This film means the world to me. This scene especially, captures everything I love and feel about this masterpiece. Perfection. It makes me cry, really.
I mean you can interpret it that way, for sure, although I'd say that's more of a theme in The Last Jedi than Blade Runner 2049. I think BR2049 is more about the human condition and what it means to be human, rather than being about "even the most nobody of nobodies can accomplish something" (which is certainly a focal theme of the other Sci-Fi epic, Star Wars Episode 8, released in the same year/period). However, it is certainly a truism that yes, this film certainly does show that you can be as insignificant as possible in society, yet still achieve amazing things. And in that sense, it truly is a commentary on the human condition; we can achieve and accomplish such amazing things, no matter who we are.
just noticed that in the movie, two holograms talk to K and call him Joe. Frank in this scene and Joi in the other one. while one fills him with hope for the future, elevates his own ego as he thinks he’s the chosen one, and most of all, is seemingly from his favourite artist. it also connects him to Deckard somewhat, as he seems to enjoy Frank’s singing too. while Joi utterly tears it all down, his ego, his self worth. It severs the connection he had with his own Joi, she was nothing but a product made to make him feel good. despite the glaring difference between the two, those two holograms were both hollow in meaning, yet K ultimately found meaning in both.
I almost cried. Chills all over my body. I realise that the apocalypse is about to come, as an accurate prediction Sc-fi movies sometimes make. And that in the world after that robots will be more human than humans.
I've never read a comment that I've been able to relate so wholeheartedly before; God bless you, and thank you. You took the words and thoughts right out of my mouth and mind, thank you.

Agree - underrated film
Best scene in the movie in my opinion. K loves Frank Sinatra, he’s the man of the past he’s desperately trying to be.
God, this movie was a beautiful story about the great things any of us can accomplish
what? did you see the movie?

What Sinatra album is this?
It's included on "Frank Sinatra Sings for Only The Lonely"
Booman thank you so much. The version played here is from Sinatra & Sextet: Live in Paris.
The Only the Lonely version is gorgeous - string accompaniment.
