I could get nitpicky about this list, whether it's legends like Iron Sheik, Sgt Slaughter and Bam Bam Bigelow, childhood favorites like Kane, DDP, and Ultimo Dragon, or modern day guys like Moxley, McIntyre and Cody. But the main oversight for me in regards to the list's overall credibility are the REALLY old school guys like George Hackenschmidt, Frank Gotch and Strangler Lewis. And considering I probably know less about them than you guys I can't really hate on them not being here because they're certainly not in my top 100 even though I'm complaining they aren't in yours.
Interesting list, I agree with a lot of it. The glaring omission to me is Jeff Hardy, his popularity and cultural impact on his fan’s generation, combined with his trend setting style cannot be understated. The list is heavily marred by golden era nostalgia, as I think in 10-15 years the same more modern names would love much higher on the list. I think a couple of the modern women should have been included, but I could tell they wouldn’t when Trish appeared so quickly. Fun background watch all the same!
I’m through the first 11 entries so far… enjoying the list! Love the nod to Kevin Nash. A lot of folks disagree, but I loved his Diesel championship run. Great matches with Bret and HBK that still hold up today.
@@HiNRGboy not even then lmao. RVD is way more influential and Ospreay and Rollins are ten times the solo workers. Scott’s solo work is downright dreadful at points. Dude managed to get a bad match out of Kurt Angle. Him vs HHH may be the worst world title match in WWE history

@briansweeney6733 Yeah. To me John Cena, Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart are similar in star power though. I'd put Hulk Hogan over all 3 of them. I'd put Steve Austin over all 3 of them. Maybe Flair over all 3 of them. That's probably about it though. I'd put Undertaker, Andre the Giant, and Macho Man Randy Savage high too but maybe not as high as any of those. Same with Kurt Angle too.
My favorite Wrestlers are : The Undertaker , HBK, Austin, The Rock, Hulk Hogan, Randy "Macho Man Savage, Bret Hart , Owen Hart, Kurt Angle, The Hardy Boyz (Matt & Jeff), The Dudleys (D-Von & Buh Buh Ray Dudley, ), Bruno Samartino, Dusty Rhodes, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Davy Boy Smith( The British Bulldog), Chris Benoit,(I won't take away what he did in the ring, but 2007 does put a black mark on his legendary career), Triple H, Chyna, Lita, Trish Status, Medusa(Alundra Blaze in WWF), Sting, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall as Razor Ramon in WWF.
Its worth bringing Nash up in the video but I dont think he belongs in the Top 101. He just happened to be in matches with truly great talents that carried him.
I mean they did say in the beginning this is also including impact in the business. It’s not all about in ring work. His impact on the business side of wrestling can’t be denied. Even so, Nash was fine for his size.
@247charlie247 His impact was important but Idk man, his in ring work kinda sucked whenever he wasn't in the ring with someone really good. He's just there in the match. Aside from size, easily replaceable.
If actual wrestling was the most important thing, people nobody's ever heard of from Japan Mexico would be ahead of Flair,, Savage or Stone Cold. Nash was huge and instrumental in making wrestling huge in the 90s. Should have been top 25 imo.
@@robn880 it really just depends on what your tastes are at the end of the day. Personally, bell to bell action is the most important thing for a wrestler for me. Needless to say, he wouldn't be in my top 101. But neither would Goldberg or Ultimate Warrior.
Some of the most interesting things that stood out to me: - No Kane, Jeff Hardy, Iron Sheik, Sheamus, Yokozuna. - Seth Rollins appearing that soon really shocked me. - Bryan Danielson not being, at the very very least, in the top 20. - Sting’s position. - Bret over Shawn
@@inkedvillan80 You might be right. But, Shawn actually wrestled for longer if you include his 2nd run. And his 2nd run is when he really reached that all-timer level. 2002-2010 he was basically untouchable. But yeah, it’s a toss of a coin. I’d have Shawn over Bret but I don’t begrudge anyone who says otherwise.
@@jackoneill7610Wrong. Brets career began in 1978. Shawn's 1984. Shawn sat out 4 years and wrestled 3 matches in 2002 before starting up part time. Bret was a full timer. Proving that in ring work isn't that big a draw. Shawn's Christian persona was quote dull and boring tv. He and Nose were drawing mid 2s when Rock and Austin left.
I thought Shawn would be one but it's impossible to make this list without lots of disagreement. I see Bret closer to 10 and Shawn as the best to ever do it, but I understand linking them next to each other on such a list.

