I really liked your attention to detail in this one, your city is shaping up so well ☺️ I’m actually really coming around to the idea of trees growing over time… it seems really rewarding. Maybe before you place a tree they can add a “ghost/silhouette” of how it will look when it’s fully grown (but it still plants as a sapling) so you can get an idea of how it will eventually look
i like that idea personally... you can see what the trees look like fully grown but can still have the downsides of a part of your city burning down and you losing the trees and having to replant them.
I think it’d be cool to see how pedestrian friendly you could make a low density area Edit: It may even be cool to try to convert the car centric city into a walkable one
if Colossal reads these comments, I think a good solution to the young tree placing would just be to show a preview of the trees fully grown as you place them-and maybe have them turn into saplings after a few seconds--also a line tool would be nice. Are you able to mark buildings as historic? And can you go over more of the options for district zoning?
Yes! I was hoping for mixed housings in pedestrian zones. Because I wanted to rebuild a district from my hometown which is a little district of about 0,36 km². But it contains 95% of pedestrian roads and nearly all buildings are mixed zones. This is so nice!
I love that the different creators communicate and work together to make sure there’s a nice coverage of content. Makes the community feel much more like a community.
That's the most beautiful city I've seen so far from all the creators in CS2. I guess people still have a lot of vices from CS1 and you managed to get the "new meta" perfectly. Your city looks colorful and alive while I fell like other's cities look gray and kinda distopian, concrete jungle vibes. Congrats on the creativity! This is a piece of art right here.
For your laugh, i put this video in "watch later" for 2 weeks, before i understand that preview means XD P.s. I'm not from English speaking country, and sometimes i lazy to understand all meaning of something. Sorry if you don't understand what i mean higher
You're the only CS2 player I've seen so far to actually make your own little streams!! This makes me so excited, one of my favorite things about CS1 was the water physics, so I'm sooo happy they are returning!
Awww that's really sad to hear tbh. Well, maybe not in the game part, but I'm wondering if there will be a map editor maybe that might have it? Or is it just sea level for now? Thanks@@JoyBuildsCities
I think the main thing people will need to learn as they play is to leave land open around the service buildings since most of them can be expanded. With CS1 they just plop the building, place the roads and zone around it and its done. The expansions for most of the buildings means the layout, roads, zoning, etc around them will need more careful planning.
I am so hyped to get to play myself and create cs2 content. The fact we can give our cities even more personality is great. Now I just need to get the final achievements in cs1. I am missing the achievements to have all buildings (because the eiffeltower needs 30k industry and the golf court 5000 tourist and i never really focused on them. Need like 20k more industry and 1k more tourist) and having all university buildings at the same time is time consuming and i didnt have a big city with the possibility to get all 3 5star unis up. But i am on a good way there. Thanks for the video, your detailing looks super cute here!
Love how the city is shaping up! Looks great. I love the pedestrian neighborhood, but wish the pedestrian roads could be upgraded with trees! The streets look a little barren and there's no shade!
'Football field' THANK YOU!! In all honesty though, fab video and gave me lots of ideas, thank you! Never thought about doing 'pedestrian only' sort of areas, a lot of Towns here in the UK are like that, where the high street has no roads for cars, just big open streets :)
I gotta admit I do find a lot of the "Single-Family Home" assets a little bit disappointing but that's what the workshop is for, and future CCPs. That said a lot of the bigger assets look great. I'm a gameplay first type of person anyway and in that respect it looks like a rock solid foundation with a lot more freedom in how you can choice what you want to unlock. It's also not tied to population so we can all build the cozy small towns of our dreams. Absolutely agree on the trees though, it's a cool concept but when in practice as a detailer... I just want my full grown trees.
You can shift demand from low density to higher densities or vice versa by altering the taxes for each. Im pretty sure if you go into the tax panel, you have a drop down for each type and you can lower taxes for the demand youre wanting, and even increase taxes temporarily to lower demand for zoning youre not ready to add. Nice way to have a bit more control over your zoning demands.
