Jerry Rice..at 40: 7 for 126. A 40 year old WR puttin' up numbers. The GOAT.
Like Tom brady in 2021
I love it when you guys show highlights from other games during the game. It makes me feel like I’m back in 03
Glad you appreciate it!
@@NFLVault war eagle and thanks !
@@NFLVault I love this video, it's so epic & raw
@@NFLVault keep up the content from this era and the 90s and the true throwback games I love your channel
This channel is the best idea the NFL has had in a long time. I just wish there was a way fans could purchase any game throughout NFL history. There are a lot of games you can't find footage of.
Barley see 1997 nfc championship game
7 future or current hall of famers in this game (Rice, Tim Brown, Charles Woodson, Rod Woodson, Drew Brees, LT, Antonio Gates.)
Phillip Riles There can only be one LT
Several other players on both these teams ended up going to multiple Pro Bowls, possibly might end up being future Hall of Famers themselves: Charlie Garner, Sebastian Janikowski, Shane Lechler, Lorenzo Neal, Donnie Edwards, Philip Buchanon, all of these players were voted to at least one Pro Bowl throughout their respective careers, two more of them (Janikowski and Lechler) have been consistently voted by writers, fans, and fellow players as being some of the very best at their positions, and along with Adam Veniteri of NE/Indianapolis, could end up being eventually inducted into the Hall of Fame. Lorenzo Neal won't end up being enshrined in Canton, but during his long, very successful career from 1993-2007, he was voted to multiple Pro Bowls and considered one of the best FBs of his era, Donnie Edwards had a great career at LB with Chargers and Chiefs, and both Buchanon and Garner were underrated, consistently successful position players over their careers. Garner was a bit of a late bloomer at RB IN Oakland and Tampa Bay, he became a far better, reliable RB as he grew older, sort of in the similar fashion Roddy White did over the course of his long, fruitful career as a WR for Falcons.
Rich?
@@davidroberts7282 I don't see any of those guys being HOFs except maybe Janikowski. Rich Gannon would get in before most of them.
Sam W.
Imagine if Rich won a SB...
He'd probably be in the Hall of Fame...
Funny how Rice played through 3 generations of players
So has Brady lol
Wait for a Patriots video lol, Brady wasn't in this game. Jerry Rice is THE GOAT, position doesn't matter.
Hey that Drew kid doesn’t look too bad!
Lol
Haha, yeah I think he might just have a future in this league
Brian Harper yeah he could work on his accuracy though, might have another good 10 years in the league.
@@theinvictussamaritan4778 What I love is he was pretty much responsible for dragging Sean Payton to New Orleans too. Sometimes it takes a hurricane..... Drew Brees, Mighty Mouse, my favorite QB ever to not wear a 49ers uniform..
Wheres david Boston
It's weird how back in the day I thought those Chargers uniforms were kinda boring but they look really nice in hindsight. Maybe it's just absence that makes me say that. Anywho, Jerry Rice, Tim Brown, Rich Gannon (ok not a legend but I liked him) vs a young Tomlinson and Brees is always a treat to watch.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder
SPTO the Chargers unis since 2007 have sucked. They ruined the powder blues except 09 where they brought back the real ones
I always liked the navy blue helmets way more. It looked more intimidating.
the navy version of those are my favorite all time
@@tvph Jerry Rice Is The True GOAT As A Legend
Imagine having the experience of Rich Gannon/Jerry Rice/Tim Brown in the huddle. Also, a young Drew Brees, with Tomlinson and (oft forgotten) Neal in the backfield. Beasts in, Woodson duo (Oak)/Jammer (SD) in the Secondary. So awesome to look back and watch these games from when i was a teenager. Thanks for this!
Zachary Madden I remember been about 6 or 7 and remembering them playing. Miss those days
Neal is not a forgotten Fullback in my book. He was a force at the position
@@mattthieme2918 I guess I just mean the position in general has become forgotten. With that, means many people missing out on talented ones in the past. If you are talking specifically about the best fullbacks, he wouldn't be forgotten but if you were talking about that Chargers team, people mention LT/Brees, but rarely mention Neal. It's almost like forgetting important O-Lineman on great teams. It just comes with the position.
Neal blocked for 6 1000 yard rushers I wanna say , him and tony Richardson for the chiefs former Auburn legend and larry centers as the best in this era am I wrong?
@@ericsigersmith2831 In that particular era I would add in MIke Alstott. Tony Richardson prob blocked for a decades worth of 1,000 yard rushers for the Chiefs and Larry Centers had amazing hands for his size, caught everything....and I was so happy when he finally won a SB with the Pats (even as a huge Bills fan who Centers also played for) after a big career for the Cardinals.
Man I had graduated in 02'. I remember this game fondly. My first year of fantasy football. Also forgot Brees has a receiving touchdown in his HOF career.
Actually I think he's had one in New Orleans too, from Taysum Hill the other QB
Brian Harper no. Drew Brees has expressed in interviews he really wants to have a touchdown reception in New Orleans though.
And yeah, it's always great to hear the late great Dick Enberg calling an AFC West game.