It's a good list of 100; I think there's room for a few more women (Becky Lynch especially), Rude too high, Inoki too low with Andre...but it's a really good list that's well worth watching.
Rick Rude was one of the very best heels on the planet in the 1980s and 1990s, if anything 51 is a little bit low for him. He had it all, great promos, a great look, fantastic in ring work and a lot of great matches to his credit. I was also shocked that Becky isn't on the list.
Macho Man Randy Savage should have easily been in the Top 5. He had the ability, the look and the promos. Not too many wrestlers are still remembered like he is.
@@kurtoppenheim4552 You make some good points on that. Even though Savage had enough gas in the tank for the early 90s in WWF and the rest of the decade in WCW, the mid to late 80s were his peak years. I would still rank him higher than 11.
This might just be me but the subtle nod to Shelton Benjamin in Batista’s entry really shows some love to him despite not being the biggest star like the other four but was way ahead of his time in terms of talent and performances
No disrespect to the foreign wrestlers and all, be he definitely should be in front of all these Japanese and luchador wrestlers I have never heard of and will never hear about again..ever..except in this video
You're right about Gorgeous George. Frankly, he's secretly up there as one of the most influential figures in American pop culture. It's been said more people bought televisions to watch Gorgeous George than Milton Berle. The knock on effects of that alone is practically indescribable. Then there is the knock on effect of inspiring Muhammed Ali to be a talker. You ever see two buff UFC dude shit talking each other? They do that, because boxers did it. Boxers did it, because Ali did it. Ali did it, because Gorgeous George did it. Hulk Hogan was known for ripping most of his gimmick off Superstar Billy Graham. Billy Graham took the words of Ali and the flamboyance and look of Gorgeous George. Ric Flair took the gimmick of Buddy Rogers and took the flamboyance and look of Gorgeous George. To top it off, his stuff still holds up. I watched a match of his where as he is getting in the ring, he stops, sniffs the air, turns around to the crowd, sniffs a fan, recoils, then sprays the guy with his perfume. Had me rolling. Half a century later and his schtick is still entertaining. It's gimmick work so good it transcends time and culture. You don't even need to speak the same language to get it. www.reddit.com/r/Wreddit/comments/151hhva/i_read_the_gorgeous_george_biography_by_john/ Here's a fantastic breakdown on his biography confirming I'm not just talking shit. He's actually done way more than I've mentioned, like inspiring James Brown's outfits. Definitely one of the most important guys on the list.
Yeah he’d be in my top 10. Okay worker, but a loyal soldier main-eventer for decades in WCW and his impact as Crow was pretty huge. He’s the WCW equivalent of Undertaker IMO-Mr Reliable who you could always main event.

PC list where they tried to pick a diverse group instead of the best. That’s why they included women when we know the best women were still not top 101 of all time. And love booker as much as the next guy, but over Kane? Over Jeff Hardy? Hell even over Matt Hardy?
@@sevel7556 Jeff hardy get no where near these guys. Grow up
Amazing content 🙌🏻 👏🏻 But kane not being in this list is criminal! One of the best if not the best character debut in wwe history and was an absolute monster during 2000 & 2001
You could argue Kane was just a notch below the main event for most of his career. Never really broke through to the main event except when he was facing the Undertaker.
@@kurtoppenheim4552 I understand what you are saying, but he won the WWE, world heavyweight, and ECW championships. He’s a hall of famer and had a career that lasted 20 years; I think he deserves to be on this list.

