do. Seeing content like this is such an inspiration, it brings back all the memories of being out in the field pulling up weeds, harvesting crops, and donating it all to local food banks. Watching these videos makes me want to be a better person who helps their communities.
Branches and logs going down river give fish sheltered spaces when things are hunting them. The fact that that is the last clog spot before it hits the river is also good as you are simply keeping it in the system and any plastics you are cleaning up as you find them.
When post 10 publishes a video, you know you're in for water sloshing goodness. 😁👍

@@abooraty Yeah! .. I put these on auto play when i have a nap sometimes! ... then I don;t nap too long as well, like when he drops his glove or get his for stuck! :) .. that'll usually awakens me :)
I'm watching it in labor. 😂😂😂
@@MrsTrafford Congratulations 👏💕💕💞🌟 🌟 🌟 Sarah! Wow you are beautiful to watch...but moreso to post at this time!!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Praying your delivery goes smoothly and swift ❤️💕❣️💕
My Tinder bio: I watch some dude unclogging drains as my freetime so that tells alot about me as a person.
Watching him clear these out is strangely satisfying!!!
I just happened upon your videos... thank you for your service to helping keep waterways moving.
Love all your videos really enjoy the variety of content.
Believe me: When that beaver comes back, it’s gonna be hella pissed xD
His mouth gonna be full of sticks with anger 😂
YESSSSS! A drain(uncloggig) water,video.So sooothing! Thank you!!!❤
Thank you for your work and filming it. I keep getting the message there is so much more to this than meets the eye. One hope I have is that you are teaching many to care for their surroundings and feel personally responsible for them.
I am too the only guy outside clearing the gutter drains during Florida rain storms. Keep up the good work. Together we are letting water flo freely!!!
22:00 Lol post 10 was raging to a log that wasn't moving😆 keep up the great work.
I've been watching your videos for the last 8 hours... i can't stop.
"Oh, this thing is heavy, water logged" This is the unexpected humor I appreciate
I don't think it was a joke....
@@bcatypical Perhaps an unintentional one. But it got a chuckle from me.
Kudos to you, young man, for caring enough to do the work you do.
