In Australia we call them Red Fin, and they are classified an invasive species that can not be released when caught. They can grow upwards of ten pounds in some water ways and make good eating. Looked like you had a lot of fun George, that's what it's all about.
I knew you had them over there but I didn’t know they needed to be killed! We have a similar rule with Zander, they’re supposed to be killed but no one does. Do people ignore the rules and put perch back? I didn’t know they got to 10lb that’s crazy!
I have never caught redfin in the Murray river anywhere near ten pounds, those big fellas were caught in irrigation drainage lakes. that were not easily accessed. The water that filled the lakes had been drawn from the Murray river transported via open cut channels to irrigate properties then drained in those lakes. I have also caught them to that size in major water reservoirs and compounds that were constructed to hold vast amounts of water for town and city domestic use.@@RUclipsTookMyNickname.WhyNot
Congratulations George, what an absolute unit and from a Canal that you have never fished before. It just shows that it you do the ground work what rewards are on offer.
Congratulations on that big catch! Well handled! I once caught a 2lb perch on a high bridge here in Sweden. That was the toughest thing to pull out. Dad helped me and we managed to get it out. It was like 15+ years ago. My dad still speaks about it 😊
I used to fish the Spring Branch there. section upto the Castle back. Massive Perch and Pike and Carp well into doubles. It was a while ago now though. They drained that stretch and it killed it but the fish will still be around. One of the best places to catch and never blanked. Happy catching kida. all best.
Thanks for watching mate! Yeah unfortunately it seems like the quality of fishing is going down all over. I’m sure as you say there will be great fish around still!
Wonder if its worth looking for Weedless jig heads to try n combat the snag issues. And Ive found when using softplastics on a jig head like those that they work or fish better on sumthing like a Palomar loop knot rather than the knot being right up on the hook eye.
Yeah weedless rigging could definitely help me lose a bit less tackle I’ll look into it 👍 I need to improve my knots too for sure, the rapala knot is great and does something similar
Well done on the PB George Absolute quality fish, and it was great to meet you hopefully see you again. Good too see this place get some recognition. Ps I was the lad who seen you in the cafe 😀

When fishing the canals aren't you able to use a weedless system like a Texas Rig where you get the worm please turn on the hook just like you did and get the end of it and kind of slide it onto the hook so that way it doesn't snag on everything in the canal

Nice catch👌🙂
I don’t think many people eat fish from canals it’s not very clean water 👍 thanks for watching!
I spent a year on the calder last year, trying to catch my first pike in the last decade. Instead ended up catching a lump of a 2lb perch. Then blanked for a few more months before catching two pike in one day. Cant write it 😂
What a great fish, I’d take that over a 10lb pike any day! Glad to hear you found a few fish in the end 👍 thanks for watching!
If they sell savage gear 4play use them for like. I use a 8inch in Minnesota
Lovely perch well done 👏
Thanks for watching mate!
Well done George !!! atb
Thanks mate, hope you're well!
is a 5-40g rod good for perch and trout and sea fish
Too heavy for perch and trout, and very much depends what kind of sea fishing you want to do!
I've seen fish with Carl throw 15g jigheads and shads for perch. I'd be fishing for Pollock mainly. I mean there's got to be 5gtrout lures eh
Way to stick with it and well rewarded.
Thanks mate, was a long day without much action!
Congratulations on your new PB. Not much comes close to catching big Perch!
Thanks mate! Agreed, although i've not been lucky enough to catch many 🎣
Hi George, thanks for another great adventure , fair enjoyed it , by the way my last to comments on your resent videos got deleted 😮 , Don't know why 😭
Thanks for watching! I don’t recall, maybe you mentioned the name of a location? I automatically remove comments like that so I don’t upset local people who fish the same waters 👍
@@adventurefishinguk No, I'd never do that , they were my normal everyday comments that I post to you every time .
@@mickhardstaff6605 perhaps it didn’t go through okay. RUclips also sometimes filters out comments automatically, sometimes if there’s a link in the comment or a rude word. It can be a bit temperamental!
