    I believe that the attraction of the sexes is a metaphor for the the attraction of spirit to matter. As an old guy, in my situation, my libido is diminishing and I’m totally fine with it. I’ve decided that if I can, I don’t really want to return here, other than if I do it as a favour. I desire absolutely nothing, other than the well being of everyone. You can’t force celibacy, it has to be acquired naturally with no resistance, and with joy. And if you don’t, all is well.

      Thank you for sharing such a deep and thoughtful reflection. It's beautiful how you've embraced the natural shift in your life with peace and acceptance. The idea of attraction as a metaphor for spirit and matter is profound, and your perspective on celibacy as something that must come naturally resonates deeply. It’s wonderful to see how you've found contentment in desiring the well-being of others. Wishing you continued peace on your journey, and as you said-whether one embraces celibacy or not, all is well.

    Hello good people, seekers of knowing better yourself and thus understand the world better. Keep in mind that we listen to this talk in 2024 with all our experiences and influences on the matter, so our interpretation of this talk is as such. His base line thinking is on point. Oppression of any kind of natural urge is considered HOLY in most religions but one can wonder "am I being real/truthful/honest resisting natural state of being?", accurately religion describes that excess indulgence of anything is a SIN, so maybe the truth is not to abstain any animalistic instinct that we ALL share but to regulate our urges. Don't waste your energy over eating/thinking/mating/talking... find your balance by giving and taking just as much is needed to be able to express and elevate the love we all carry inside. That changes over time...like a heartbeat, up and down, never loud but life essential.

    The intolerant attitude towards sex comes from how widespread and damaging sexually transmitted diseases were. Even though he sets the date rather arbitrarily at 1850, it's easy to see how advances in medicine and hygiene have led to us being able to enjoy a wider variety of sexual relationships. The insistence on chastity prior to that point can be seen as an earlier, and cruder, form of sexual hygiene - people would more commonly die of venereal disease and, as such, religions once loudly advocated for chastity.

When we open those 'windows and doors' to others, there's potential for deep connection but also vulnerability. Maybe the danger lies in losing ourselves or becoming too entwined with others' energies. Balance and boundaries are key to keeping our souls grounded while still embracing connection

    Sex is the most exquisite expression of creation but it has been denigrated by pornography. Children have been subjected to it mainly through the WWW. It’s unfortunate they have the wrong idea about just how beautiful it can be when a man and a woman want to raise a family.

      You bring up a powerful point. Sex, at its core, is such a beautiful and sacred expression of creation and connection, but it's true that modern media has distorted its meaning for many. It's heartbreaking that so many young people are exposed to a warped idea of it before they can understand the beauty of intimacy, love, and the desire to build a family. Hopefully, through deeper conversations and teachings, we can help restore the true value and meaning behind it.

      Sexual perversion has been present long before printed advertising or pornography. Most of the blame for that comes from the involvement of governance concerning private intimacy. It’s often said that the worst thing you can do, if there’s something you don’t want others to do, is insist that they cannot do it.

    I think he misses the mark here. Too simplistic. Doesn't bring up the HUGE ramifications of sexual behaviour - family genetics, responsibility for children, emotional attachment (of the lack thereof after too many sexual partners), jealousies, heirarchies, hypergamy. Of course it is easy for him as a man of some prominence to find (and bed) attractive women. Maybe he felt he had to comment on it in regards to his own life, but he really doesn't touch on how big this topic actually is. We STILL don't have a handle on it. And clearly, a lot of people have given much - if not most - of their identity to their sexuality.

    • @jamesmorell1758
      @jamesmorell1758 Месяц назад +5

      Sex isn't this big huge topic. That is simply a reflection of sexual obsession. What does genetics, "hypergamy", hierarchies, jealousy, emotional attachment have to do with sex. The way you comment I'd assume you were a red pill guy who is subtly bitter about perceived societal sexual dynamics. Nothing you said has anything to do with the simple fact that nothing you listed has to do with sex.
      Genetics . . That's a consequence out of your control and for most of history couldn't be predicted how a kid would turn out. Everyone is capable of jealousy at any moment in their life. Hierarchies are about about power and resource control. "Hypergamy" is about resources. People's obsession with sex comes from the fact that because it was a taboo subject, what you resist persists so you can't engage in a healthy way.
      The obsession comes from the fact that when someone chooses someone else over you sexually you take it personally, or you treat sex as something to give you validation. Sex doesn't make people emotional. It's feeling like sex validates you and gives you worth that does. It's the belief that if you give it up, at least as a woman, you're giving away your power. When sex is just sex. Our social norms and customs just put a bunch of b.s. and pressure on it. Whose having sex and whose not, only matter to those who wish to control and are angry they can't get who they desire.