Because Meltzer never gave him a 5 star match lmao
Because he wasn't a draw he was great but there are greater wrestlers
@avalond1193 wasn't a draw?! The man was RED HOT in the WCW haydays, just a hair under as popular as Goldberg and just as popular as Sting, Hogan or Macho. If they're on this list (just started watching) then he absolutely should be imo! 👍❤️

I could see Kevin Nash throwing Seth Rollins head-first into a trailer like he did Rey Mysterio on Nitro back in the day lol.
Great job on the list, lads! Admire this undertaking as you knew the hits would be coming. Thank you for the content!!
The women should get their own list. So many great women these days!
I can't wait to see where the greatest wrestler of all time , Jimmy the King, ranks on this list

Love the nod to Kevin Nash. A lot of folks disagree, but I loved his Diesel championship run. Great matches with Bret and HBK that still hold up today.
I would be really interested in watching the round table discussions and arguments that led to a lot of these rankings
Probably consisted of a lot of Adderall and weed.
Kurt Angle or Bret Hart are my two favorites, though I expect them to be in the top 20 not one and two.
Steiners solo career had about 1 good year before he became the absolute drizzling shits. Insane he’s above Rollins, Ospreay, and RVD
They're not above Steiner if you include the whole career, Scott's overall career shits all over those other guys

Big Show over Kane is a travesty. Could nit pick the top 5 a bit (Flair, Hogan, Austin, Cena, Michaels)
Cena wasn't in the top 5. Bret H. Was.
@@michael7054as it should be
@briansweeney6733 Yeah.
Not really big show is great maybe Kane should be higher than him but both should be higher in this list
I think Big Show is where he should be. But, only if you are including his WCW run.
Agreed. I'd rather see Kane over Nash on this list.
Some of the most interesting things that stood out to me:
- No Kane, Jeff Hardy, Iron Sheik, Sheamus, Yokozuna.
- Seth Rollins appearing that soon really shocked me.
- Bryan Danielson not being, at the very very least, in the top 20.
- Sting’s position.
- Bret over Shawn
I feel like bret wrestling while shawn was just hanging out at home for awhile gets him the nod. Both godtier no doubt
Wrestled 1000 more matches than Shawn..And Brets career coincided with more fans watching. Shawn's second run coincided with an over 50 percent loss of the audience from the Attitude era.

Number one was unexpected but absolutely warrented.
I thought it would be Shawn Michaels but im ok with Stone Cold changed everything with the attitude ers and his matches with the rock and rivarly with mr Mcmahon
It's a good list of 100; I think there's room for a few more women (Becky Lynch especially), Rude too high, Inoki too low with Andre...but it's a really good list that's well worth watching.
No Becky?!?!
Rick Rude was one of the very best heels on the planet in the 1980s and 1990s, if anything 51 is a little bit low for him. He had it all, great promos, a great look, fantastic in ring work and a lot of great matches to his credit. I was also shocked that Becky isn't on the list.
I don't think any woman in wrestling history is that good. At least not yet.
Macho Man Randy Savage should have easily been in the Top 5. He had the ability, the look and the promos. Not too many wrestlers are still remembered like he is.
I'd say top 10 to me. Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair are too. Maybe Andre the Giant.
I think the only knock against Savage is he peaked in the late 80s and was always overshadowed by Hogan.
Putting Big Show dead last on this list is disrespectful. He’s a 7 time world champion and grand slam winner, he should’ve been higher.
I've read that he would sometimes demand (and get!) 25% of the gate.

Why is Hogan #5? I know Michael’s, Hart and Flair are better in ring guys but cmon? He’s either #1 or #2. I have no problem putting Austin at #1 cause In my eyes they are both 1A and 1B. There is no professional wrestler more popular than Hulk Hogan. When people who don’t watch wrestling and someone says something about pro wrestling they right away think “oh yeah that’s thing that hulk hogan does.” Just a question, was there anyone who helped make this video around in the 80’s? I doubt it. Cause if you were you would know the importance of Hulkamania and the impact it had on the world!
I agree with this statement. Hogan, although an asshole and someone who was very hard to work with supposedly, should be a top 3 easily. I do agree with Austin being number 1.
The most accurate statement in this video is it’s all subjective. Shawn Michaels at #3 & Bret hart at #2?! Also, DDP deserved to be on this list a lot more than Benoit did.
