The fact that you can do this from the start in the game is awesome. In CS1 you would have to build up a small support area first and unlock so much stuff before you could build a town like this with the limited money at the start.
@@drifzyy67 Which ones? I see alot of very good parts in C:S 2 and their marketing has done amazing into convincing me to get this game bcz of all the good parts.
You just earned a subscriber. I’ll say honestly, out of all of the content that I’ve seen so far, the way you planned out your farms and rural pockets of residential was absolutely superb….best I’ve seen today; and it gave me some ideas for when the game drops. Some of the farms are a little funky looking at this time but I think the way you planned it out helped it blend significantly better than what I’ve seen others do so far. Looking forward to episode 2.
One of the few if not only videos I've seen on CS:2 focused on detailing. With the new road building I think you can make something really interesting, excited to see where this goes.
I like St Luke :) Also you got a new subscriber :) Outside my town here in Norway, we also have these random farm patches with trees, but also alot of hills and rock. Is there ploppable rocks in the game? I sure hope they add gravel and stones. I also miss a bulldozer brush size option. Love your farm fields and the style your going for :)
the best one for sure... way too many square cities with hastily zoned stuff... not much thought put into them, but this one you can feel the love and can relate to a "real" area...
This is such an incredible build! I never thought wed see builds of this quality so early on. Im also kinda interested in taking on your indirect dutch city challenge using only lvl4-5 european theme rowhouses 😅
For English towns and cities, I like naming them using a bit of wordplay with English pronunciation rules. Make little names that sound plausible until you try to say them out loud, and you find yourself saying something else entirely. Examples include Strawbury, Hamcester, Moncester, Egsenham, Seaswick, Spelcaster, or Whytewich.
I live in Northern Ireland so most place names look like gibberish compared to England’s place names because they come from anglicised versions of the original Irish names, so in cities skylines I name places in Irish based on the geography and then I anglicise it. It’s so fun. For example, a town that’s beside or inside a valley. I will call it Glenn géar, meaning Steep valley in Irish, then I will anglicise it to “Glengar” to give it its English name.
Hopefully when the game releases the commercial assets won’t be the generic American style low rise wide buildings. I don’t know why they didn’t have as many options for commercial zoning levels
I think one of the biggest selling points for the game is the development tree. With more variety and specializations it could really make each city different. Like a tree that taps into the media demand allowing the city to host a movie industry, or a vineyard distributer, not to mention the various upgrades to buildings. It's got a lot more potential than CS1. You can see that from how accurately you caught midlands UK in the beta build, which you couldn't for a few years after base CS1.
You could specialize your city with or without a tech tree though. I really don't see why they included it. Seems like a gamey feature without a real world equivalent.
@@xergiok2322 I agree. One of the other CS2 videos showed the transport tech-tree, you have to unlock trains before you can unlock trams. Not realistic at all, should be able to choose from one (or both), not that much difference between tram and train. Stuff like this made me have to mod CS1, just to make a city that starts with a railway station.
I don't think I have ever seen someone make something English that actually looks so realistic to real life. Those patchwork fields, hamlets and random houses is so accurate
I find it hilarious that there is a brush to place trees but there seems to be no brush to remove them. Really excited for what you will build in this new game
I have seen more than 20 videos of ""first gameplay in CSLII"" in 3 diferent languages and your build is far THE BEST build I have seen in this game, this is perfection, +1 follower, wanna know what is this town's future
I've watched a bunch of Cities: Skylines II videos by creators and this is probably my favorite. Great work nailing the organic development of a village. Keep it up :D
One thing for me to say, all these videos of people making towns are outdone by yours, I love how you talk in the background while you do the actual city in the background instead of doing first hand commentary! Nice work.
I've never seen your channel before, never watched a single video (at least that I could remember), watched this, and then proceeded to subscribe. Reddit described it best: There are three categories of content creators who have received access to CS:2: Troll / Random Builders, Grid / Block Builders, and Silvarret. Amazing work, can't wait to see what you do further.
Since you are building on what looks like pretty flat land, i would recommend looking at cambridgeshire and surrounding counties for inspiration as they are the flattest parts of uk. Perhaps norfolk coast especially because of the sea you have. Great start though👍
Watching your video, the topographical layout really reminds me of the Ernesettle area of Plymouth, which is down by the River Tamar. The river is spanned by a road suspension bridge (and a much older rail bridge by Brunel) and Plymouth is my hometown, so if this was the area you were inspired by on Google Maps, I feel it is highly authentic. Great work!
This is the first video that I watched that actually made me want to play the game tbh. I very much value aesthetics over the gameplay sometimes so I loved what you did with the town! I was worried I liked the cartoonish graphics better of CS1 but this city definitely showed you can still make realistic aesthetically pleasing cities.
