Havandale Blvd, you know why Mel Gibson didn't get any awards for Apocalypto right? I love the guy but about 15 20 years ago the idiot got arrested and went on a rampage and made so many anti-semitic insults. Whether he knew it or not he was being recorded by the patrol car camera. Well he forgot that Jewish people have a lot of power in Hollywood. Don't get me wrong, I'm not being anti-semitic like other people when they make this exact comment. If you read the history of early Hollywood or you watch a PBS documentary on Jewish people and the beginnings of Hollywood, you will understand what I mean and that I'm not being anti-semitic. It was Jewish males who were there in the forefront of Hollywood's creation. That's why they have a strong influence in Hollywood. I'm giving it to you from a historical perspective as to why they have a lot of power and thus influence in Hollywood; I'm not giving it to you from an anti-semitic point of view as most people would give it. For many years Mel Gibson was pretty much black listed & hasn't done much work in Hollywood after his anti semitic insults. People in hollywood that were not jewish also didn't want to associate with him. Hate speech gets you in a lot of trouble, it can ruin careers. We'll see what happens in the next presidential elections because there is one person that makes a lot of racist and hateful comments and tweets. I think that Apocalypto was a great movie, although historically and culturally incorrect. I think that at least they should have won for best costume or aything for the amazing work they did. People often bitch that a movie is not historically correct, well not shit, it's a Hollywood movie.

This Is My Opinion but Tim Robbins got robbed in my book Dead Man Walking was a masterpiece of filmmaking and Made me an even bigger fan of his Braveheart was fantastic but it wasn't as good in my book.
Jordan Alford It was a good movie, but it was NOT great. For Mel to make a film that consistently enthralls audiences, while they're watching characters on screen get brutally butchered.... that is GREAT filmmaking.
_Braveheart_ arguably gave us the first and last 'proper' (i.e. non CGI) realistic medieval battle scenes in film. 20 years later - my God I can't believe it! - and they are not diminished. That moment of impact when the English cavalry smashes into the Scots' army's crude pikes (during the first battle) is still absolutely breath-taking. He deserved the Oscar for that scene alone. And now I have to go and watch it!
Hacksaw Ridge was a masterpiece and Gibson deserves an Oscar for that one. What he did with that film is absolutely amazing and the Academy should actually put aside their issues, and recognize the man. They gave an Oscar and a standing ovation to Roman Polanski, so Gibson is all right. In the times we are living in a film like Hacksaw Ridge is a story of hope that deserves to be recognized for what it is - a masterpiece.
William Wallace said on the movie "Your heart is free. Have the courage to follow it". Well, Mel did follow his heart to create that amazing movie and he had his fair reward. "Braveheart" is a truly Masterpiece.
In just two short years, Braveheart will approach its 30th anniversary.