I remember vividly this game being treated as a struggle for the Raiders as they narrowly avoided a 1-3 start. In hindsight, it was the high point of a very disappointing 4-12 season. Gannon's last win in 2003 and the Raiders last win over the Chargers until 2010.
@Curly Que we would've beaten anyone except Tampa in 2002. And you're right...the success duped us (and more importantly, Al Davis) into thinking that a quick fix could be made.
@@manuginobilisbaldspot424 I remember Callahan saying dumbest team in America at press conference
I was at this game. Man I miss my chargers..
San Diego super chargers
God plz don’t let my Raiders lose to the Chargers 5 times in a row

You got your wish. GG, by the way. That was exciting, can't wait for week 16.
Great win for you guys to now be 5 and 4 and you got a legit RB in Josh Jacobs. 101 total yards and a TD. A beast. That Mack trade is not looking that bad, as it looked at first. Mack is a beast, still getting those draft picks helped and was the reason the Raiders drafted Jacobs.
You know it's going to be good when LT throws a TD to Brees
That free agent gates was an okay pickup I guess
Former basketball player at Kent st
Helluva game and a ton of legendary players for two teams that both ended up 4-12 that year.
I love seeing the updates for the other games that were happening, thanks for leaving those bits in!
Glad you like them!
Hell ya and war eagle!
Right when I started the video and the NFL on CBS Theme started playing, the TV in the background had an NFL on CBS as with that exact same variation of the theme. Just confused me for a second.
The way Gannon threw just looked weird. Not Phillip Rivers weird, but weird nonetheless. But it was affective!
Jerry Rice is the G.O.A.T of all Football any position & L.T. is the greatest receiving Running Back of all time damn I love this channel 💪💯
Nah. He's not LT. He's LaDainian Tomlinson. Don't get it twisted, Lawrence Taylor is LT. Lol
@@derpmcgerp8062 Lawrence Taylor is an all time great but LaDainian Tomlinson was just as important to his team than Lawrence Taylor was to his in my opinion
@@qceaz11 that's fair. Maybe instead of LT it could be LDT, to avoid confusion. Lol

Brees, LT, and Antonio Gates sheesh .... Just imagine if they were in their primes my goodness ....
2-3 Superbowl champions
10:00 Dante Hall's 97 yard return for a touchdown (against the Vikings) is the longest in Chief's history; but several years ago he was nearly matched by Tyreek Hill's 95 yard return for a touchdown against the Chargers.
What a exciting game!
With legends like The Woodsons,Rice,T.Brown,L.Tomlinson,Brees,Asomugha,Jammer,Janikowsky.
Lincoln Kennedy was a great tackle
These are fun. Not a fan of either team, but these were fun teams. Several GOATs on this field.
Ya love the random games
The Raiders decade+ of .290 football started right here under current Redskins head coach Bill Callahan
It started because Gannons career ended. When he broke his neck.
@@vernac86 marquis tuiasosopo was the backup I think former washington huskie
Great game, the NFL needs to change the OT rules back to what they used to be, I mean each team had a possession, and Oakland just so happened to be the team to win the field position battle to get the FG and win the game.
Tim Brown was my favorite player for soooo long
46 yards in the dirt, Sea bass!
First round pick , probably will never see that again ....
Man, I would hate to be the corners that had to cover Tim Brown and Jerry Rice.
I wished they had those old uniforms for the chargers even the very dark navy blue ones in a madden game
Everytime the chargers have the ball, pls, WATCH LORENZO NEAL!! One of the greatest fullbacks to ever play the game, kicking ass.
Hell ya 6 1000 yard rushers
Awesome. Thank you for posting
Man love that Rich Gannon. Killed these youngsters....26/43 (60.4%) for 348 yards 3 TD's and 1 INT...not too shabby for a 38 year old.
You commented something similar on a different raiders throwback game lol
@@lovetrain3256 Yeah, totally. I gave more of like an overview of how different his career was on the Raiders and as an older player versus a younger one...this was just a beast game he played lol
back when OT had no time limit.... and one of Gannons last games
Lol no. The clock at the Coliseum stopped working. OT was 15 minutes still back then. Sudden death.
I can't believe chargers let Brees go thinking his shoulder was done. They would have for sure add it to a Super Bowl a few times in this time period with LT. I wonder what would have happened if the dolphins signed him instead of culpepper
The 2003 Raiders were a wreck. They go from going to the Super Bowl to 4-12 and then a long playoff drought.
It was Gannons injury that cost them the season.
Dumbest team in America Callahan said lmao remember
I clicked on this video so fast, I got here before the notification.
Love it!

@@ericsigersmith2831 Classic Memories
Should have used the 2016 Week 5 game which was the same exact score as this one
Janikowski always was clutch
It’s weird seeing Brees in a charger uniform
For me growing up in SD, it's the opposite.😎👍
@@miggy2times Best Childhood Memories!
Imagine the Chargers got rid of Brees thinking he was 'all done'
Mike Pratt imagine how many Chargers fans were crying when they saw Brees hoisting up the Lombardi in a Saints uniform...