Really nice video to showcase the strengths of the new systems in cs2, I love the realistic approach to create a rural landscape with small selections of houses spread out throughout the farmland, glad that the new road system allows that relatively easy now
I tried reopening it in CS, but the save is beyond broken. Not planning on doing something similar in CS2 yet - I want to a Dutch build first and foremost!
I suggest you to create starting maps/savegames like this one, because I think it looks beautifull and makes the game more interesting and realistic. Farms, small roads instead of highways and maybe even a small town with a train station.
Super eager to see what else you get to do with the game! This "city" is already looking great... but I feel like for it to really be authentic, the name needs to be much sillier :P
I loved your Oslo build in CS1. I didn't quite get it to work with mods and such, but it was beautiful to look at. I hope you can give it another go in CS2.
The field boundaries in your town look very realistic. The English countryside is very ancient and has grown organically over the centuries but the echoes of the past can still be seen, especially in the fields and roads. This was harder to recreate in CS1 but CS2 looks amazing. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on it.
Great build, really enjoyed a fellow rural centric attitude. Could I just add one thing, as the trees have a lifespan now, the tree borders look a little odd all being the same age, maybe you could randomise the borders and then return a few 'years' later to fill in the gaps. The change in density and size would enhance your amazing layout.
This is sublime. I've never used Google Maps when playing CS1 but I'm 100% going to take inspiration from your design and use that resource once CS2 comes out 🧡
Only thing I see missing is wall to wall commercial. I was excited for mixed use buildings, they're cool and all, but they're still high rises and don't fit along a quiet high street or the main street of a small American town.
I think you may be the only creator (that I’ve seen) that’s had early access choose to build a city with European build items and roads over American. And while I tend to love those traditional American city builds, super glad to see you did this. Ty for sharing 🙌🏽
I was so confused on why people only posted 1 video so far & the fact all videos are suspiciously under 30 Minutes & don't get pass a certain milestone. I was thinking why hasn't anyone done stuff with Trains or Unlock all on, I know for me, I'm a player who enjoys having every milestone unlocked & create my densest point of downtown first, then highways/interchanges then work my way into lower density. / Filling in Gaps with Industrial areas. I find detailing the most fun, so kinda disappointed at the lack of props at this current point in the game. I'm sure in time this game will be superior to CS 1 but in time.
Great first CS2 city! Maybe not the buildings, but I see a lot of Dutch small but growing village in here too for sure! The lay-out including tree lines is very similar to villages in Noord-Brabant for example.
This is something I've attempted to start in CS1 so many times, but I become overwhelmed. I've tried keeping notebooks of my ideas, I've tried making it on PS5 first to get my mojo back. When it comes to it, I think doing it on PC with assets is just too much for me. I really want to persevere with it once CS2 launches.
The rural area looks about right, and hedgerows and mature trees are needed! Drainage ditches, coppices, ponds, woods, hills, rivers, canals... your English town is a little too grid based, most towns started around a market square, or a crossroad, or a river crossing, and are very very tightly packed in old town centres, with 20th century estates being more spacious-ish? A good example of a small historic town to learn from would be Buckingham.
They need to add the option to make the roads "not zonable" so that the Streets/Roads in the countryside are just that. + I don't like the animation of tiny houses being built with a GIANT crane + We need a color override or LUT. These Houses all seem so gray. CS1 was a lot more colorful in its core.
It's super annoying to me that all properties are still basically.... squares/rectangles. They can't have odd geometric shaped properties still. When you curve the road, you lose developable property. Feels very Simcity 4 ish.
This looks amazing for what we get in a base game. Can't wait to make a European alpine city in a similar way once it is released. Current house models look a bit repetitive. I think it should be possible to force sims to build more houses of different sizes by zoning in a more granular patchy fashion instead of filling the whole block at once. Plus mix EU and US low-rise zoning.
Es built on new game engine? Et seems antiquated like Cities: One with mods? I am not blown away by the assets. This doesn't seem like it would be great at 8k or 16k. If Cities hasn't developed their own game engine by now, IDK what they did with the 500 mil in profits from selling the first game.
Small fields, lots of hedges, never been to Lincolnshire then, and the way you tried to describe England. Lol. Yeah ok, and never changed to left hand drive. Oh dear serious fail! Which means you know nothing of Great Britain 😂
Wow, that looks amazing! I've always wanted to try something like this myself, but I have a very hard time designing something like this. Very impressed with your skill. Lekker bezig kerel!
Maybe in the future you could add some "modern developments" in the suburbs which aren't typically terraced/row houses in the UK, but sort of housing estates with cul-de-sacs
Just beautiful👌 wish we will get better tools for placing trees, random rotation or even rows like with roads. I will play on console again, so I’ll stay away from any mod😅 So far the best city in CS2 i have seen so far👌👌
