    Maybe also consider a shutoff valve installed above the check valve. That way for you or the next person needing to replace the check valve, they have a way to keep everything from falling back on them.

      @@DoityourselfwithjoeExactly. People don't realize that when you're paying someone to come do work at your house you're also paying for their gas to drive there, having to run to home depot to get supplies, the insurance that theyre supposed to carry, as well as years of experience and the fact that if something does go wrong a reputable contractor will typically fix it at little to no charge. People complain that it costs too much for someone to come do an "easy" repair but yet they're not willing to or don't have the knowledge to do it themselves and think it should be dirt cheap to hire someone to do the work 100% correctly and are quick to complain when something goes wrong

I was Trying to figure out where it was coming from, then i opened the door to the crawl space. I knew what it was right away. What a mess!

    My check valve sounds like a machine gun at the end of the pump cycle. It says silent on it. I've had it since before the sump pump I've had for six years. Time to change it.

    We just replaced our valve to sump pump. There is now an extremely quiet light thump. It's okay with us - is that a good sign? Feeling a little proud today - but let us know if there should be no effect. Thanks SO much.

      Should be fine. That is probably the water in the line that falls back and closes the check valve.

    Do you need me unplug the sum pump before installing?

      If you like surprises, I recommend you keep the sump pump plugged in.

    I have a flapper style check valve just upstream of my septic effluent tank pump. I was told to remove the check valve because in winter the effluent in the pipe upstream of the check valve can freeze. The volume in this piping is not enough to cycle the pump after the effluent drains back into the tank. Anyone have opinions on this?

    How much should i pay a plumber for replacing check valve

  • @Sjrick
    @Sjrick 3 года назад

    i have a check valve that is on my utility pump under my sink. My issue is that every minute it keeps running and stopping. Even if there is nothing on, the sink or the washer. it just keeps cycling. Im guessing the check valve is bad. Am i right ?

    • @Doityourselfwithjoe
      @Doityourselfwithjoe  3 года назад

      Yes it is letting the water back into the pump or if there is a float on the pump it may need an adjustment or could be stuck or bad. I would check that first. Another thing it could be is something is stuck in the check valve and it is stuck open

    There’s no such thing as a 1 1/2” check valve. It’s called a 1 1/4”-1 1/2” valve and is supplied with reducer couplers on the check valve from the manufacturer. Next size up is 2”. Correct me if I’m wrong.
