Well done Sam. Thank you for bringing different content and continuing the conversation about the future of the classic car. I think we have to decide what we love about classics, the sculpture of the body or the drivetrains.
Both are fundamental. We don't have to decide anything. Classic cars aren't destroying the planet. Priuses that climate activists commute thousands of miles in to their endless virtue signaling protests are.
It's the whole thing. The entire appeal about driving older cars is all the flaws; the vibrations, the suboptimal weight distributions, the touchy gearboxes. All the finessing these cars require you to do to drive them well is precisely what gives them character and makes them fun to drive. I am a Taycan RWD owner. I love this video. I am very happy with my Porsche and I dream having an electric 911 in early years. The future is here really !!! 😃
Great way to save the classics. You are right if they literally make it so expensive to own a petrol powered car to make us all go EV then this is great. Problem is the cost not just for this conversion but for any conversion.
Fascinating project and video Sam, thanks. Electric classics, why not? Book me in for an electric Triumph Stag please, they had a questionable engine anyway, so perfect candidate!
If the engine is not what makes the car interesting, I'm onboard. Air-cooled Porsche is not in that category in my opinion. But that is just my opinion.
Amazing car, and now i have all the extra detail from this fantastic review makes me love it even more. Although not sure on the noise and fake exhausts. Great work Everrati!!! My TVR EV conversion will be more....TVR 😉⚡💪
I like the finished product, I'm not keen on chopping up an original 964, but a lot of the future is heading this way. The biggest bugbear for me is the lack of sound, it's hard to get into it if it sounds like an electric forklift.
A very interesting expose of a fascinating car. This is the EV that I could love! Sam, you do this to me so often. Fascinating content with amazing production value. Far exceeding the norm in automotive RUclips. I hope your channel explodes. Thanks again.
Best of a bad world. Might aswell have an iconic shape on top of electric running gear for the week days, and a petrol powered one for the weekends 👍 For me,just needs the turbo wing and black stickers Infront of the rear arches.
I saw this car at the London Concours (should be on my RUclips video of the event)! For an EV 911 I would prefer a Taycan Sci Fi like sound than that of the flat 6. Very impressive.
If they did an option of either an electric version and a combustion version, I bet the combustion one would outsell the electric one. But it does appear to be probably the best version of an electric car so far. Just needs three pedals. Lol
This electric car is so cool. I hope they take the same platform and put different body styles on it. It would be awesome to buy any old car, but a modern electric version of it.
I was ready to blast this 😀. However after taking in the car, the albeit fake soundtrack I have to admire it, I do. As ever the Sam enthusiasm which can’t ever be faked shines through. I still feel it’s a little blasphemous but it is a resto mod which is a term that now extends to EV conversions. I agree with your suggestion that a whole new raft of people previously scared might go for this. I would still prefer an original restoration but I see a market and interest for this type of restoration. I’d never rip out a perfectly functioning engine to create this but arguably if it was waiting to be broken… The price though. I get it as you’re paying towards R&D too, is just too expensive. I run three cars, a modern BMW 420 Gran Coupe and two modern classics, an old Z3 and a 360 but. I’d never afford this and if I could there would be a 458 and some ICE 911 in my garage. I guess maybe my future grandchildren may be able [almost] to experience what we can. Great video Sam 👍
32 million cars in uk On average 500-600k new cars sold each year (more than half are still pure fuel and diesel) Less than 10% of cars sold in uk so far in 2021 we’re pure electric It’ll be many many years before all cars on the road will be electric. Combustion engine is here for a loooong time yet 👍
Sam, really interesting car! Just one question; why does it have exhaust pipes? Surely this must be the only EV with exhaust pipes. Interesting that you did not show the electric motor and battery. All Everrati's promotional material does not show what's underneath - why would that be? Keep up the good work
Me… maxing out the volume on my ipad while watching. It’s weird seeing the car take off and expecting to hear a flat six, but hearing none of that…Nicely done nontheless Watching this after a spirited drive with the M2 makes me even more sad. I’m sure going to miss those when electric cars are mainstream
Thanks for your video. My question is: Is a classic car without its engine still remains a classic car? In my opinion it's not as a car is a whole thing where bodywork and motor play eachone a role. Hopefully governments will find a way to give old cars a chance to survive in the future, with a max KM/year driving for instance. Greetings from Belgium.
The fun in a classic car is the way it drives, the way it looks and feels when you’re behind the wheel. Its a different experience to a modern car. It’s not all down to the noise of the engine, even though that’s part of the appeal.
