I just recently ordered one of these for a completely different use. I’m building an autonomous cooling system in my utility truck…..a thermostat will turn on a 12 volt marine blower fan to quickly suck out cabin heat over 80 degrees, and push it out 2” pvc to a vent on the side of the cab. I’m going to install this check valve, door hanging down, to keep cold air and insects from coming in the vent 😁👍🏻 Thanks for posting this video, giving us an idea of the unit’s size, I’m installing everything along the floor behind the seat, with a tube running up the passenger corner, and across the top of the roof, just behind and above the head rest, with a perforated pvc tube
@@matthewhendershot2009 I got it installed, but had to break off the spring, air pressure is nowhere as strong as water pressure……so it works well. Have not wired it up to my thermostat yet,but a dry run seemed to work fine
Order of installation, bottom to top: Pump, Check Valve, Shutoff Ball Valve. The Shutoff Ball Valve allows you to replace the pump or check valve in the future without water flowing from the pipe. This Union Connection is very helpful.
I installed this valve combination yesterday, in the vertical position with the ball valve up. It's interesting watching the water flow through the clear walls of the check valve.
It didn’t look like the quiet check valve was closing all the way. I am guessing the check valve below is causing the water flow to slow and stop before the quiet valve can fully close. I would have removed the lower check valve. Also the primer actually softens the PVC pipe so that the cement creates a solvent weld.
I think I agree with you. I just had a repair guy out because the sump pump was seized and we were watching flow and previously, I thought the lower check valve was malfunctioning but now maybe not so much. Thanks for the comment!
Hi Matthew, I am planning to install this quiet check valve tomorrow. I have a check valve just like you and I noticed you didn't remove it. Does it matter if you have the check valve in place?
I really thought your video was great Matthew. I've been trying to figure out if having two check valves in a row will lead to a problem. I see in some of the comments that others are wondering this too. I haven't found any professional answer yet. From what I have gathered, something about more load for the sump pump to push water through (which I don't really think would add much more significant load but what do I know :) I know you said you are not a professional plumber but wondering if you plan to leave the old one in still.
I haven't ran into any problems with it. It's still going strong to this day. Still silent and still no loud banging after the pump runs! Thanks for the comment.
Has anyone had the issue where their check valve clunks when it water runs through and when it closes? So two clunks? We are getting a quiet check valve installed and hoping it stops this double clunk issue 😕
thank you very much, whats the best way to measure the length of the Silent Check Valve, in order to make the right cuts on the pvc? do you cut it shorter?
Look on the bright side.......at least you weren't doing a sewage pump check valve when you figured out the pipe still held liquid!😬. I just received my valve today and am REALLY hoping the banging will soon come to an end.
Why did you leave the original ball check valve in place. I just replaced mine with this quiet one. I didn't see a benefit to using one on top of the other. Just curious what your thought were?
To be honest, I didn't feel like doing the extra work. I didn't think that it would effect anything too much to leave it installed. I probably should have taken the extra time to remove it from the system.
Since the opening in any check valve is narrower than the pipe, the pump is going to have to work harder to push water through. Two valves means double the work.
I want to install my quiet valve . My PC pipe is from floor to ceiling . Any different or more effective , when i install my valve upper or lower position ? Thank you Matthew .
Disclaimer: I am not a licensed plumber by any means. The only advice I can give on the matter is that if you put the check valve higher, there will be less water in the lower column if that makes sense.
That was a ball check valve so I don't think it makes a difference as they are both check valves. Of course I could be wrong but that's how I see it. Good question as I didn't really think about that.
If the ball valve was above the check valve, and the ball valve was closed, when you first cut into the pvc pipe, the water would have been trapped above the ball valve, I think.
I don't blame you. I never claimed to be a plumber. I didn't realize there was a ball check valve already in line holding water. I was just as surprised.

Thank you very much now we all can sleep better good job!!!
Tim - You're welcome! Now that I have it installed, I can't imagine how we lived with the slamming before. Glad I could help.
Good explanations on how to install.
Glad it was helpful!
What a genius...Follow this guy right off the edge of the cliff.
Lowkey flexing those guns bro.
Good vid thanks
Thanks for noticing!

I agree, it's somewhat meditational haha

You mentioned you have a ball check valve. Did you simply leave that installed after you installed the quiet check valve?
Did you have to take off the old check valve?
No I left it. Looking back, I probably should have taken it out but I didn't.
@@matthewhendershot2009 you def are stressing your pump a lot more by leaving that old check valve in
I see you posted this back on 2018. Is it still working as expected?
Yes believe it or not, it is still going strong! knock on wood. Thanks for asking.

thank you very much, whats the best way to measure the length of the Silent Check Valve, in order to make the right cuts on the pvc? do you cut it shorter?
Great question, I used a tape measure and yes, i cut the original pipe shorter for this check valve to fit in the system.

the banging will stop and it will feel like a miracle. by the way, it was on a sewage line! luckily only showers had been had for a while...
So is this still working well without taking out the ball valve? thanks.
Yes. Still working perfect to this day.

What Brand and model check valve did you use?
Campbell Mfg Llc 2" Quietsewage Chk Valve B-0823-20C Well Supply Accessories

How NOT to install a check valve.
As soon as he cut the pipe and he realised the pipe was full of water, I was done.