I am going to steal the superblock idea, looks really nice. I do like the growable trees tbh, let’s hope they give us an option. Cheap growable and pretty expensive grown trees fi.
Please do it’s a fun and easy way to start for sure. Yeah, I think there’s something to be said for watching the trees grow that’s very satisfying but I have someone who loves landscaping I would like to know what they look like ahead of time but overall I am really having fun with the game.
Nice job Joy! I am glad you showed what a low density residential zone would look like in the game. I feel like I’ve seen a lot of high density apartment buildings in CS2 videos. The neighborhood you built was super cute. I hope they bring back the ability to have certain districts in a specific architecture style. That would be nice. I’ll go vote on your poll!
I can see in the way they’ve designed the game we could easily have different styles and I’m so excited for that potential of the future but even with the two styles we have, there’s lots of cute buildings.
Loved the little mobile home park. too bad they leveled up, but on the flip side, the leveled-up buildings looked like they were the original mobile homes with extensions built on, so that was realistic too. I might add 1 small office building to the Mobile Home park to represent the administration of the park.
Oh, I love that. That’s such a great idea to make that the administration building. Yeah, that is a bummer with not being able to mark historical, but like you said, I did like the way that they looked when they leveled up as well.

100% there’s still so much I haven’t discovered yet in this game and there’s things and learning from playing it and things I’m learning from watching other people play it. @@JoyBuildsCities About the full grown trees , they should grow. I life in an apartment for almost 20 years, the trees where small, now they are so big that they block the sunlight. (real life issues). For aesthetic issues, i agree, on the other hand it would be nice to see how the tree's grow with levelling up. (Patience, how it looks at the start (trailer park) and how it looks at the final level. And i finished watching , still like it.
Enjoyed the walkable city block too. Can't wait for modders to make a variety of pedestrian roads, including thinner ones. Thinner ped roads would make a walkable super block much easier to build in a more realistic way.
Yes, I would love a small pedestrian zone road that would be super cool. We’re just at the start. I’m sure will get many cool things with future updates
How does pedestrian only zoning work? You just need to put roads for cars, but without connecting them with the main road network? In CS1, I would try to make only pedestrian-accessible zoning, but not only it required obnoxiously large amount of time to set up, it was also kind of broken. If it will work normal in CS2, I would be very happy
Your city is awesome, and also the video ,but just like biffa diana ,you have watch first where your resources are,so you plan where you industry around it, powercentrales, and garbage ,train, tram and bus depot you can buit its close to industry ,its all far from the residential zones .thats what i will do wen i can play the game, but you cityplan is awesome to see,how much love you in to it. i have you i can learn alreadry for you and other early playes ,thanks for sharing this .👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I have realized something that there is no monorails in the base game i think they were replaced by trams in cs2 maybe it will added in future expansions. and I was curious about night time do citizens go home from work Until next day because i would like stop public transport at night 😊
i hope you show more about lifepath, and hope if you zoned residental or commercial ,you made different kind of sizes. so we see all variations in sizes, should be nice.
Pedestrian Superblock is only good when you visit it, living in it would be a nightmare, with all the noise, crime and no privacy or Land for yourself. Neighborhoods built for people are always better, because people drive cars, not the other way around, and they are more comfortable and easier to live in
you have to build city base on real life, you have to do what all kind of people, young to old ,don't forget the not mobile old people;what if snow ,they taxi or transport close by. kids going to school ,how ,with car or bus or foot . people want carefree city ,but how yoou brig big shopping from big market to home, you cannot bring big shopping with bus to home or with bike, you need a car to bring shopping at home right. for lots things you still need a car, and cityplannner have deal with it.
That is no totally like that. I have never had a car, I always lived in cities and used public transport and bike. I shop small in a close by shop. I think that big shops is something more American. European cities which are more advance than Americans in terms of development, are going to a non car future. When snow here the public transport works and when is too bad and they don't work, either work the cars.

