This is the sprouted seedling that is now the grand old oak tree of the Grateful Dead world still that's alive and well today.

Too bad this song wasn't released. This would have fit nicely into what was being played on the radio in 1965.

My favorite era of The Warlocks/Grateful Dead : before the hard drugs and bad energy. Pigpen lives!

Classic Bob Dylan inspired garage-band stuff cut in the mid 60's pre-[psychedelic style of Syndicate of Sound, Count 5 and The Beau Brummels.

RUclips, mostly. Zane Kesey uploaded the full version of a lot of this footage, of what is believed to be the Muir Beach acid test of 1965. Some footage of the March 1966 pico acid test exists too. The acid test graduation in late 66 had some pretty good footage.

Whoa! Jerry sounds completely different here! The first harmony sung during the chorus sounds ok. The second harmony sung? Jesus! It sounds awful! Clearly, they hadn't yet learned how to do harmonies as well as will a few years after this one. Even before Workingman's Dead and American Beauty, they were singing complex, beautiful and thoughtful harmonies that they aren't ever given credit for ...like during Live Dead's St. Stephen and especially The Eleven! The Eleven (back then) has some of the most daring and gorgeous harmonies ever sung!! Dead and Co. can't come anywhere near making those parts sound decent anymore....Bob lost his voice, Phil isn't there and clearly, neither is Jerry.
