Know what I love about GBay’s videos? He explains everything in a manner in which a five year old who has never heard of League of Legends could still watch, without being condescending to the rest of us. It’s brilliant.
Yes, very great point lol For me, I experienced it as a refresher and nostalgia. I can't help but to feel butterflies seeing moments played out I watched live so long ago. I'm rooting like I'm watching it for the first time live again on the edge of my seat over other people playing a video game I already know the conclusion to, and yet Gbay makes it feel just as entertaining and enjoyable as seeing it through fresh eyes.
This is one of the reasons why i think winning worlds is overrated in a way. There have been great players that have never won worlds. Unfortunatly it doesnt only take emence skill, but also requires u to be on the right team at the right time. Some players get dragged along the finishline. Some deserve it more then others. Sometimes its just not ur day. Some who deserve it, not unlike deft, never make it. Yet the fans will only remember the winners. Since they are just in for the storyline and not properly analizing everyones skilllvl.
@@ChoB1den I agree mostly but fans DO remember players for their skill. Chovy and Doinb make a perfect opposite example imo. While Doinb won worlds, it seems like nobody talks too much about him or remembers him. On the other hand, Chovy has never won a worlds title but he is still very much praised for his mechanical skill.
@@Kepitano ive talked to enough people who say chovy is not as good as other mids, bcs he didnt win International events. He is consistently shting on lck mids wich is arguably more impressive though. These people are obviously completely wrong. Its seems like they take only outcomes into consideration, rather then actually analizing the player.
@@ChoB1den yeah. the majority of fans are lower rank than Emerald (and a huge chunk don't even play ranked) so it's not a surprise they don't have an accurate understanding or make an analytical argument for pro players. I'm not saying you can't have an opinion on them but surely the Diamond analysts at the desk would make a more valuable point of view.
@@ChoB1den well ultimately what happens in the LCK stays in the LCK. People don't care so much about what happens far away. The problem with Chovy isn't that he never won Worlds, it is that he consistently underperforms in international events. Most people who only watch these events naturally think he's overrated and you can't blame them.
I haven’t played league in likely 10 years after going ham most of my teens. I watched most of these games shown in the video live, and these stories give me chills. Thanks GB
Gbay and his docs and videos, truly the gift that keeps on giving. Congratulations on 500K, such a milestone to hit at the end of the year, and so well deserved 🎉 Here's to the million!
He's finally growing again! I remember for several years, Gbay was stuck at ~450k subscribers, give or take 10, 20 k. And completely deserved, these documentaries are amazing quality.
Absolutely the best documentaries and essays about League of Legends esports out there. Captures the history, the emotions, and the stories of this sport and all of the players and orgs involved in the most true and real way imaginable. I've been watching LoL esports since Worlds 2014 and I always well-up when watching your videos Gbay, because you really do tell the stories and histories in the sport in the way they deserve to be told. P.S. Deft is my personal favourite player of all time, easily best Ezreal player ever in the world by a light year, and there is not a story in LoL quite like his.
OHHH BOYYYYY! Five parts of this? I'm excited. I am going to be glued to these videos. Gbay you never fail to make an excellent documentary. I really hope you soar and make a career out of it that goes beyond RUclips. You're so talented bro.
This was kind of sad Deft seems like such a nice guy and losing to his friends both times has to be bittersweet. Happy to see tho that he won worlds in 2022. I havent watched or played league in a long time so just learning about that now.
You are truly onto something with these videos. It’s truly captivating! Please continue into other players/ regions after this one. It’s so cool to actually experience the player and not only the game.
Setting apart the video because it's wonderful. i hate that people try to throw shit on faker. He's so talented that people always forget how hardworking person faker is.
TRUUUUUUE ! faker managed to have positive kda and best farm in the game despite being counterpicked by the entire enemy team.he would have won every competition if his teammates didn't hold him back
Found this channel through his documentary on my favorite League player of all time MaRin, haven't been able to stop watching since. Can't wait for the rest of this series!!