Oh my gosh! what a great intro! ❤
Aw, thanks Shake
It's very interesting to see how the roads connect in front of your elementary school in the beginning of the video ^-^
It seems like there's a lot to figure out and discover with the road tools in C:S2 and it'll be super interesting to see the community finding all these quirks and tricks and so on :)
There's probably lots of possibilities that we haven't even thought about yet.
I like that you're creating the connection to your other recent videos with the little trailer park build, i think that's a great idea 💛
And it's looking very very nice! ^-^
Obviously there's still lots of little features that would be awesome to see in the future, like being able to toggle buildings historical and so on would be pretty key ^.^
And in many of the videos today we saw that a line Tool would be really really helpful :D
One thing that i think would also be really really important is the ability to overlap trees & co - as i mentioned to you before, in reality, trees and other plants grow in clusters, often very close to eachother, sometimes in the cracks and gaps between rocks and so on, and at least from what I'm seeing so far it doesn't feel like we would actually be able to replicate that currently because of the very unforgiving tree collision - or maybe this would already feel much better if only we could place fully-grown trees :D
So definitely a bunch of things that I'm hoping will be addressed at some point in the future ^-^
As i said before, many of these (ploppable) buildings are looking really really nice, but they also have a lot of relatively empty space, I notice.
Of course that's partially because of the building upgrades system - maybe it would be cool if there was an "upgrade" for a building that just fills out the empty spaces with landscaping/detailing if you don't want to use any of the other building upgrades for whatever reason ^-^
Some lovely little details, like the bus turnaround, i love it 💛
I also really like seeing how things like the bus stops interact with the modular road system, for example how there's a dedicated space for buses to stop when the road doesn't have wide sidewalks or anything like that ^-^
And the paths around the water are very beautiful 🌊❤
These cranes on construction sites are amazing, especially the really really tall ones for skyscrapers look so funny 😹
Really like the additions to the city in this episode, very very beautiful 💛
Absolutely looking forward to seeing how it'll all turn out in the next video, potentially even with some high density buildings and all, that's gonna be exciting ^-^
Thank you so much for the video ❤
And also huge huge thanks for putting together the playlist, much much appreciated! ^-^

I'm actually surprised seeing this amount of an aliasing, and lightning is still pretty bland. I guess this will have to wait until skylines 3 ;/
It’s probably just me. I’m not good with all the settings at all. Hopefully there will be a good tutorial video on it soon.
Didnt you just plop the stone mining onto an ore deposit? I thought stone could go everywhere and ore needs the blue deposits 🤔
I thought I picked the Ore, but maybe I didn’t? Wouldn’t put it past me. 😂
i hope you show more about lifepath, and hope if you zoned residental or commercial ,you made different kind of sizes. so we see all variations in sizes, should be nice.
Didn’t really going to the life path on this one. But I think you’ll still enjoy it
Так красиво У тебя талант
Thank you. You are too kind
I feel like I should stop watching these, they make waiting sooo much harder 😅
So many fun videos out already. Loving all of them!
Ive really got to stop watching CS2 videos, my excitement is dangerous.
Same!! 😂
How to get early access to the game?
They reached out to me. It’s cool that they are extending opportunities to smaller channels. I am forever grateful.
Pedestrian Superblock is only good when you visit it, living in it would be a nightmare, with all the noise, crime and no privacy or Land for yourself. Neighborhoods built for people are always better, because people drive cars, not the other way around, and they are more comfortable and easier to live in
Another great perspective.
Does your elementary school have room to expand?
I already added all the upgrades here, but yes that is something we have to think about now, leaving room.
you have to build city base on real life, you have to do what all kind of people, young to old ,don't forget the not mobile old people;what if snow ,they taxi or transport close by. kids going to school ,how ,with car or bus or foot . people want carefree city ,but how yoou brig big shopping from big market to home, you cannot bring big shopping with bus to home or with bike, you need a car to bring shopping at home right. for lots things you still need a car, and cityplannner have deal with it.
Very true!
