OMG - this includes the episode with the Billie Jean "CHAIR" bit! Ha ha ha ha ha! I haven't seen this in 33 years! Thank you again, Don! :)
Todd Merrell My friends and I STILL reference the “CHAIR” bit all these decades later. I’ve always loved Letterman, but IMHO the bits from these early NBC shows were just funnier than those from the later CBS run...more raw, and with a relatable seat-of-the-pants feel. Thanks for all the uploads!
I still say “chair” when I hear that song lol
I'd completely forgotten about that! Hilarious.
I read your comment before hearing it. I was wondering what the hell you were talking about. Hilarious...CHAIR!
I came here for the Chair bit, too. Timeless Letterman.
12:38 YESSSSSS! CHAIR!!!!! Haven't heard that since '84 but stuck in my head for eternity.
The chair may not be his son, but Blanket is!
I'm glad I got to hear it again. I would love to see the origional viewer mail where it first came up.
Parkwaymania I don’t get it....
"The chair is not my son" was also on the cover of a 1984 Flaming Carrot comic book.
The best years for that show.
I like how the band goes to commercial break with the Beatles’ “Baby You Can Drive My Car” after Letterman plays Shatner reciting “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.”
I genuinely enjoy Sam the Drummer (Sam Ulano) and Music for Cooking with Gas. Thank you, Don Giller
15:04 Americana ... 15:20 "... to become independent. Independent. That's a big word meaning 'doing your own thing'." ROTFLMAO! There is "Dave's Record Collection" and then there's "Don's Great Letterman Collection." Always a great go to for an end of day pick me up. Thank you as always - your work is appreciated Don! (Herve Villechaize ... LOL! "Why" certainly does come to mind!)
Thanks. Grab ‘em while you can; the bird network blocked six more videos today.
The song for "Music for cooking with gas" is "When your Lover has gone".
9:35 This is exciting indeed.
12:21 the chair is not my son
From Dave's original daytime show: someone, maybe Rich Hall, played a detective searching for a missing woman. "Dave, we believe she was kidnapped by a baseball team." And they play a snippet of Bobby Goldsboro:"when you were here and I was gone...the Angels came..."
18:10 Thank you. I am now officially bilingual....English and Parakeet!
Shatner definitely knows his psychedelics.
MISTER TAMBOURINE MAN 😬
WITH KALEIDOSCOPE EYES 😬😬
Commercial Recording Corp. could fall under category of Industrial Musicals/advertising related
It wasn't Ralf, it was Thurl Ravenscroft.
How’s it going Don!
Remember the Russian psychic?
That last bit is actually kinda sad. He committed suicide.
Omar Gonzalez Who? Herve Villachaize??
Why?