This feels like a very Deft centric documentary so far for something that's supposed to be about a rivalry. Faker's journey has been glossed over this entire time except from the very beginning. Deft is certainly lesser known of the two and him being the main focus of this series is fine especially considering the result of 2022 Worlds, but presenting Faker as an obstacle rather than another player kinda takes away from the rivalry we're supposed to sense between these two.
Gbay, You focus a lot on the players and their emotions and I think that's a really good idea and is a good hook. You also describe the storylines of the tournaments well- keep it up
I am so glad you still upload content. I am beging to feel the effect of playing to much league for so many years but your videos always do well to invoke nostalgia and reignite my love for the game! Keep doing what you are doing man I genuinely enjoy you work and I have been subed for year! I hope you are doing well and are still able to sneak in games every now and then! :)
As someone who has never played league but enjoyed the recent storylines, these videos are incredible for someone who hasn’t played the game, thank you
Every time one of these videos comes out, I can't help but rewatch from the first part and put them together as if they were a movie. They are so good!
This is very nostalgic. I remember watching that MSI game and being shocked that they didn't ban Faker's unstoppable LB, and also happy I would get to see it in action, and then even more shocked that it wasn't unstoppable after all. Great documentary series!
faker being the only one with positive kda on his team dspite getting counterpicked by the entire enemy team really shows how much the others were holding him back
Watching Fakers Decade Legacy and Gbay docu for Faker vs Deft, two most renowned players with so much history, back to back on the same day. Really such a great way to end the year with my utmost fave players in league the goat & the alpaca.
These videos are so good! I have a friend who I watch these with who's league knowledge is literally "lol teemo" and even he is enjoying them. I don't want to wait for the rest of this series and I CANNOT wait to see how you talk about Deft's worlds win. Insane work GBay.
Always nice seeing you post. This is a great storyline you highlighted that I would have never known about . Hope you are doing well with your RuneScape grind!
I love these documentaries, you format it so well. One criticism I have for future documentaries, which isn't even anything big, is that as a narrator you end some of your sentences at a higher pitch. It makes it sound like you're asking a question whereas if you instead lower your pitch at the end of the sentence (you do this half the time) it makes you sound more authoritative and knowledgeable about the topic. I think it's some sort of public speaking psychology trick. Again, not a huge thing, just a small change that could help I think. Keep up the great content!
Literally gave me chill. Great work. Just a small note, It would be more fair to mention after MSI 2015, EDG lost Koro1 due to injury, and they had to replace him with AmazingJ from their “sister team” at the time, IMAY if I remember correctly.
Hearing MonteCristo and Doa cast together, makes me remember the time I fell in love the Korean pro-scene. Getting up way earlier than usual on weekends to watch OGN/LCK and experiencing the Eastern league scene perform, was simply amazing.
This hits my corner interest of LOL Lore so fking hard thank you for years of brilliant content, a good start into the new one! Thank you for being eith Hazmat, League Recap and a few more that covers the niches of in dept League History!
Having his friends beat him, only to see his rival also always come out on top. Deft must have been hiding so much frustration, no wonder he cried at Worlds 2022.
As a very new league fan who has no idea about the history of league's esports other than Worlds winners for each year, watching this is actually pretty nerve wracking 😅
I was just listening to the first part and was wondering why it felt like an abrupt end to the video. Didn’t know it’s a five-parter. I’m definitely rewatching the whole thing once it’s all done
This is a great video. For context (if I remember correctly) the world championship was a wild one due to the Juggernaut patch right before worlds. This patch made huge changes to Garen Darius and Mordekaiser. Along with GP and Fiora reworks a patch or two prior the meta completely shifted to a top lane meta. Teams qualified for worlds on a bot lane centric patch and then we’re expected to play around these monstrously broken top laners. That could have been an issue for Deft and EDG at that worlds.
I like the Deft angle on MSI 2015. I don't think Faker truly got counterpicked. His team completely collapsed to make the game impossible for any mid to win. He missed the distortion but it shows anyone would tilt with a 2/11 botlane
Very nice work, loving your series so far 😁 if I may interject one critique, it's that during some of your narration, you end a sentence in a rising intonation, as if you were asking a question, but it was just a statement. Definitely not horrible, but it can be distracting sometimes.

