What's incredible is that without fingers, you don't have all those weird little movements. You can't hide a micro-movement, you have to play in plain sight. I am amazed, congratulations
Actually it's easier for him, with no hands, as Penn was trying to get him to admit. You see, a magician with both of his hands can't toss cards around in a sloppy manner without alerting the audience to their trickery. What I mean to say is if Penn had been up there, and he was moving the cards all sloppy like the handless guy, the audience would immediately deduce that he is cheating. However, when the handless guy makes a questionable move, you excuse it, because...he has no hands. This makes it easier for him to do all kinds of trickery because you will automatically chalk it up to him having no hands. Imagine if Penn had gone up there and manipulated the cards in the same manner as the handless guy. You be crying foul at the first sight of any unconventional hand movements. That's what gives the handless guy an edge, he doesn't have to conform to your ideas of how a magician should or shouldn't do a trick, he is beyond all accountability. That is a huge asset in the world of magicians.
@@kyleweir689 which is extra impressive considering what he was saying was wrong. Penn and Teller's guess was that some of the cards were textured to allow him to manipulate them as he did, the whole spiel about smooth and rough for him was Penn's attempt to disguise his guess in case he was right

I'm one of those magic fans who love the techniques, the gimmicks and watching for the switches & picks & dumps and while I'm pretty sure I know both how and when the different parts of the trick were done, it was so clean, honestly one of the most impressive performances of oil and water I've ever seen. And I watched like 25 times before I felt confident that I could pick the when's, but like I said, I didn't see the when's. I just know that the when's had to have been then and then, because there was no other opportunities Seriously outstanding. If a magician without a disability did this trick this clean, it would impress me. I'm beyond impressed.
Honestly one of the most inspiring magicians. It looks so simple and it's hard to see where there was space to manipulate the cards, and they aren't covered up by hands like they are usually with sleight of hand tricks, just incredible. When I was a kid (maybe about 12-15) I went to a Penn and Teller show on about my 5th vacation to Vegas. These guys were not only incredible magicians and comedians, but they were genuinely some of the nicest men I've ever met. We were also fortunate enough to do a meet and greet with them after the show. Teller completely caught me off guard with how outspoken and polite his is off stage, and Penn is exactly how you'd imagine from his stage presence. I remember talking to them for a good few minutes and before we left, they asked if we'd brought anything they could sign for us. The only thing I could find on my was my wallet that had a little money and jokingly asked if they'd autograph a 1 dollar bill. Both kinda laughed at it but then said "sure." While Penn signed it, he also marked out the word "God" in sharpie and said "just remember that any time a government has to bring up God, it's because they're trying fuck you over while pretending to be righteous." As a kid of that age, it was pretty much the first time I'd ever heard anyone say that but it stuck with me to this day. Now, in 2021, his words seemed absolutely prophetic and I am genuinely grateful for having seen and met these guys in person. If you ever get the chance, I would HIGHLY recommend catching one of their shows, especially if you get the chance to talk to them. Absolutely lovely gentlemen.
From my neck of the woods, the most common phrase involving God and government would be "God save the King/Queen." A righteous phrase for sending soldiers off to battle, to probably die in place of their monarch. So I'd agree, Penn really hit the nail on that coffin!
I caught one of their shows a very long time ago, in a small local venue, before they got big. Teller worked the concession booth at intermission, and stayed in character. I spoke to Penn during his smoke break. Both great guys.
I discovered your magic when you were on Penn and Teller's official channel, and now I have subscribed to your channel and watched this for about the fourth time. I helped you out with my hands and fingers each time. They watch you like a hawk knowing the trick, but they are handicapped since they know sleight of hand. You are doing sleight of magic.

Wow. Amazing. Such extreme courage and perseverance to reach that level of mastery, when pretty much everything in the world says it’s not meant for him. So many amazing magicians with two hands are unable to fool Penn and Teller. And it’s not like the guy created a new magic trick-it’s a known trick that he found a way to do in a new, unnoticeable way.

Very interesting indeed. I worked in Hollywood for a while. We sometimes referred to the editors in post-production as, "Magicians." They truly are. Nicely done!
@@BMCDVPJ Fool Us has a lot of cuts, it needs to, to prevent magicians secrets from getting exposed. Cameras destroy magic. But whether or not they know how it was done, doesn't actually influence whether or not you get a trophy. If you fool them it's a guarantee, but more people who haven't fooled them have gotten trophies than those who do. The reason is because it's all about entertainment and drawing in crowds. If they believe you are good for the business, regardless of how obvious the trick is, they allow you to take part of their tour. This does 2 things, it spreads the work of magic to more people increasing the industry so everyone profits more, and it gets more people into it so new mechanics/tech is found, to advance the evolution of magic. It is biased, sure. But none of that really matters to us, so long as we can be amazed and entertained at a moment's notice, without any effort, because people like Penn and Teller and the people who join their show give us everything. Sometimes, you need to let things slide. Of course nothing is truly a "miracle" but anything can be magical, and magical doesn't mean unrealistic. Appreciate what you have, who you have, everything you've been given and the life you've lived. And that is Magic.
It seems as if it could have just been them editing out 5-10 seconds of him sorting those black cards and moving the deck to the side, just trying to make the act more fluid for tv

When I was a kid, I watched a man with one hand pitch a no-hitter in the MLB. His name was Jim Abbott. And he proved to me that you can do anything, if you try hard enough.
I saw him pitch at the Skydome in Toronto and it was one of the few games I had seats behind home plate. It was a one-hitter for most of the game. The most amazing part was the speed with which he got his hand back into his glove to grab a smokin' line drive. Now that was a magic trick!

@@todds.1821 you've broken the record for how many times you can restate the same thing

I just know that the when's had to have been then and then, because there was no other opportunities
Seriously outstanding.
What a balance between life message and just incredible magic. Thank you for persevering to bring us this!

Both kinda laughed at it but then said "sure."
While Penn signed it, he also marked out the word "God" in sharpie and said "just remember that any time a government has to bring up God, it's because they're trying fuck you over while pretending to be righteous." As a kid of that age, it was pretty much the first time I'd ever heard anyone say that but it stuck with me to this day.
