Yes it was “defeat”. Is was an objective competition and he lost (was defeated). That does not make him a personal looser as this video points out. In life, it’s not what happens, but how you handle it. He is handling it well. Wisdom is gained from mistakes, whether they are yours or someone else’s. Personal defeat only comes when you quit.

I was in competition in cocktails and was never able to be 1st place, as later was informed by a judge in private confersation that i would never win because 1st place was bought. So dont beat yourself up for this competition. We believe in you and everybody arround you. So for us you are 1st place
The reality we all agree on is that you are very very very good on what you do because you do with all your heart and soul. This is the higher possibility man. And that's it. ❤️

Having competed in judged music competitions and my two daughters on the national choir circuit I can tell you the judging organizations are dead on serious about what they do and there is NO wiggle room. Every rule must be taken at face value and followed. That the judges placed Arturo's probable score at the bottom shows they appreciated what he did but needed the lesson that every rule must be followed to a T. It's a tough lesson for sure, but know that he will learn it and he will triumph next year! Practice until you could do it with your eyes closed in your sleep and you will win! Thank you for doing this beautiful video and allowing us all to know what happened and support the crew with even more love and blessings!

All I can say is I’m so proud of him for going back and trying again. They say the third time is the charm. You’re only defeated if you give up and I know he’s not going to give up.
Arturo is an absolute legend.... these competitions don't mean anything to those of us who love and support you guys. The community online that supports you knows this and the whole online community sees you as a winner. So many fake people on youtube-Your channel and Lola's farm shines because you can't fake being genuine, you cant fake love and passion.

Arturo I can promise you I have never bought a coffee from any other coffee business that has been this passionate about coffee. Your love and passion translates into the coffee, I would much rather buy a coffee from the energy of love! Keep it going, keep spreading the love!! I feel like your passion coming in last place translates more to us than it would have if you were first place! Seeing this side of you makes me appreciate all that you do!!
Seeing how passionate Arturo is about his coffee and even how passionate you both are about the farm, being parents, and this RUclips channel is very admirable. No matter what happens, you will overcome it because at the end of the day, It's all about the lessons we learn and what we can apply from learning those life lessons.

You are all WINNERS in my opinion. You all have created a path of success and I’m super happy for all of you guys. I’ve watched you’re videos for quite some time, and with all the hard work and effort you all put into it, THE SKY IS THE LIMIT.
I’m almost 60, and I didn’t really find my path until I was about 45, but with a plan, hard work and determination I’ve gotten to where I want to be, and still pushing forward harder than ever. My sky is the limit too. Never ending.
Now back to one of the reasons I watch your videos. One word, “INSPIRATION” you all are great at proving that no matter what, if you have the desire, anything is possible.
Also, that little angel is beyond precious, she’s a lucky little girl to be surrounded by so much love. She makes me realize how much I miss my little stinker in the Philippines. Soon come I’ll see her. Can’t wait.

I watched that competition , Arturo was amazing in his delivery to the panel , you could see and feel the love that he has for the coffee , the team and all that it stands for , bringing the world together with the harmony and taste of the coffee.
I was shocked to tears when you told us what had transpired after the competition and that Arturo had placed 7th , I was stunned at the judges decision , I know in my heart that Arturo is the winner by a mile.
The coffee sales will speak for itself.
Our failures has the potential to make or break us.. choosing to stand up dust off and move forward is what builds character..its never easy. Coffee beans need to pass through the furnace to define its hidden and unique greatness. All great humans go through a refining process, not many are born great. Stay strong, keep roasting!

I think his story would make for an EXCELLENT Ted Talk, hopefully one day. I coached little league baseball for many years and I always reminded the kids we never lost a game we just did not win all of them as long as you learned something for playing you came out a winner.

So glad you realized your perfect performance. I completed for 20 years at horses shows and knew going in that the judges have personal preferences. At the end of the day how I judged myself was what really mattered. I have some grand champion trophies that I still know should have gone to someone else and some that I should have gotten but didn't get.

It’s how we deal with a defeat is the key. I’ve reacted all my life so badly to defeat (age 58 now) and have retreated from problems rather than fighting them. I’ve missed out on so much potential. All I can do now is testify how sad I am that I hadn’t pushed through defeats. I’ve taught my two daughters this and they succeeded despite of set backs. As someone who competed in competitions before (in the craft beer brewing field both nationally and internationally) I learned one important thing that stuck with me to this day:
Winning feels great, losing feels terrible but the real key to ultimate success is something you have significantly more control over: Persistence!

OMG, I cried through the whole last part of the youtube. Arturo is such a good man and person. His heart is just absolutely pure, esp in regards to coffee. I will listen again, but didn't really get the customer service thing and the 2 containers of green and roasted beans. It was so heartening to see how well you and everyone connected to Lola's Farm treated Arturo before, during and after the competition. I just feel as if something must have been misunderstood on the judges' part. I'll listen again. The important thing, imo, is that you ALL, your family of friends and extended friends are still tight as ever, and your coffee business will continue to grow in ways you may not even be able to imagine now. I hope, as Kaylee said, that Arturo does feel the love from all who look at these youtubes. HUGE huge to all of you.