tho i play league so its only natural
What a great series! I wish Riot would acknowledge your work more!

Love this series! Although I know the outcome of the games it’s still so exciting to watch. 10/10 storytelling

7:28 "I will never let myself be that insignificant again." That hits hard.
Love this so much. Next chapter is Defts time on KT, which is when I became a KT fan.
Deft is back on KT for 2024, which makes it an amazing story too
Love your work :)
Thanks so much man :)

waited so long for this... and then 34 minutes felt as 5. I need part three xD Keep up the great work and thanks!
faker being the only one with positive kda on his team dspite getting counterpicked by the entire enemy team really shows how much the others were holding him back
take your time Gbay on editing and writing. The wait is always worth it. I hope you and your family have a wonderful, healthy and fortunate new year!

OMG IT WILL HAVE 5 PARTS ON GOD YOURE A KING FOR TELLING A SUCH LONG STORY
This is such a great series you have going man. I can't wait for more.

Amazing video
Dude. I sat down at my computer and said "gbay better have uploaded the second part to the faker vs deft doc" Thank you, Gbay
Tack!
This is the best thing Gbay has ever done
THIS IS THE BEST RUclips DOC I HAVE EVER WATCHED. Keep up the truly stellar videos. Much love.
Amazing video, cant wait to watch the next one
GOD DAMN IT GBAY WHY IS THIS NOT 5 HOURS LONG AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
If I learned anything from this video, it's that no matter how good you are at Leblanc, you will still die if you get chain CCd by 4 enemy champions
Always nice seeing you post. This is a great storyline you highlighted that I would have never known about . Hope you are doing well with your RuneScape grind!
Love your content sm
Holy I just realized this is a 5 part documentary, now I'm so hyped

Damn good storytelling.

A gbay video to end off the year I could 💦right now thank you sir
FINALY 2ND PART!!!! I was checking your channel every day since the first one I couldn't wait
Gbay, thank you so much for this documentary !! This is actually incredible
These videos are so good and it's showing off a piece of history that would likely just be lost.
Literally gave me chill. Great work. Just a small note, It would be more fair to mention after MSI 2015, EDG lost Koro1 due to injury, and they had to replace him with AmazingJ from their “sister team” at the time, IMAY if I remember correctly.
Gbay getting this one out in the last days of decent ad revenue. I respect it
Finally! I’ve been waiting impatiently for this one to drop!
Hearing MonteCristo and Doa cast together, makes me remember the time I fell in love the Korean pro-scene. Getting up way earlier than usual on weekends to watch OGN/LCK and experiencing the Eastern league scene perform, was simply amazing.
Best casters of all time
i know youre cookin up a masterpiece on faker getting that world championship 7 years after last win. insane
Gbay is cooking god damn it
Gbay brining top content in youtube
Appreciate the documentary series bud always learn something new. Commenting to help the algorithm.
You got anymore of that Deft documentary *scratches neck*
This hits my corner interest of LOL Lore so fking hard thank you for years of brilliant content, a good start into the new one! Thank you for being eith Hazmat, League Recap and a few more that covers the niches of in dept League History!
Now that league is hitting a new age with new players you can make so many great videos to tell our stories. MSI 2015 was so cool with that game 5
so excited for part 3!! this series has me in a vice grip lol, very enjoyable
The fact that we are getting 5 parts is crazyyyyy
Man, these videos are perfect.
Thank you!
Having his friends beat him, only to see his rival also always come out on top. Deft must have been hiding so much frustration, no wonder he cried at Worlds 2022.
Having a Gbay video before the year is out? Thank you for the present sir
excited for the following parts. keep it up Gbay
I did not realize this was part 2/5 till now, title as such next time please 🙏
@Gbay99 you just get better and better!
As a very new league fan who has no idea about the history of league's esports other than Worlds winners for each year, watching this is actually pretty nerve wracking 😅
im watching this rn in 2024 the friendship between rekkles and deft, now imagine them on the botlane together
I was just listening to the first part and was wondering why it felt like an abrupt end to the video. Didn’t know it’s a five-parter. I’m definitely rewatching the whole thing once it’s all done

I don’t remember these patch but EDG lost Koro1 and had to replace him with AmazingJ. So their performance was definitely down from MSI
this is best stuff ever, watching your documentaries while warming up for game !
Loved it, you're an amazing story steller. Keep the hustle.
I'm glad you included the Rekkles storyline Many people might have forgotten about their friendship
Great video ! Can’t wait to see the next one.
Would also nice to have a video about RNG Uzi, for me also an uncrowned king of the lol players.
So good Gbay, loving the series. Thanks again! :)
What a great series. Thanks Gbay
Thanks Gbay for your work and your content
Amazing video and story telling! true masterpiece!
Well done Gbay! Another banger
The Maokai ult 20% DR was actually crazy is some of those teamfights.
Oh man so good! I want more gbay!
I knew Deft's journey was rough, I witnessed it through the years, but hearing it from your point of view somehow made it more turbulent
I like the Deft angle on MSI 2015. I don't think Faker truly got counterpicked. His team completely collapsed to make the game impossible for any mid to win. He missed the distortion but it shows anyone would tilt with a 2/11 botlane
SFIV Ultra Music was something I was not expecting. I don't play league of legends, but I love this story a lot!
Top tier content Gbay
And now Rekkles gets to lift the cup too
What a video to end the year, thank you Sir Gbay
Need part 3
It was big brain move from EDG to pick champions to stop LB. I think that draft is overlooked too much bcs sometimes teams win just by better draft
Part 2 Baby!!
Very nice work, loving your series so far 😁 if I may interject one critique, it's that during some of your narration, you end a sentence in a rising intonation, as if you were asking a question, but it was just a statement. Definitely not horrible, but it can be distracting sometimes.
grats on the 500k!
i love this series 10/10
Most Goated League- No Most Goated Documentary maker ever
Now I understand why in GODS there was a scene where Deft and Meiko were obliterated by Rekkles as Kennen