When ever Sam gets confused and ranty I get a Craig from Parks & Rec vibe lol Also, lots of hate in the comments but if it keeps these beautiful machines on the road then EV is all good IMO
if i'm being honest, i don't get it. if i wanted an electric car i would get a new one, because that would be a good car. Old cars are mostly sh*t but i love them for their engine and gearbox. Removing those makes no sense to me.
The problem is that in a few years you most certainly can't drive your old car in a city. That will limit your access and give it a few years there will be a not so many petrolstations left but a fastcharger on every corner. Early Adopter and expensive but ready for the future but sure not for everyone.
@@rolandhaberer6217 I think that's fine, you wouldn't want to drive a classic in a city centre either way, these cars are made for back roads and mountain roads.
Very very nice, but isn’t keeping the 60/40 weight imbalance like doing a restomod Jag and keeping all the original Lucas electrics? Obviously the future, though!
Lovely car. Money no object, sure, but at £250k, that's bordering on pristine 964 turbo/rs money. Great video as ever Sam. You bring a average bloke view on these things.
Although I agree with it being slightly backwards electrifying a beautiful petrol motor such as this one, I can’t help but think this is a genius idea. Take a rusty, weathered 25 year old Porsche, replace some panels and slap a battery and electric motor in there and you’ve got a winner. Would much rather see these on the road than the boring e-corsas etc. Although can’t imagine the price tag being anywhere near affordable

eventually even the 911 will have to be electric by imposition.
@@hartze4946 Yup, and it will be as soulless and uninspiringly over-sanitized as every other BEV.
I think this is a great option for rolling 911's without engines, better than shoving an LS in it.
it looks so good, quite a shame that it’s electric
It's the opposite imo, as parts become harder to find for these older cars these conversions keep them on the road
@@CianMcsweeney i can't speak for other classic car communities, but for an icon like the 911 there'll be plenty as time goes on.
Synthetic fuels can’t get here quick enough IMHO.
And the cost of the infrastructure you`ll be paying for..
LOL Not realistic.
To answer the question. I really hope it isn't..
It looks bloody fantastic 😍
Brilliant! I love this and I'm confused by it at the same time! Great video as always!
My Dad had a 911, he would love this. 😍 and much more power than his. 😉
Best of a bad world.
Might aswell have an iconic shape on top of electric running gear for the week days, and a petrol powered one for the weekends 👍
For me,just needs the turbo wing and black stickers Infront of the rear arches.
I saw this car at the London Concours (should be on my RUclips video of the event)! For an EV 911 I would prefer a Taycan Sci Fi like sound than that of the flat 6. Very impressive.
Great video Sam, whilst I love the combustion engine I love this car, looks amazing. Keep up the great work mate 👍🏼
If they did an option of either an electric version and a combustion version, I bet the combustion one would outsell the electric one.
But it does appear to be probably the best version of an electric car so far. Just needs three pedals. Lol
One of your best yet Sam. Great video. Thought provoking. All good. PS. Where did you get your jacket!?
Sam, if it's any consolation, my absolute dream car is a convertible 1951 XK120 resto'd and electrified by Icon.
I’d never rip out a perfectly functioning engine to create this but arguably if it was waiting to be broken…
The price though.
I love this. If it keeps these cars on the road then all for it. I want one!
If will have to go electric that’s definitely the way to go absolutely amazing.
That squirrel cracked me up so bad 😂.
Awesome video yet again Sam 🤘
This is great!
32 million cars in uk
On average 500-600k new cars sold each year (more than half are still pure fuel and diesel)
Less than 10% of cars sold in uk so far in 2021 we’re pure electric
It’ll be many many years before all cars on the road will be electric.
It’s weird seeing the car take off and expecting to hear a flat six, but hearing none of that…Nicely done nontheless
Watching this after a spirited drive with the M2 makes me even more sad. I’m sure going to miss those when electric cars are mainstream
I love that car would be a perfect car for every day then have the combustion one for the weekend.
Thanks for your video.
My question is:
Is a classic car without its engine still remains a classic car?
In my opinion it's not as a car is a whole thing where bodywork and motor play eachone a role.
Hopefully governments will find a way to give old cars a chance to survive in the future, with a max KM/year driving for instance.
Greetings from Belgium.
New vehicle ICE cars will be banned long before it’s illegal to drive them. I’m worried for jobs lost but I’m more worried about climate change.
Would 100% purchase one of these!!
They removed the soul of the 911- the silky smooth, seductive sound of the air cooled flat 6 engine. No thanks EVs!
