Yeah why bother growing a conscience about slavery when god has objective truth and morality?
Oh right because god forgot that part in his infinite objective morality he imparts on you. Guess his morality isn’t very objective at all. Turns out it’s man made. And subjective, since you have to “grow a conscience”.
Under your belief system, there is no growing a conscience. Yet this is your explanation. SILLY.

As a young "black person", I understand one thing about the church.
    It gets MESSY.
The WORD reveals the error though ...
So to have a breakaway from the church is to abandon the Living Word...
    Christ Jesus.
You cannot be the bride without the groom, and I haven't been neither have I met a perfect Christian yet, or a perfect assembly that does everything right.
    I pray they get right before God;
I wouldn't want to be that poor unfortunate soul whom Christ crushes for speaking evil of His bride....

Right? It's not like CHRISTIANITY is responsible... Even if there was this huge amount of racism in the churches they went to, that's a problem with the Christians there that needs to be worked out. It's not like there's a Bible verse that commands us to be racists. The fact that they seem to be blaming Christianity for the racism they've seen(apparently, they didn't give any examples lol) just boggles my mind.

It kinda makes sense for them to feel the way they do. Nowhere in their deconstruction testimonies do they say they were ever Christians because they understood the gospel and felt they needed a savior for their sins. They still acknowledge they do/did wrong things, even in this clip, which is weird. But failing to acknowledge your own need for a savior would automatically put yourself in a position of moral superiority above those you now view as your enemy.

Uhhhh... I see the word racism, and I roll my eyes. I hope most of you realize what a serious issue this is going to be. Doug's right, it will be mandatory at some point to prove that you aren't a "racist", or you will be punished.... The problem is, is that "racism" has no clear definition. It has been used to describe hate towards another race, but it has ALSO been used against people that try to show that people are just DIFFERENT. Race is a REAL phenomenon, and I refuse to bow down and pretend that race doesn't exist. We are NOT all the same. Individuals are different from other individuals, and groups are different from other groups. We do not have to tie in hate at all. We can acknowledge each others differences without hate, it's perfectly fine, but make no mistake - race is real, and races are different. This regressive society is sooo annoying, AHHHHH!!!!

There is such a stark contrast between what Rhett and Link are saying and what Pastor Wilson is saying. R&L are following the wave of culture and confirming the all-powerful data by way of their experience because nothing trumps that which is personal. It is not thoughtful in any sense. When someone says "the Evangelical church is bad," that does not imply that such a person has dispensed with Goodness or even God. They can simply believe that the church, as it is, is not in pursuit of that Goodness. You have to actually engage with their reasoning as opposed to undermining it in this suppositious and, frankly, prideful manner.
I agree that Rhett and Link are making a variety of logical jumps and errors, and they likely both uphold immoral things as moral, but that is not a license for uncharitable and boorish responses. That will only make enemies of people who could be brought within His fold.

    A few disagreements here:
    1. We developed a conscience about slavery because of how bad American Slavery became compared to other forms of the past & because it was concentrated in the section of the country that seceded causing a Civil War
    2. We ended slavery because the wage labor system was making more money and proving more successful
Lincoln said “both sides read from the same Bible, both invoked His aid against the other, it may seem strange that someone would ask God’s assistance in wringing their bread from the sweat of other mens’ faces but let us judge not that we be not judged”

I think it’s important to define terms when we talk about racism
Are we talking about the classical definition of racism which is stereotypes, dislike, prejudice or discrimination based on race or a belief that ones skin color is a determining factor of there character
Or are we using the post-modernist neo-Marxist definition of racism in which anything and everything is considered racism by application of critical theory except racism which falls under the previous category when it is committed against white people
Racism of the former category is practically non-existent as a force within the church although racism within individuals and specific church groups is still real however under the latter category the entire church itself is considered racist and will be until we stop submitting to Christ and start following the libration gospel of activist like Ibram Kendy this course of action is obviously not acceptable for biblical Christians and so must be dealt with in the same manner we deal with accusations of “homophobia” and “heteronormativity” which is to kindly tell these people we don’t care please leave us alone
This is not to say that the church couldn’t do better at racial unity and church congregations are often self-segregating but this is more the result of past racism in history and not the result of active prejudice in the current era

    • @Zaloomination

I dont get the criticism of the church's so-called racial segregation. People go to church where they feel comfortable, usually that's with people who look like them or who worship in a style they're used to. There are no signs telling people where to go. It's their choice.

The word "racist" has for a long time been the single most effective fear-word in the leftist and neoconservative arsenal. For decades, they have successfully used it in the political arena to slander traditionalists, shut down debate, and leave opponents running for cover. In the social arena, they have caused even more damage by using it to brainwash impressionable children and young college students, and to teach white people to hate their nation, their cultural traditions, and worst of all, themselves.

In the movie The Family Man, a child asks Nicolas Cage's character, "Do you like kids?"
He answers, "On a case-by-case basis."
Why is good that white Evangelicals have a warm feeling toward black people?
I tend to reserve my warm feelings for individuals I know, those I feel have earned it.

0:24 Doug said, "Except that he's still white." This isn't interesting statement because it makes me want to ask Doug is white a real thing or a category of the mind?
2:40 Doug ascribes the condition of the black community as the fault of London B Johnson's War On Poverty.
3:30 some guy created a racism index in which white evangelical Christians present as the most racist of all groups. As someone who has lived in the evangelical Christian world for decades, I have no idea what this index is referring to, because race was never brought up as a subject at all.
7:55 "as white guys." So, these two guys in this video accept the classification of being white.
8:10 Doug likes to think of himself as "colorblind". It may be surprising to many white evangelicals that the majority of black Christian evangelicals are offended when white people say they are colorblind. It is a fact that black Christian evangelicals have a black racial identity. And that most blacks who think of themselves as conservative still vote for the Democratic Party.
