Excellent video as always Dan. This was my first experience with the FF series, and although the introduction and the gunblade were awesome, 10 year old me could never wrap my head around the GF system or the minigames. A shame really, but hearing some of those music tracks really brought back long-forgotten memories. Also, Gwent is incredible :P
It was my first expose too tbf but just the battles and visuals, no touching the menus. Maybe it was for the best as I think it could have turned me off the series :P I mean, maybe when I eventually get around to W3 again I'll have an honest go at Gwent but... man I find it hard to motivate myself to do in game CCGs!
Top review as always Dan. Loved the game at the time I played it, but then I was busy pretending a hockey stick was a gunblade in my back garden. I liked the battle on the Garden though. I certainly find it a disjointed affair now though.
Yeah it's full of great moments that don't lead in to one another overly smoothly! It's a very stylish game though and I think that's really part of why it's enjoyable still despite it's flaws.
Another brilliant video Dan. Although I didn’t quite complete it in my teens first time round, I have fond memories of this game that you’ve captured beautifully here. The jump in visuals between VII and VIII, the incredible OST (Fisherman’s Horizon ooft), and that intro. It just shows how mighty a force nostalgia can be as it isn’t until you pointed out the flaws of the Draw system that I remembered how lacking it is. Don’t worry about the Triple Triad error. Everyone already knows it’s the best FF mini-game ;)
Another great review Dan. 'Man with the machine gun' is such an awesome track. FF8 is an odd one for me as I really like the orphange story / reveal and the tie in with Laguna and crew. But it's as you rightly say, so many of the other characters are just lost in this story and seem to become redundant so quickly. It's a shame they didn't get better arcs. Looking forward to your FF9 review, my all time favourite.
Yeah it's a shame as they had great potential! It would have been nice to see Selphie struggling to keep up her optimistic persona for example. A little disappointing but hey ho! Glad you enjoyed it mate :)

Thanks! What can I say, I guess I'm human after all! ;P
