Surprsing that you just found motes considering your love of Vandas....they are vanda royalty...very very well known in the orchid world. Glad you found them....top notch people
+Ian Kitson RIGHT!!! ...but now that I know...there is no going back!!! LOL!!! I think I have about 25 Motes vandas now...and that's just in a two months period...YIKES!!! But indeed I am thrilled to have found them. We just recently went to the Tamiami orchid show and got the opportunity to meet and spend time with them and they are all very kind and indeed are top notch people!

HERE in the philippines there is a laboratory in davao, they breed orchids using the foundation of our local species like. luzonica, lamellata boxalii, remediosa, etc. , merillii, sanderiana, also crossed with local aerides and vandopsis. i have that what you have featured the vanda loke.

Funny this is the subject of your latest video. This weekend is the Tamiami International Orchid Festival in Miami. It is organized by Motes Orchids. I cant believe I've been to RF Orchids so often but haven't checked out Motes. I'm even more eager for the show now.
How awesome is that!!! We will be there on Saturday and it is our first time going as well so I am very excited!! I am hoping to meet the man behind my horrid addiction! LOL!!! It was a pleasure meeting you : ) No, I could kick myself! I did not get it. But the same vendor will be at the Naples Orchid Show, in my hometown next month, so if they have them there, I won't make the same mistake twice. I doubt the price will be as cheap. Oh well, I still have my gorgeous Fredclarkeara. The new pseudobulb is exploding upward.
So be sure to upload videos of your catesetum's progress, in case I have to live vicariously through yours : P

Okay well I hope you are able to get one...but if you don't I will keep you posted on how mine does...I don't have much experience with them...and it is taking everything in me not to water it...LOL! ...but I will be on my best behavior and only do what is instructed and we'll see how it goes...wish me luck! :)

I'm glad I got the opportunity in person to thank you. Got about a dozen Motes Orchids and many others! Went a little crazy buying orchids of many kind. Started collecting about 6 months ago. I wish I had taken more time to get to know you...I didn't even realize with all the orchid madness that was going on...we didn't even really get a chance to talk much...I do apologize. So you made a stop at motes orchids did ya?? LOL!!! I did too...LOL!!! I got 6 of the vanda semi terete vandas...the ones that were full blooming size...I could not believe that he had them for only 10.00 each and 3 for 25.00. I can't wait to get them to bloom...super excited!!! I really enjoyed myself when I was there...I couldn't believe all the great deals that they had...this really changes my outlook on ordering from ebay...they can get quite pricey and then you still have to deal with the shipping and handling which sometimes can be just about as much as the purchase! I figure if you just hold out...save your money and then just attend the orchid shows you would save so much money! So what did you get...I went a little overboard and then got home and wondered where the heck am I going to put all of these orchids? I've transitioned most of my orchids in my bathroom/bathtub now...and it is an orchid mess in there!!! YIKES!!! So I am trying to convince myself...I DON'T NEED ANY MORE!!!! (at least not right now!! LOL!)

+PictureMaria1 It was early and I had just arrived and wanted to make sure that I saw as much as possible before I needed to leave because I was in crutches and the pain would tell me it's time to go. Afterwards, I felt like we didn't talk much but I'm glad I saw you because I've learned alot from you and im glad i got the opportunity to thank you personally. I currently only watch videos from Miss Orchid Girl (Europe), Brad Greenhouse from Canada and you are locally from Florida. :) I really enjoy your videos! :) On Sunday, I needed to go again, arrived at around 3:45pm. Felt like I just didnt get enough. My wife and I had spent over $180 on Saturday. So we just said to each other. lets walk around and just talk to the vendors, learn about orchid in general, and just enjoy all the displays. We didn't spend a dime for the first 2 hours and our intentions were not to spend any money but to our surprise it didn't last. At around 5pm (closing was at 6pm) most of the vendor were willing to negotiate their prices, dropping their prices from 20% to up to 50% off. Not all of them did but I would say 80% of them did. They were even selling their sample that said "not for sale" at discounted price. From now on, I will continue to try to go early like I did but last minute also works. On Sunday, there weren't that many people and the vendors didn't have as much inventory but there was still alot of selection. Spent another $120 on Sunday it would have cost us over $200 on Saturday. We promised ourselves to TRY to stay away from ebay for at least for a while ( because of shipping cost and you really can't see what you are buying) Buying at the shows is the best. This is our 4th show. We have gone to the RF orchid show 2015, Bank Atlantic 2015, Fort Lauderdale 2016 (Amazing Orchid Displays) however the orchid were more expensive. and this past weekend the Tamiami 2016. We are planning to go to the 2016 Fairchild Orchid Show and the 2016 Redland Orchid Show. One is in March the other in May. In a short time period we have collected more than 120-150+ orchids. We started late May 2015. Note: lol, i have the same situation I have a lot of orchids on my kitchen counter near the window and I do not know what I am going to do with them all. We bought too many. I'm also trying to convince myself as well that we dont need anymore. But when I finally find a home for them. I just put myself in the same situation. :) Yes we will definitely take a picture next time. :) take care.