Glad you didn't kill that squirrel !
incredible work
I never comment, BUT SAM's Squirrel Scream really made my day
I bet Tony loves this, old and electric. 🤣
Sadly, probably. But not a nice future at all. I mean what is a classic without all the fun?
The fun in a classic car is the way it drives, the way it looks and feels when you’re behind the wheel. Its a different experience to a modern car. It’s not all down to the noise of the engine, even though that’s part of the appeal.
@@magnustan841 I agree too, without driver aids, however dangerous, it's a ton of fun.
When ever Sam gets confused and ranty I get a Craig from Parks & Rec vibe lol
Also, lots of hate in the comments but if it keeps these beautiful machines on the road then EV is all good IMO
if i'm being honest, i don't get it. if i wanted an electric car i would get a new one, because that would be a good car.
They probably do it for the looks. They are a beauty after all.
@@rolandhaberer6217 we are decades away from that.
@@rolandhaberer6217 I think that's fine, you wouldn't want to drive a classic in a city centre either way, these cars are made for back roads and mountain roads.
Great video of things to come 😎
1 of your best videos & a fascinating niche product - arguably I'd say too powerful to be authentic
Fam your video quality and production is Amazing Sam!!! ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
Fantastic
Great video and great looking Porsche
Very very nice, but isn’t keeping the 60/40 weight imbalance like doing a restomod Jag and keeping all the original Lucas electrics? Obviously the future, though!
Lovely car. Money no object, sure, but at £250k, that's bordering on pristine 964 turbo/rs money. Great video as ever Sam. You bring a average bloke view on these things.
Very interesting
Although I agree with it being slightly backwards electrifying a beautiful petrol motor such as this one, I can’t help but think this is a genius idea. Take a rusty, weathered 25 year old Porsche, replace some panels and slap a battery and electric motor in there and you’ve got a winner. Would much rather see these on the road than the boring e-corsas etc. Although can’t imagine the price tag being anywhere near affordable
It is nice to see someone trying to implement the enginesound. And when done properly, so that you can "change gear" and adjust it properly, it might (stressing might, really do not like anything about ev's), be something I would consider. (When I can no longer drive my classic as an ICE car that is. 😊
Hilariously, this video would give Greenpeace a heart attack! The squirrel segment!:)))
very very cool, would love to see it done to a few cars....Miura, Countach, Merak
How much is the conversion if you have the car?
I am a born & bred petrol head, but I think this awesome. would love to drive it. I'd consider it, if they weren't so expensive
Sometimes Sam talks with his hands so much I’m sure he’s signing for the deaf community 😂
If someone could make a slow EV that has the same power delivery as the petrol version of the car. As well as the sound and some way to replciate the shifting of gears then I would definitely buy it.
All cars will soon be slowed by ISA unfortunately
How far will it drive on a charge?
Great video Sam, I love it, what’s the weight?
Very cool video, Sam!
Very interesting and thought provoking content Sam - Thanks for sharing.
Loved this one!
Tonys gone love this Sam....... great vlog.....
I like the idea, but I’d rather something cheaper, like a mk2 golf gti as an electric usable daily
Why not just a Mk2 Gti Golf with its 1.8 .. perfection
@@wilkowilkins363 I’ve had 6 mk2 Gti. Some as daily cars some as projects. I think you’re forgetting my comment is subjective. Electric motors are quick, old cars are have reliability issues (belts, cables stretching over time etc) I’d like to daily a car from the 80s with 80% less maintenance.. they aren’t loud obnoxious cars anyway In standard form so no one would even notice, hence my reason for picking the humble golf
Sam, whilst you are describing the interior, I can't help notice the interior lights behind you look like the originals. Why not LED's I wonder? Deliberate to keep the car dated? Just seems odd. Thing is, this car still generates that emotive feeling one gets when seeing a classic car looking this good.
Sam, mate, we don’t need to save the fields. The fields are part of the environmental problem. Great video. 👍🏼
noice, not to sure about the wheels if im being honest. but i always love you videos! keep up the hard work!
Starts from £250k is a serious issue I'm afraid. For far less than that you can get both a classic 911 and a Tesla.
Looks great! Personally I think it’s quite refreshing that manufacturers are attempting to keep some sort of heritage in the cars whilst going electric. We need to embrace it. However, that sound file malarkey is truly tragic 🙈😅 If it’s electric, it’s electric. We can’t keep trying to kid ourselves with these fake noises...
A 964 with a ducktail is so freaking good looking.
Does it actually have any range other than around the block?
Want to see the 650bhp Tesla powered Beetle ??
