  • Tromsø, the northern capital of Norway and gateway to the Arctic. Set 350 kilometres above the Arctic Circle it is a springboard for experiencing some major bucket list items. For us, we witnessed the Northern lights in spectacular fashion, finally witnessed Orcas in real life and enjoyed some time with reindeers and the adrenaline rush of sledding with Huskies.

    Wonderful! Inspiration for my own trip! I’m happy to see your whale watching tour appeared to maintain their distance from the humpbacks and orca, as I hear the regulations are not the best in Norway and can cause some behavioural changes in orca groups avoiding boats etc.. the group you saw appeared to be happy to surface multiple times which is good to see :)

      @@mitchwitt9944 believe it or not, this was all filmed on an IPhone 13 Pro.
      The key thing is to have a tripod. To capture photos well with the northern lights the camera must have a longer exposure (you can donut to ten seconds with iPhone). But for this to work the phone has to be still the whole time.

      I believe October is a good time as there is still a good amount of daylight. Northern lights will have also started. You may or may not have snow (husky sledding might not be possible in this case).
      As Tromso is a bright city I would suggest you arrange two or three different northern lights tours. I suggest more than one as you may not always be lucky on the first night (as you will see in my video).

    Hi Adam, I am planning a trip around 7 Dec to Tromso. Is that a good time to see Northern lights?

    • @iadamtravel
      @iadamtravel  8 месяцев назад

      Absolutely! We were there mid December. Just remember though that the clouds can be unforgiving- clouds = no northern lights viewing

    • @iadamtravel
      @iadamtravel  Год назад +1

      We went with The Green Adventure. Small company, no more than 8 people on the tour and the smaller vehicle means you can 'chase' the lights, rather than having to wait for 60 other people to climb on and off a great big coach! Well worth the money :)

      Hi there. We headed out away from the city and into the darker back roads. We were about an hour from Tromso.
      We did see them over the city one night but the lights are too bright to appreciate.
      If you can’t get out far from town, try going up the cable cart late at night and take a walk along the top of the mountain away from the lights.
      Good luck!
