@@guslarz So he is using how we think about deft and faker now to go back and paint a picture throughout history to retroactively make the narrative fit together better. I’m going to start with faker because he is mostly correct with faker. Faker in 2013 while already considered the GOAT because of his play during Spring and Summer OGN and Worlds win followed by a dominant OGN winter it was no where near unanimous and so there was no need for people to call anyone the next faker like we do know. The 2014 year was the year of the Samsung Orgs who won 1 OGN championship and went to both finals and dominated the 2014 worlds championship. T1 K had fallen off during 2014 because of there bot lane and bengi not being as good. Pawn was never considered the next faker because he and debuted only months after faker. People didn’t really start calling people the next faker until 2016/2017 with bdd because he was the first player to ever win to back to back lck mvp. UCAL was also another hyped up midlaner but he never took off.He got the narrative of being a faker counter because SSW dominated T1 K in the worlds last chance qualifier and solo killed him a few times which is where he got his hype from. 2015 he moved to lpl and beat faker at MSI before the lpl collapsed at worlds and T1 won it again. After that because of his injuries like Gbay said he fell off and was never the same. People didn’t try to start crowning a next faker until after fakers first world loss before then it was never a thing. With deft he was not the best adc on ozone he didn’t goto worlds in 2013. In 2014 he was considered one of the best adcs in the world but he was very flawed he was terrible in lane. But he was out shined by Imp his counterpart and Namei and UZI. Namei was the best adc coming into worlds he was the best player coming into worlds but because he was sick he didn’t play well and his career failed because of that. In 2015 deft did win spring and msi but again he was not the best adc coming into worlds 2015 that was imp who was the number one rated player coming into worlds he also had strong completion from Pray and Bang with UZI having a disastrous split in the lpl. 2016 EDG he was really good won’t lie he had a great year he was the best adc in the Lpl potentially the world but once again they collapsed at worlds. In 2017 he moves back to korea to the KT super team which while spring started off well collapsed in the summer not going to worlds he was a top 3/4 adc. 2018 they revamped the roster he wins an lck championship we all know how 2018 worlds goes. So from 2013-2018 while deft is highly regarded he isn’t the GOAT adc yet many people made argument he wasn’t top 5. This is when he really starts to slump he is a solid adc but honestly he isn’t competing for best of the best anymore from Kingzone to the drx that won worlds he was a great adc but he has a lot of competition he wasn’t like he used to be he went from middling roster to middling roster. The drx he won worlds with was a bad team they barely made it worlds and in all honesty they should have never won that worlds. Deft has been a great player on mediocre teams ever since the kt super team collapsed.
@@guslarz The star player of that KT team was Smeb, the rock of it was Score. They used to play around those two all the time. But Deft was still very important and was a huge part of why they were so good

Following KT in 2018 into that 2018 worlds was such a special experience. The Griffin storyline, the SKT storyline, the KT storyline and then all of that combined with the west finally being good along with China finally winning worlds at the end was so amazing. Worlds 2022 with DRX winning was indiviudally better, but as for a whole year narrative, 2018 was so amazing.

You didn't really mention Uzi while Deft was in the LPL. Just think about it, before Deft, Uzi was considered the best ADC in China. After Deft left, Uzi once again was considered the best in China, if not the world, but for those two years Deft was in China, NO ONE considered Uzi the best. To me, that is the biggest sign of Deft's greatness.

It's so wonderful to get to experience some of the history of League of Legends that happened before my time playing the game! Makes me feel more connected to these Legends (Faker, Deft, etc) in a way that I wasn't before. With the end of this Part 3, we finally move into MY era of playing LoL!!! I can't wait to see what's next (even if I already know the spoilers 😉). THANKS SO MUCH FOR AN EPIC DOCUMENTARY SERIES🤍❤🖤🧡
can't wait for the last two piece of this series.
This documentary series redefines lol documentaries, and what they can be

Been waiting for this for a while.
Perfect as always Gbay 😊
Bro your content is so well researched and narrativised - could you pls do a story on Uzi, the uncrowned king
bruh the first 10mins was crazy when deft took the stage to get the mvp i almost teared up the whole time during that i was fighting tears holy crap maybe im just a pssy but that was beautiful imop how much support he got i didnt expect that china is known for the fans being very cruel in almost all industries
