      Sounds like a good way to breed diseases. How about feeding the banana stem to livestock, and then putting the composted manure around the plant?

    Really good cooked green-ripe like you have them. Boil the banana in the skin till the skin splits. Cool and peel, then treat like a potato. Hash browns are great with Saba. Potato salad, etc.

    • @missbiggs9437
      @missbiggs9437 4 месяца назад

      I was going to add a comment to tell you that you can boil the green ones and treat them just as you would a potato … fantastic sub for “potato” salad. However, you should trim the top and bottom - just about a 1/4 - 1/2 inch, and score a thin strip along the side before boiling. I’ve never had this variety but it should taste ok; it’ll definitely be a winner with the Cavendish!

    I love everything you’ve done and have watched a few of your videos. In one of your videos you mentioned a hot tub space in your amazing greenhouse. You said , quote, ( if I ever take the time to relax ). At that moment I felt such a surge of sadness. You see, I recognized myself in how you are driven to make the best life possible for yourself and more importantly, your family. Unfortunately I missed the point entirely. A few years ago my ( now forty year old son ) pointed out that I was always too busy, too driven, to really spend time with them. And he was right. I hope you dont end up feeling what I felt at rhat moment.

    Do you know that you can freeze fresh bananas and the taste will be super sweet if they are well mature before you freeze it.
    The texture will be completely different of course so blend it with bakery , ice cream, porridge, smoothies…
    If you use it in smoothies you should smash them a little inside the plastic bag before you freeze them then the machine can handle it directly from the freezer and your smoothie will be deliciously cold.

    I have similar looking bananas in my yard. They were called namwah bananas, I give them to friends and to the ducks. Have had 50-60 pound bunches, in fact i have 4 bunches growing now. Believe it or not I almost never eat bananas, I just like the way they look! What a great way to bring the tropics to your own area. I have a friend in Minnesota who has a lean to greenhouse attached to his home and has all kinds of tropical plants including bananas and palm trees.

    That is an amazing result. A man called Chad Midgley (also his channel name) has several very cheap passive solar greenhouses in Utah, and he is commercially growing citrus fruits inside his greenhouses in the middle of a blizzard and 70mph wind. His greenhouses are packed and protected with a mulch made out of wood chips and green biomass, and several layers of transparent plastic, and it doesn't use any additional heat source. The micro organisms that live inside the mulch are providing all the heat. 👍
