Well, Apple isn't stupid enough to reduce battery life for a .5 mm thinner device, they'd really only do it if it actually made a difference big enough for people to care.
I feel like Asphalt 8 was lagging during this comparison. Probably because there are other apps open. Still, this isn't worth an upgrade from the iPad Mini 3, or maybe the Mini 2. If you guys are looking for a cheap iPad that can run anything and can play games at high graphical settings, then get the iPad Mini 2.
The mini 2 handles it very well, but man, that laminated screen is the main reason why i would upgrade from the mini 2, i'm tired of having to cranck up the brightness when i play at work.

For what it's worth I don't think the technical battery capacity change matters if in real world use it lasts just as long as before. Of course it's a smaller battery to help get it thinner and apparently iOS9 is designed to be a bit more efficient. I had the 1st gen iPad mini, and an iPad 3 before that, and the battery life was solid as a rock. In use and also days and days of standby with barely losing any battery life at all. Sold my iPad mini and went to a Nexus 7 which had terrible standby and in use probably died 2 hours or so before the iPad would have. Cannot wait to get my iPad mini 4 that I ordered yesterday. The battery capacity worries me but I trust that in use it will last just the same as any other iPad does, and as Apple have promised (and it's the one thing I trust Apple on with iPads is their battery claims. If it really does die an hour sooner I'll be pretty miffed.
i have a iPad mini 1st gen and its still awesome for playing games and other stuff like that but newer games do tend to lag a little and the screen does suck but over all for being that old it still hold up well

What Apple can do to improve the iPad Mini 4: 1. Make the top and bottom bezels smaller or put one speaker in each bezel for stereo sound. 2. Add an LED flash 3. A9 chip 4. 5MP front camera 5. 3D touch
+Anthony D. I disagree with the camera improvement, why would you want to take pictures with an ipad? It's a pretty big device even if it's a mini. Taking pictures is more of a feature designed for phones since phones are designed for multipurpose roles. I kind of agree with LED flash, could definatly use a flash light feature for it, if you like sitting at home in the dark playing games or browsing it would be useful. However A9 is a must for tablet designed for apps and games that support multi app display.
+Anthony D. Nobody has the bandwidth to stream/facetime in 4K. It isn't even possible to stream with that bandwidth over wifi, you need a cabled connection for that. I do agree, I could be better than 1.2 MP but 4K is just to much.

+Truman Capote touch id from mini 3, is huge usability improvement over mini 2. I loved mini 3, now i have mini 4 and its like magic piece of glass. Go ahead and sell mini 3.
All those new ipads:D i stuck up on ipad 1 , yes it is almost 6 years old but still works just fine and it is durable as shit ,ive got the apple case on it and i drop it and punch it like thousand times and still just fine, and its on ios 5, that means its still faster than newer software in some ways. I dont want to upgrade, until it just give up and wont work any more. :D

Hmmm, in the event Schiller said they made iPad Mini 4 by making the Air 2 a smaller size and same specs. But no, they still are using A8 on iPhone 6 with 2 cores, not A8X with 3 cores so the performance is not as good as the Air 2, quite a bit disappointment.

Last year i bought an ipad mini 2... In 1 year they release 2 new models. God damn it.
And to me the biggest difference is the Mini 4 can run Group FaceTime but if you try to run Group FaceTime on the Mini 3 you will only get voices.
