Sadie is becoming a great little helper. I renovated 2 bathrooms and place a hand held shower head on a slide bar. Great for cleaning down shower, feet and just spot washing hair. If you can you should add. Also for tub so much easier to clean

Sadie is adorable! Seeing her reminds me of a photo of myself at about her age. I had red shorts on and nothing else and was going swimming at a lake in Mississippi with my family. My grandmother had a cabin for the weekend and everyone in my family ( dads side ) went. Life was care free. Sadie has a wonderful care free life. Y’all are amazing parents. i am converting a chicken coop into a two story cabin. i am 72 and the WHOLE THING WAS BECAUSE OF YOU. no sir, not really. i have no skills but i am learning. recently just did some basic solar and created a flat bed wheel barrel with scrap wood. my budget is so far below yours that that quarter you just dropped in the mud is MINE. haaaaa....i started out as a panhandler in Boston so i have come a long way!!! my climate is northern Maine so the snow is something I have to consider. a LOT of snow. i cannot afford to plow the drive so i have to snowshoe up to the place in the winter. really LOVE doing all this though. you are inspiring!!!

I have often wondered what happened between Rodrigo and the girl from down under. Not seen her mentioned in the videos and now she has arrived to stay this will bring great fresh energy to Lola's Farm. She will see a huge difference in the build. Over the next few days, it will have a functioning bathroom. A girl has to have a bathroom. Everyone needs a significant other partner to share their life with. The good the bad and the ugly. Back in the old days, before laser, you would tack a small wood strip at the base of the wall, use a level to square off from your corner and set your first row. We didn't use silicone spacers, did it all by eye (saved time, time is money). We would set 150sf of wall tile in one day, come back the next day and grout it. The tile adhesive took a day to dry, the grout took a day to set and the shower could be used the morning of the third day.
So…I’m not a professional, but I’ve laid quite a few tile rooms. The first row is the most critical. All other rows are determined by the spacers and chalk line if you feel you need it. No laser necessary…but sure is handy to have one.

Retired tile setter here! While you've done some things different then I would not be going to criticize you! Before laser levels we had these things called levels! Lol Most of tiling professionally is about learning tricks and how to fool the eye when needed to. Some tile brands and types make that really hard! Out of size, out of square etc! At least for now what you've done looks pretty good! We'll see how it looks in grout! Even during the worst of the housing bust I stayed busy! A good tile setter that shows up and gets things done never has to worry about getting work! When you are ready to call it quits people hound you to keep going! Glad you guys got a taste of how tedious and anal a trade it can be! I enjoy your videos and watching you guys living the life!

When I saw you throw out those precious egg shells, I gasped. Those are so nutritious, just wash them, dry them out, mash them, and give them back to the chickens. They make the chickens healthier by giving them more calcium and better bone health. If you don't want to give them back to the chick's, put the ground up shells in your compost. By the way, I love your coffee, ordered Mother Harvest and 2 bags of House Blend, the Mother coffee was a little light for me so I have been mixing them. DELICIOUS! LOVE YOUR SHOWER. Re: youtube censorship: Honestly, it might have been that Kailee mentioned "Prepper video". There have been multiple prepper channels that I watch that mentioned that recently their videos haven't been pushed out by youtube and they feel that it was because the algorithm wasn't pushing the "prepper" stuff. I've noticed it myself as a viewer; the second I watch a video that isn't prepper related, that theme gets pushed out by the YT algorithm.

I'm by no means a professional tiler, but I'm like you, in that, I am also a DIYer. I've watched many videos on laying tile and have completed many tile projects. I think that one of the mistakes you are making is putting the mortar on in a horizonal fashion. You should be dragging the trowel upwards to create vertical lines, moving the mortar away from the adjacent tiles. This would make less of a mess with the mortar squeezing up between the tiles. Subsequently, you would'nt have so much clean up with the mortar. You have to keep the mortar out of those cracks so you have room for the grout. Just an observation. Love you guys. Peace and love!!

I'm not a tile layer, but have done some here and there. I have put a level on the floor and measured up to make marks. Mark a line across using a chalk line. The spacers should make sure you're staying level going upwards.
The tiles came out great but in truth, I kinda of wished you guys would have added some color tiles into the mix...some sort if design. I imagine that you can add some sort of peel and stick material if you choose to. I just think that all white is too sterile but this is by no means detracts from your painstaking accomplishment and professional quality outcome.
I am watching you lay tile because I love to watch people accomplish something that they never done before that's how we grow. Your little girl is so adorable she makes the whole video! I still work old school. I draw a few level reference lines vertically and horizontally, and then when I spread the thin set, I can see the lines through it when I use a v-notch. You’re eager to learn and learn quickly, not hard to watch at all! Be well.

I tell my grandkids kids about my mother who lived through Nazi Germany. She last saw her parents when she was 11 years old when World War II broke out.Being Polish Catholic she was not put to concentration camps like the Jewish. She survived with the grace of good people who harbored her. She never saw her parents again, and met my father an Air Force paratrooper after the war. Free speech is something we need to always standup for. Always fight for it. She told the story of when the Germans didn't like what they heard or saw they freely hung those people from telephone poles to silence them. Or executed them against a church wall. Freedom is something you fight for. Don't ever relinquish or stop feeling that people shouldn't have the right to protest. You two are incredible parents. Clean tile as you go , a wet sponge and brush out grout joints. It's the key to clean work and less prep for grouting.