@@theinvictussamaritan4778 I know this 2 years old but drew Brees being traded was not the reason why the chargers didn't win a super bowl. If they kept him it probably turns out the same. Why ? you might ask well the reason is tom Brady and the Patriots. 3 times they met and 3 times the chargers lost. Also Phillip rivers is gonna be in the hall of fame so they didn't end up with a bad qb after all. I know Brees is better but the qb position is not the reason why the chargers didn't win or even get to a SB ...
Amazing game. RN4L. Just win baby!!!!
Great upload that was a good Raiders team too how they go 4-12 in 03 with all that talent?
Age and the motivation they had from the Tuck Rule in 2002 was gone. Their defense was just abysmal and on the road, they just couldn't get down the field the way they did at home. When Gannon got hurt in Week 8 against KC, the season was done. But they lost a couple of frustrating, winnable games to Cleveland and Chicago on the road that pretty much told me the run was over.
They were really really old and steroids stopped working for romanowski lmao
This channel is so cool
Shout out to Tim Brown for being old as fuck but still balling
The game was played on 09/28/2003 .. This was the last time the raiders beat the chargers until 2010
Do you have the Raiders vs Broncos (week before this)?
Raiders got really old real.fast.
Gruden loved older players same with al Davis
Jerry looks so young and quick, but he is so old
Padres played their last game at the Q that day
Rickey henderson was legend on this field also
Don’t sleep on the 80 yard punt from Lechler!
Watching this as the Chargers are losing to the Raiders
Nice nice players in this game
Was there no clock in OT?
The clock at the Coliseum had stopped working.
San Diego Chargers was member AFC West Division from 1970 through 1993 and Los Angeles Raiders was member AFC West Division from 1970 through 1993 era
Quick question? Was overtime back in the day sudden death or did they just forget to put the time up?
15:00 minutes first team to score wins CBS probably had problems
The Coliseum clock had malfunctioned so CBS couldn't keep track as it was being done on the field by the officials.
15:35 Gotta love how Nnamdi Asomugha was playing gunner on special teams back then, and also how they talk of Antonio Gates as being some unkown undrafted guy who used to play basketball lol
What could've been. If only the Chargers kept Brees.
The Raiders were trash after their trip to the Super Bowl, while the chargers ascended their way into a much improved team under Marty Schottenheimer that led to a playoff appearance the year after
Yeah all those years when you were good and we were horrible. When was the last time we went to the superbowl and when was the last time the chargers went?
@Curly Que raiders with salary cap were in rough shape after sam Adams and others left or got old or hurt
Man the chargers should keep this young brees kid, he looks decent
It's always weird seeing brees in a chargers uniform
Brees, LT, and Gates on the same team. Damn, what did the Chargers do to themselves?
Amazing game. Overtime was actually overtime and not that garbage rule where a team could march down immediately and kick to win
8:08 Basketball player Antonio Gates
Drew Brees is still the greatest Charger of all time.
Dion R if he stayed with the chargers maybe. But LT is the greatest charger
Ladanian
So we just gonna forget about or not even mention Junior Seau?
Really i was thinking Rivers
Where was David boston this game?
LT was like you were playing Madden watching him run, catch, and throw. Isn't he the RB with the most touchdown passes from his position?
@Tyler G even Payton was their best qb smh
@Tyler G Yeah I totally forgot about Sweetness. He was the first and I think he is the record holder.
crazyhotgirlsreactions.link/_VRftrfzrvc
Walter Payton had eight. Tomlinson had seven. And Marcus Allen had six for the Raiders and Chiefs.
@@manuginobilisbaldspot424 Thanks I was going to look it up. Thanks for putting up the numbers. Forgot about Marcus Allen throwing TD's, damn he had 6 though. Just look at that list. All 3 are great.
This would be the last time the raiders would beat the chargers for the next ten years
Why would the NFL ever have their players playing on baseball fields and sharing stadiums with baseball teams i will never understand that that’s so unsafe
Safer than astroturf, which was the alternative…
Stadiums are expensive, especially when taxpayers are finding them. Many middle-tier cities could get public funding for *a stadium*, not two, and that’s how you ended up with all the multipurpose “concrete donuts”. They even ruined beautiful baseball-only stadiums like the Oakland Coliseum, Candlestick Park, Anaheim Stadium, etc by turning them into multipurpose monoliths. Luckily Anaheim Stadium has since been restored
I was born in 2003
Too Bad Bill Callahan Sabotaged the Superbowl for Mob Associate Anthony D.Panico. He purposefully altered 4 point underdogs Run Offense , 48 Hours before Superbowl to A Pass MAJORITY Offense thus allowing for a Higher Scoring Game beneficial to the Favorites Buccaneers
The raiders last win against the chargers until 2010
Inez Qtaish say " everything happens for a reason, many people can not under why GOD do what GOD do, for good reason, what don't kill you makes you stronger. Everything will be alright , GOD loves YOU AND ME..
The year Drew Brees got benched for old man Doug Flutie, which prompted the Chargers to draft Philip Rivers. Then Drew inexplicably started to play well in 2004, and never turned back. BTW, I actually wish the Chargers would go back to these uniforms, but they're in LA now anyway so whatever.
Ya I think this was when butler was the chargers gm
