I found that the silicon thing above knee doesn't really do anything. Lifting the one behind calve slightly keeps them from slipping a lot better.

I order them 2 weeks ago and i just used them 5 or 6 times, but the midle silicone strip of the pair is coming apart. do you have the same problem ? Btw, your reviews are really helpfull, you give us so many details about the product. probably one of the best review´s channel. Thanks :)

Thanks Afonso! At the moment the silicon strip is fine. I've used them now maybe 20 times now? That's unfortunate that yours are doing that. If they're not too old you might be able to replace them? I'm wondering is it warm where you are? Maybe sweat is removing it? It's quite cold in Ireland now so I haven't been sweating too much while cycling.

Do these offer support as well as protection? I have pretty worn knees so looking for support too. Thanks!

Can i ask you how do you choose the size, because i 'm 1,85 cm and i find out that the right size for me is S, but its quite strange

I'm 188cm and I bought the Large. I actually bought mine from a local bike shop so I got to try them on first so I just went with the size that felt comfortable. The sizes are measured by the circumference of your leg, so you should wrap a measuring tape around your leg and try to match it up with their sizing guide on their website; www.alpinestars.com/products/paragon-plus-knee-protector#.VPyT1_nF8us The button for the size guide is just above all the different sizes. I hope that helps a bit.

I don't know exactly, but it feels like a flexible plastic/rubber. They're certified as CE EN 1621 which is a motorcycle standard for protective gear. Level 1 seems to be listed on a lot of other knee protectors such as 661 and fox gear. Level 1 is the second highest level of protection, level 2 is the highest. I haven't found anything yet with level 2 for mountain biking, all knee protectors seem to reference level one. So given that whatever material is in there should do a good job at protecting you.
