Been fortunate enough to have this in my 7 iron, an mb101. Have been very pleased with the consistent play of that iron. At 125x I feel unfettered when I want to hit with a firm strike. Am pleasantly surprised. I was expecting a perhaps more boardy feel in 125x's. Instead I feel smoothness from the Velocore et al.
Will be adding this to my other clubs. Time and money permitting.
It's been a pleasure to hit. I have not been disappointed.
I do confirm the spread is consistent to where you aim it.
I currently have X100's in my 5 and 6 iron(mc501's) and also Lz 6.5's in the 8 and 9 irons(241's). This has been very satisfactory setup.
I look forward to replacing them all with Axiom 125x's.

Excellent review and demo. Couple of comments.
First, these shafts are not cheap, I see a price of $105 US which is anywhere from two to three times as expensive as most steel and graphite shafts (except of course for Graphite Design iron shafts!). So cost is an issue, but perhaps there are viable alternatives. I will be 82 this month, so am in the process of having my forged blades reshafted, changing the present 120 gram stiff flex Rifle Lite Precision ones for Nippon NS Pro Zelos 8 stiff flex shafts that weigh 87.5 grams. Nippon says the Zelos very light weight shafts were designed with new NZNS60 material specifically for players who use or might consider using graphite but would prefer steel, and has the exact swing characteristics of a graphite shaft. Thus while the Zelos 8 shafts I have purchased are stiff flex, with 2.2 torque, I found them to be a bit more flexible than a UST Mamiya Recoil Dart 65 regular flex (F3) graphite shaft weighing 64 grams that has 5.2 torque. My pro, who has been suggesting graphite given my age but knows I have been obsessively researching shafts and trying out different ones, agreed with me at a lesson this week on the characteristics of the Zelos, and concluded that it really came down to a toss up. I have a lot of respect for Nippon's deep expertise in spring steel and the quality of its shafts. The Dart shafts, BTW, cost $60 each. So Zelos 8 it is. I just wish that more shaft reviews would take a look at the Zelos shafts for slow to middle swing speed players.
Second, I am looking at a chart for the Axiom shafts that seems so complex that anyone interested in these shafts absolutely must go to a skilled fitter like Simon. The Axiom 75, for example, has three different flexes, R2, R and S. But each of these three is divided into LP - long parallel, 2 iron, MP - mid parallel, 5 iron, and SP - short parallel, 8 iron. The weight shown is the same for each of the three. But the torque varies for each section, from higher in LP to lower in SP.

What is your thought between Axiom and Recoil? The Recoil being tapered.
Not sure how parallel shafts work
The Axiom have a 3 stage system so there is some progression through the set versus a standard parallel shaft. The Tapered shafts have a weight progression built into them like Tapered steel shafts so there is a constant weight through the set rather than descending weight where short irons are lighter as in standard parallel sets.
The Axiom do swing much more tip heavy than the Recoils and are a stiffer profile so will feel much firmer too

