Even other Raiders fans still don't quite grasp what we had. He easily could've won MVP in 2000 as well, numbers be damned. Ran for like 600 yards, always seemed to make the right decision. That team absolutely doesn't go 12-4 without him.
Also take away the bad luck or NFL against the Raiders with the tick rule game, Siragusa falling on Gannon and Callahan throwing the SB he would have played in a couple more Superbowls and would have had a bower chance at winning the one he was in.
@@ChiefBlue4298 Gannon actually should've won it in 2000. The Raiders were an average team without him. The Rams were still an explosive offense without Faulk.
While I was a fan of Brooks, I always thought Jeff Blake got a raw deal. Wasting away in Cincy for years, brings the Saints to their first solid season since the Mora years, and never gets his job back.
NFL throwback release a video of the Oakland Raiders versus the New Orleans saints in 2000 and the Raiders are going to play against the saints tonight on Monday night football that's crazy also I love your videos NFL throwback.
Aaron Brooks, unfortunately one of the best QBs the Saints have ever had. Well at least he beat the Greatest Show on Turf in the playoffs that year. Just 6 years later he became the starter for my Raiders and he played terribly.
and now, 20 years later, Gruden gets his 2nd win as a Raiders Head Coach against the Saints on Monday Night Football This time, the Raiders are now in Las Vegas
I thought the Haslett-era Saints were going to be a force for the next few years. However, the coming out party in 2000 was the best it was going to get. The defense got worse over the next few years, and Aaron Brooks just never turned the corner. As for the Raiders, I'm still surprised the Ravens went into Oakland that year and just completely put the hammer on them. That was the only team all year long where they faced a quality air attack with a high profile QB. Didn't matter for Baltimore since they just waltzed pasted them to the Super Bowl.
Well remember Baltimore caught a little break because Gannon got hurt. Don’t get me wrong they had a great defense and even Gannon was struggling before he got hurt so it doesn’t mean the Raiders would’ve automatically won if he didn’t get hurt. However, despite him getting hurt in the first half and the fact that they had a crappy backup, Bobby Hoying, they only lost 16-3.
Saints fan here, I remember watching this game on the day of. I am not an Aaron Brooks fan but given the situation with Blake going down, Brooks did about as well as a backup should do. I’m still a member of The Who Dat Nation now and always. ⚜️
Kind of a fun fact, well, maybe not for Raiders fans. That TD to Tim Brown is the same sluggo seam play that Jon Gruden and John Lynch mention during the 2002 Buccaneers America's game episode. It's a play that Gruden emphasized during practice where he famously played Rich Gannon himself to get his defense ready for the Raiders offense. You can hear Lynch actually call it pre snap during the super bowl, leading to a Dexter Jackson interception
Two things that Raiders fans tend to forget about when comparing Gannon/Gruden Raiders to the current Raiders. Yes Gannon was a great QB for this team, but they also had a very balanced offense as they were top 10 rushing every year, I think 2 or 3 of the years they were top 5. Also while the defense wasn't "amazing" they did force a ton of turnovers, something that the current Raiders have a problem with doing!
Love how we just beat the Saints Monday night football In the Death star, but the golden days i was 17 years old going crazy watching my Raiders,i had a job just so i can buy Raiders jerseys i had the jordan Gannon Rice Tim and Porter lol,my JCpenney check was for Raiders jerseys i lived in New Jersey was the lonely Raider surrounded by Giants Jets scary days lol
That would have been such an epic recovery in that onside kick. Saints fans deserved a winner in 2000, and finally got one a few years later. Following KC for 26 years, seeing the Raiders win always sucks Great game here and last night as well, fandom aside. NFL throwback coming through again.
I wish Gruden got to take the Raiders to the Super Bowl. Here's hoping he can do it this time around and be the first to win a championship on two different teams
This was just before the raiders got jerry rice and went on their early 2000s run , before this gannon was known for getting thrown in the game during the 95 divisional round to replace steve bono for those who remember him lol
The run started here in 2000 and this was actually the best team of the bunch. Raiders record 479 points scored, dominated every opponent at home after losing to Denver in Week 3. Only issue was running in to the best defense of all time in the 2000 Ravens in the AFC Championship Game.