You guys should really save those egg shells. If you bake them first (keeps the chickens from getting a taste for their own eggs), you can break them up an feed them back to your chickens to help give them a boost of calcium.
You can also wash and dry the egg shells and then grind them to a powder and you have calcium for your garden

I have often wondered what happened between Rodrigo and the girl from down under. Not seen her mentioned in the videos and now she has arrived to stay this will bring great fresh energy to Lola's Farm. She will see a huge difference in the build. Over the next few days, it will have a functioning bathroom. A girl has to have a bathroom. Everyone needs a significant other partner to share their life with. The good the bad and the ugly. Get the house finished Rodrigo then maybe babies hahaha. I am so looking forward to seeing Rodrigo show his family his new home and woman. They will be so proud. The shower looks great hard work but so worth it. Congratulations on a job well done.

Back in the old days, before laser, you would tack a small wood strip at the base of the wall, use a level to square off from your corner and set your first row. We didn't use silicone spacers, did it all by eye (saved time, time is money). We would set 150sf of wall tile in one day, come back the next day and grout it. The tile adhesive took a day to dry, the grout took a day to set and the shower could be used the morning of the third day.
There is a definite vicarious relaxing aspect to watching your videos. Thanks for the escape from the grind.

So…I’m not a professional, but I’ve laid quite a few tile rooms. The first row is the most critical. All other rows are determined by the spacers and chalk line if you feel you need it. No laser necessary…but sure is handy to have one.

Retired tile setter here! While you've done some things different then I would not be going to criticize you! Before laser levels we had these things called levels! Lol
Most of tiling professionally is about learning tricks and how to fool the eye when needed to. Some tile brands and types make that really hard! Out of size, out of square etc!
At least for now what you've done looks pretty good! We'll see how it looks in grout!
Even during the worst of the housing bust I stayed busy! A good tile setter that shows up and gets things done never has to worry about getting work! When you are ready to call it quits people hound you to keep going!

When I saw you throw out those precious egg shells, I gasped.
Those are so nutritious, just wash them, dry them out, mash them, and give them back to the chickens.
They make the chickens healthier by giving them more calcium and better bone health. If you don't want to give them back to the chick's, put the ground up shells in your compost.
By the way, I love your coffee, ordered Mother Harvest and 2 bags of House Blend, the Mother coffee was a little light for me so I have been mixing them. DELICIOUS!

Re: youtube censorship: Honestly, it might have been that Kailee mentioned "Prepper video". There have been multiple prepper channels that I watch that mentioned that recently their videos haven't been pushed out by youtube and they feel that it was because the algorithm wasn't pushing the "prepper" stuff. I've noticed it myself as a viewer; the second I watch a video that isn't prepper related, that theme gets pushed out by the YT algorithm.

I'm by no means a professional tiler, but I'm like you, in that, I am also a DIYer. I've watched many videos on laying tile and have completed many tile projects. I think that one of the mistakes you are making is putting the mortar on in a horizonal fashion. You should be dragging the trowel upwards to create vertical lines, moving the mortar away from the adjacent tiles. This would make less of a mess with the mortar squeezing up between the tiles. Subsequently, you would'nt have so much clean up with the mortar. You have to keep the mortar out of those cracks so you have room for the grout. Just an observation. Love you guys. Peace and love!!

I'm not a tile layer, but have done some here and there. I have put a level on the floor and measured up to make marks. Mark a line across using a chalk line. The spacers should make sure you're staying level going upwards.
Or you could use the laser level to start, since you already have one.
The tiles came out great but in truth, I kinda of wished you guys would have added some color tiles into the mix...some sort if design. I imagine that you can add some sort of peel and stick material if you choose to. I just think that all white is too sterile but this is by no means detracts from your painstaking accomplishment and professional quality outcome.
Next time you tile you’ll move all the faster. Plus you may end up going with bigger tiles saving time. 😊

I still work old school. I draw a few level reference lines vertically and horizontally, and then when I spread the thin set, I can see the lines through it when I use a v-notch. You’re eager to learn and learn quickly, not hard to watch at all! Be well.

You may never read this but I'm proud of you for standing up for free speech and the right to protest. I'm a 69-year-old grandfather now. I tell my grandkids kids about my mother who lived through Nazi Germany. She last saw her parents when she was 11 years old when World War II broke out.Being Polish Catholic she was not put to concentration camps like the Jewish. She survived with the grace of good people who harbored her. She never saw her parents again, and met my father an Air Force paratrooper after the war. Free speech is something we need to always standup for. Always fight for it. She told the story of when the Germans didn't like what they heard or saw they freely hung those people from telephone poles to silence them. Or executed them against a church wall. Freedom is something you fight for. Don't ever relinquish or stop feeling that people shouldn't have the right to protest. You two are incredible parents. Sadie will have a beautiful heart because of you both..

Remember to seal your grout. I did three times so I wouldn't have to clean as often. Saves from grout staining but it is a pain.