Actually it was a good thing that you did...to be able to get such amazing deals...that's what my friend told me...that the last day they start really discounting their orchids because many of the vendors are from overseas and it would cost them more to take them back with them. So congratulations on your bargains...and yes I totally agree with you...I was just talking to my husband about the ebay thing...I told him that you actually do better saving your money to go to the Orchid Shows where you get some phenomenal deals and don't have to worry about the outrageous shipping and handling that they charge and still not know exactly what you are going to get...I couldn't believe the deals that were there at the show...They were selling some blooming size denisonianas for 20.00 that normally would go on ebay for about 40.00 and that's not even including the shipping and handling....Also I had seen so many orchids that I bought as seedlings on ebay and there they had the same orchids at full blooming size less than what I got them for on ebay...I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!!! So it was such a big eye opener for me and a learning lesson for sure!!! I think a good plan of action is to be more disciplined and again save your money for the orchid shows...and during the down time you have time to get to know the orchids you already have and grow and bloom them. That has been my problem...I have never taken a break...and now I have so many orchids...I barely know what to do with them...they are all crammed in my bathroom jungle now...smh...
Well I am so glad to meet you...and to know your addictions is just as bad as mine!!! YIKES!!! ...WE NEED A GREEN HOUSE! LOL! I bought three seedlings from them a couple months ago, one was a denisoniana, it came with four tiny leaves and one fell off. I was trying to peel off a little piece of sheath and the roots and stem and the renaming three leaves popped off of each other! There was browning where they were connected. I was pissed, it was $20, but mostly just really depressed. This was my second denisoniana, I got one a couple years ago and finally threw it away because it rarely grew and when it did the new leaves just turned brown and the roots stopped short. I think I'm done trying to grow denisoniana. :,(
+ramonypony So sorry to hear about your experience...did you contact them and let them know...they are very kind people I am certain they would've rectified the situation...and don't tell me that about denisoniana....I just bought a high priced one!!! I had fell in love with the alba form and just had to get one...I have heard that they are a bit harder to take care of than your regular vandas...and they are cool to warm growers...I am so hoping I can grow it here in our Florida heat...now I'm scared! YIKES!!!
Maria The vandas sound and look beautiful but they are pretty small. How far away from blooming are they?
+Linda Baker The ones that I got are miniature vandas and are between 6-12 months from blooming. I have about 6 of them that are actually blooming size...the one that I did a size comparison with is a full blooming size mini.
My vanda is dying!!! HELP! I was an awesome orchid parent and over sprayed my vanda's roots with hydrogen peroxide because the roots, that were covered with decorative spanish moss not the live kind, had developed some nasty slime. This manage to dry out 85% of the roots and the orchid lives keep yellowing from the bottom up. It use to be yellowing the leaves slowly but now it seems to have accelerated. She has halve the leaves i bought her with. Does anyone have any suggestions?
...I am so sorry to hear....any sudden or drastic changes in climate or conditions of the vanda? Sometimes orchids will show a drastic dislike towards a change in condition...It may also be an extreme insect infestation or infection....the best thing you can do is disinfect it from top to bottom with listerine, seperate it from your other orchids, give it tlc and closely monitor it. I am hoping it bounced back and fully recovers...please keep me posted.
PS it appears that the vanda may be experiencing dehydration with the sudden drying of the roots...I would cut off any area of the root that has been effected and water the entire plant often by misting it....hopefully you can encourage more roots to grow by providing it with lots of moisture so that it can begin to receive water as normal.

No they don't...they have many other wonderful orchid types as well.

Shipping is too high.
They do last shipping of $12 no matter how many orchids you get...that's not a bad deal at all considering how much the post office can charge. I have sent orchids that cost $65 to ship...of course distance, weight and size of the box all factor into the cost as well.
