I have a steep hillside not far off the grade of the hill shown in the first minute of the video, the 3/16 crushes it with that slope. It out performs the 5/16 by about two to one for us. Also is pulling sap on those iffy days where 5/16 won’t run at all.
Hey Chris, I have similar slope to what the video showed also. How far do you think it's possible for 3/16 tubing to carry sap to a collection tank? I measured the distance I'll be from my farthest tree and it's 230 yards.. is it crazy to expect 3/16 to carry sap that far? Thank you!
I did this and I found that 3/16 is too small of a diameter for < 2% drop. Must use 3/8 or untap the highest letting air in or putting in a release loop for so air can pull/suck sap down. If you have better drop it might not be necessary.
