    I would love a pad like that but it’s bigger than my tent when both are packed lol. Would be good for car camping!

      All of my camping these days, I can park near the campsite. This is definitely not ideal for activities like backpacking. I'm looking forward to using this in a few weeks when we sleep on the concrete floor of an airplane museum with the scouts. This will be very comfortable.

      @@Rickmakes how did it work on the concrete floor.

      @@abedj1220 It worked great! This has been my go to pad for camping since I got it. I took it to week long summer camp with my kid. My last weekend campout was on rough ground and I didn't feel a thing. The only downside of this is that it's kinda big when rolled up but otherwise, I really like it.

    Very clear and helpful video. I had already bought one but when I went to set it up, I was confused as to why it wasn’t inflating. You mentioned the special valve that adds more air to it. My mistake was I wasn’t opening the second cap. Thinking some of the other commenters were having the same issue?

    • @Rickmakes

      Could be. I notice it doesn't inflate as well when cold. I often use an inflator to help it along but then open the valve so it is at neutral pressure before I cap it off. I've camped a number of nights on this mat (including just last night). I really like it.

    I brought this exact one shown...
    left 48hrs only to be about 1 inch thick
    it wasn't cheap either... self inflating in
    under a minute is aload of bollocks!!!
    it is good quality & moisture resistant
    it is also comfortable to sleep on...
    i would highly recommend this product.

      I've mostly been using mine in the cold so it inflates more slowly. I have been sticking a portable inflator on it for a few seconds to help it along. I fill it up pretty firm and cap it when I set up my tent. This seems to help the foam expand more fully. Then, when I go to bed, I'll vent off any extra pressure and re-cap it. That puts it at the firmness I like. During my last campout, the ground under my tent was terrible. I didn't notice at all through the pad.

    I noticed on Amazon there's 2.76 inch and 3.16 inch version. Which one are you using in this video?

    • @Rickmakes
      @Rickmakes  4 месяца назад

      Mine is the green 3.16" version. This had been my go to camping pad since I got it. It's quite a bit bulkier than my old Thermarest but a lot more comfortable, especially on rough ground.

    Hello, I bought this based on your video. Arrived today. So..the valve has been open for over 5 minutes and nothing is happening..supposed to be 3 inches thick. I'm confused.

    • @Rickmakes

      Is it completely compressed or did it expand a little? When pads like this are new, it can sometimes help to place them in the sun for a little bit (maybe half an hour) to heat them up and help relax the foam.

      @@Rickmakes Thank you. It took 45 minutes

    Mine is open since a couple of hours and it's still pretty flat. I blowed some air in with my mouth and the area close to the valve is much thicker. I'm keeping both valves open. What's wrong with it? Do you suggest to return it?

    • @Rickmakes
      @Rickmakes  4 месяца назад

      You might try putting a little more air in it. You can inflate it until it looks full. You could use an air mattress inflator or even a vac that has a blower output. It can also help to put it in the sun or someplace else warm to help the foam relax. This probably happens because it has been compressed for a long period in the warehouse. To get the best performance out of this (or any other self inflating mattress), it can help to store it open. For instance, you could store it under a bed and then roll it up before you take it on a trip. This way the foam spends most of its time in a relaxed state as opposed to a compressed state.

    Hi..how long did it take to inflate?

    • @Rickmakes
      @Rickmakes  Год назад

      It takes less than a minute to inflate. In colder weather, it wouldn't hurt to give it at least a few minutes to make sure the foam is fully expanded. I would do that with this or any other self-inflating pad.