Excellent video, thank you. I'm undecided in between the 75 and 105 for my three wedges. I currently have sporadic elbow issues so use UST Smacwrap which weigh 78 grams stiff for the additional dampening and they are a quality shaft... just fancy these in my wedges for the very latest technology. In your opinion after hitting them which would you edge me towards? I've even considered putting the UST in my wedges. The wedges currently have KBS Hi Rev 115 shaft in.
The closest axiom in weight for your current shafts would be the 105g ones but they will swing noticeably more tip heavy than the UST shafts
@@Precision_Golf thank you for responding to my query. After discussing with my pro yesterday we went with the 105 option and will discuss tipping when they are ready for fitting. I prefer the 54 and 59 degree wedges to play a little softer.
I currently play DG S300. Wondering how these shafts would feel and perform in comparison? I like something close to D2 swing weight. Thank you.
The Axiom 125 is a similar weight but a much tighter feel - the DG S300 is not an overly stiff profile with some kick through the mid section but the Axiom 125 is a little “tighter” feeling throughout. The Axioms are not a low launching shaft but don’t pop spin up so potentially a slightly higher flight than the DG
All of you players wanting comparisons between shafts should understand everyone swings differently. You simply cannot accept one set of data as the end all/be all for you. One company's S flex might be another's R flex. You're going to need a patient fitter to figure out what works best for you, and hitting a dozen balls off a mat is not going to cut it. There could be as much as 50/60 gram weight difference between the steel you're using and the graphite that works best in your case. You want low launch/low spin ? Look at what's available. High launch/high spin ? Check those out. Are you an arm swinger, or do you actually have a good hip rotation that requires less effort for more power. The average amateur does not swing over 115 mph, and those that do are all over the map in swing path and ball striking. You want something that you can control, and a slower swing does that, just like your warm up wedges at the range. Graphite today is way different and there are TONS of options that you alone have to experiment with, not rely on someone else's results in a video. Make golf fun, don't make it hard. If you want to see videos on Fujikura graphite shafts that don't sound like a boring engineering class, look at those done by Scott, a Fujikura employed shaft specialist. A much more understandable breakdown of what these shafts can do across the lineup.
This video is purely done as a reference and for information. We fit through testing different options across steel, composites and all graphite and looking at someone’s swing characteristics, tempo, technique and ball flight requirements - exactly as you detail above.
I hear you sir. Many people commenting on here seem to think the info presented is absolute and specifies exactly what shaft to get. Tour pros are constantly being evaluated, or fitted, on a daily/weekly basis. Your average amateur has no clue the amount of time it takes to figure out what works best in their situation. I personally came to the realization as a senior golfer that steel shafts are just too heavy for me to properly control, and that's across the bag. Today's graphite shafts are very versatile and depending on your swing ( most amateurs are pure arm swingers, not body) you can find a graphite shaft that will significantly improve your ball flight/accuracy.@@Precision_Golf
It’s true, many people are looking for a magic bullet but the only way is to put a bit of effort in and test them with a fitter who knows what they are doing and can guide them down the right path!
I have Recoil 95 F4 in a set a of ZX5s and swing driver about between 100 and 105 mph. Would your recommend trying the 75S or 105S in the Axiom??
It’s not a swing speed question I am afraid as it really depends how you move and how you swing determines which weight is the more suitable to test. The more likely is the 105g but they will swing noticeably heavier than your recoils
With the shaft shaving distinct groupings and weights, how would one have a 105 shaft in a regular flex? Soft stepping one group to another?
There is not currently a Regular flex in the Axiom 105 sadly
With these being parallel. Can you tip the 105 stiff to play more like a regular ? I play upto a 4 iron so wondered if a set could be built like this ?
Any Velocore shaft dies not need more than standard tipping as it removes the stable material. With no weight progression you are better going up a fire if you want a more stable feel
So having a Long Parallel shaft on my 6i would result in higher ball flight and more spin? Is this correct?
Technically yes although higher spin is the most likely affect. Launch will not be that different solely through the tip being softer
To install these shafts to my irons - I have to cut the BUTT END of the shaft correct? The velo core tech is on the tip where the head will be installed?
In each of the three sections there is minimal tipping but the three profiles mean it is kept to as little as possible meaning the Velocore material can be utilised properly.
Looking for graphite shaft due to joint problems, do you have la golf l series shafts in the matrix. Interesting in the comparison. Struggle timing anything under 120

How does the 105 compare to Modus 105?
Very different in how they swing but the principle of stable too design very similar. The Modus swing heavier due to the more tip balanced steel profile as the reinforced top section swings heavier so created more of a drop down in transition whereas the mid balance of the Axiom being all graphite will come through a little more easily and does not require quite as much of a pull on the handle in transition to get it moving back down towards the ball. Both have a stable feel but the Modus might have just a fraction more load and feel marginally more responsive under the handle
Would be interesting to understand how the 105 compares to a Modus 105-S in terms of stability and feel.
The Axiom is tighter feeling as the graphite has so much more material and the Modus has a little more response under the handle. The multi-material construction on the Axoim does make the balance a little more tip distinct whereas the steel Modus has a more general lower half balance.

with 105 S on irons, what would you use on wedges (LW/SW)?
Interesting one - some players will suit matching the Axiom but others are better with a heavier weight at more like 115g. This can be steel it graphite depending on the players action so something like the Modus 115 wedge in steel should complement it well
What about using Axiom 125 tipped like an 8 iron?
@@rubensnaves you could do (8i would be untipped for the short iron shaft they do) but is quite an increase in weight so may be a little heavy
I’d be disappointed in the uniformity of the tip section at that price and quality. The hole looks offset to me in the 125 model
The wall diameters are more even than they look - the tip preparation and filing can make them appear a little less uniform but there are some shafts that do vary more than you would prefer but not often
At your 90ish mph 6i would you stick with the 105 stiff, or have you tested it against the 105x? Thx
Technically it would lower spin slightly and would feel a bit firmer but outside of that it will not alter ball flight dynamics. That difference is as much a players personal preference on feel or even just the concept of whether they prefer a particular flex giving them more trust in the shaft than any major tangible performance difference. The weights stay identical across the flexes.
